-Lilah's makeup shows how gruesome that fight was
    -Proper punishment?
-This is the 50th episode! Joss wrote the Lilah and Cordelia scene. Are we surprised?

Show notes Join us as we discuss Angel season 3, episode 5, "Fredless" and Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6, episode 5, "Life Serial."
    Superfans: Natalie and Maj
    Newbies: Ariana and Kristen
    Fun Facts:
Natalie is having internet issues and she is so over it. More of a not-fun fact. Kristen had a night of nine-year-old fun with her niece last night and it was just what she needed. Ariana was a bridesmaid in her friend's wedding and had a ton of fun. Maj has two fun facts: She got to pick her own bridesmaid's dress last year from Asus and she just saw Wonder Woman.
Angel season 3, episode 5, "Fredless":
    -Synopsis
-The gang theorizes about what happened between Buffy and Angel during their little rendezvous midway between Sunnydale and L.A.
-Why do we think the show didn't show or tell us what happened between Buffy and Angel?
-Angel the show is tired of being Buffy's little brother.
-Yet another conversation about Angel and his "moments of perfect bliss" (AKA his sex life).
-We take a poll: Did we all think Fred's parents were evil?
    -Fred the Texan physicist.
-Lorne gets a whole storyline, so he seems to be more of a fully fleshed-out character.
-Lorne advised Fred to keep running, that she "hadn't run far enough." Sad Lorne is sad.
-Fred was pretty happily in denial about her Pylea life, but is forced to confront it by her non-evil parents.
-Mom runs a bug over with a bus!
    -Fred leaves. Sadface.
-But, wait! She comes back to save the day!
-We are all weirded out that Gunn forgot that demon head wasn't a prop.
-Fred finds her place at Angel Investigations and she gets a fresh start after painting over her walls.
-Is Fred still crushing on Angel? Or is this fresh start a completely new one?
-A few trivia items for this episode!
-Fred grew a lot in this episode, and it's important to see just what she has to offer to the team.
-Wesley is the liberal arts kind of smart, while Fred is more math and sciences.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6, episode 5, "Life Serial":
    -Synopsis
-Everyone has expectations about what Buffy should do with her life now.
-Team Tara is awkwardly trying to keep things together.
-Buffy entered college without a good idea of what she wants, and that's perfectly okay. (Natalie explains how different it is in Australia.)
-This episode's antagonists, The Trio: AKA JAW/WAJ/Prime Lords of Sunnydale?
-Jonathan is spells, Warren is technology, and Andrew is... unclear.
-What is with the Trio? What do they want?
-First Spell: Time fast-forwarding device? What? Disorienting, just like Willow's classes.
-Second Spell: Jonathan summons demons for Buffy to fight at the construction site.
-Third Spell: A time loop while she works at the Magic Box.
-Fourth Spell: Red Demon thing? Drunk Buffy still beats him up.
-We all agree that the first spell is the worst and freakiest, but the time loop was frustrating and stressful.
    -Buffy and Spike hangout time.
-We all weigh in on our Spike/Buffy feels.
-What do we think Buffy feels/thinks about hanging out with Spike?
-Why does she choose to hang with him?
-Buffy solidly hands Giles his parental unit card when she compares him to her mother.

-Buffy should *totally* be getting paid.
-We are already at two years of Buffy/Angel! What could possibly be next?
-Would a chance Buffy was in hell outweigh the possibility of heaven?

    Fun Facts:
Brittany got four DVDs of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers for FOUR DOLLARS. Also, she saw Karen in real life. Natalie made a Pinterest for her new house and she realizes what a rabbit hole it is! Send her pictures of your 1920s bathrooms! Mitch is seeing Wonder Woman tonight with someone who knows enough people to fill two rows of a movie theater. Caitlin also saw Wonder Woman and she enjoys recliner seats at movies!
Angel season 3, episode 4, "Carpe Noctem":
    -Synopsis
-Do we think Fred is adjusting to the group? Do they want her around?
-Will Cordelia forever be the "what Fred isn't" point for the show?
-More Cordelia and Angel flirting scenes, please!
-Caitlin does not care for body-switching episodes
    -Angel has a superbody
-This episode is so pervy and weird and uncomfortable
-What do homosexual clothes look like?
-Angel and Wes - the ship that never sails

-Brittany will report back with pipe costs
-Umm... Anya is not suggesting anything new when it comes to payment!

Episode #215: ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ 6x03, 'Angel'3x03 - Same, Girls. Same. May 30, 2017
Show notes Join us as we discuss Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6, episode 3, "After Life" and Angel season 3, episode 3, "That Old Gang of Mine."
    Superfans: Caitlin and Maj
    Newbies: Kristen and Mitch
    Fun Facts:
Mitch stumbled across the American Ninja Warrior in downtown Denver and is saddened to hear that Stephen Amell isn't still there. Kristen is enjoying GIF wars with her brother on her new phone that now lets her have GIF wars. Maj is sweating it out in her 66 degree weather. Caitlin is mourning a life without allergies.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6, episode 3, "After Life":
    -Synopsis
-We are all pleased to see Dawn guiding Buffy through life and protecting her from the loud, raucous Scooby gang.
-The camera work in that moment evoked just the right feelings.
-That Buffy/Spike bonding moment over the pain of clawing her way out of her grave is touching and special.
-Also, he knew she wasn't the Buffybot! *swoon*
-Spike is pissed and he lets Xander know it.
-Xander didn't think through all the reasons Willow kept Spike in the dark, but Spike did in the mere moments he's known.
-A little full circle moment from Spike helping Dawn with her resurrection spell for Joyce and wanting to keep it a secret, and now he's the one who's been left out.
-Spike feels a part of the team now, and they purposefully didn't tell him. He's hurt.
-Is this demon the consequence Spike was talking about, or are there greater magical consequences on the horizon?
-When Buffy saw the pictures change: Demon or resurrection side effect?
-MOTW: Thaumogenesis demon (not a hell dimension hitchhiker)
-This side effect demon is another sign of just how unnatural this spell was.
-The demon is not just punishing Willow & Co., but is berating Willow for the evils she committed just to get the ingredients for the spell.
-Buffy wasn't in hell, like they all think she was.
-She chooses to share her knowledge of a heaven-like afterlife with Spike, but keeps it from everyone else.
-Her friends are the ones who ended that peace.
-This explains why Willow & Co. chose to leave Giles out of things. If Giles had been consulted, they may have left her dead.
    -Foreshadowing is fun.
-A few thoughts about Xander and Spike's relationship and the hypocrisy there.

Angel season 3, episode 3, "That Old Gang of Mine":
    -Synopsis
-Note: This episode was initially supposed to be aired as the second episode, but they switched it.
-Even the writer of this episode didn't like it.
-We definitely didn't expect Angel to be talking to Merl in the opening scene.
-Angel's sincerity can be measured by the gift he brings you.
    -Poor Merl.
-Gunn figures out who is killing these demons before anyone else. It's his old crew.
-Gio is horrible and we hated him.
-Gunn makes some hard decisions in this episode.
-Gio and the gang have adopted the black and white philosophy that we noticed was missing on Buffy this week.
-Caitlin doesn't hate this episode as much. There's a lot going on here.
-It was nice to see Gunn taking the lead role in the episode.
-Cordy and the Carnitas ladies are definitely the highlight of the episode.
-Angel and Gunn have a moment and Angel makes sure they know what his wishes are regarding him turning back into Angelus.
-The themes of this episode are great, the execution just wasn't all there.

    Episode #214: 'Buffy' 6x01 and 6x02 – My Demon Dad May 22, 2017
Show notes Join us as we discuss Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6, episodes 1 and 2, "Bargaining Part 1" and "Bargaining Part 2."
    Superfans: Karen and Maj
    Newbies: Kristen and Ariana
    Fun Facts:

Ariana has caught whatever bug Brittany and Natalie had last week, and she is totally blaming them for her illness. Maj is still into photography, and she sent Karen a picture of some deer which is totally cute. Kristen recently got an ARC for a new book where the author, Andrea Thome, takes the pictures for her own covers and Kristen is really amazed by that process (You can see the stunning photos/covers here.). Karen had an awesome dream-mare where she got to hang out with Eminem and the Ninja Turtles, but they they killed Donatello. How rude!
Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 6, episodes 1 and 2, "Bargaining Part 1" and "Bargaining Part 2":
    -Synopsis
-Willow and her telepathy is a little creepy, no?
-We weren't all convinced that was the Buffybot, but we knew it wasn't Buffy.
-So, apparently Giles, and Anthony Head are not in the opening credits
-How scarred would we be if Giles was gone permanently? Very.
-We would totally watch a show called "My Teen Moms."
-Willow is doing her best for Dawn, even if it isn't the healthiest way to raise a teenager.
-The Buffybot is still around, and they are all dealing with how she isn't Buffy in different ways.
-Spike has taken Dawn under his wing, and is doing his best to protect her.
-We continue to be amazed at all the emotions that Spike is capable of.
-And now we dive into the Willow of it all.
-Willow knows that Giles, Spike, and/or Dawn would probably try to stop her from resurrecting Buffy, so she doesn't tell them.
-No one stops her, maybe because they are afraid of her?
-Willow, in her grief, believes that since she can bring Buffy back, she should.
    -This is definitely not true.
-We all agree that if they would have dug up Buffy and looked her in the eye (or eyeholes),
-Poor Buffy wakes up in her coffin, and we are curious as to how she will deal with that reality with the group.
-Will she yell at them for making her dig herself out of her own grave?
    -"Is this hell?"
-Where has Buffy been this whole time?
-We really appreciate that Dawn is the one to talk Buffy off the ledge.

    Superfans: Caitlin and Natalie
    Newbies: Ariana and Brittany
    Fun Facts:
Ariana is hopeful that the listeners will like her since we are talking about Angel. But Brittany brings the mood down by discussing how much Buffy she had to watch. Ariana and Brittany got to get out some frustrations. Natalie's fun fact is that she is sick so we tried to get a voice automator for her. And Caitlin is recording this two days from her birthday!
Angel, season 3, episode 1, "Heartthrob":
    -Synopsis
    -Pre-Breaking Dawn demon baby!
    -TIME-JUMP
-Angel is not okay that he's okay, but it's okay
    -So much smiling!
-Does Cordy feel a bit of guilt that Angel missed Buffy's death?
-Were we expecting him to be more like James?

-Cordelia's physical reactions to the visions are not appealing
-But this is not her fault!
-We can't handle the Cordy/Angel 100th episode news
    -"Called it since the dumpster"
-There is a plot with boil man and Fred!
-Lorn is not having the best go of things, but he loves the group

    -PC golf, so badass
    -Hell dimension field trip!
    -Skip is a damn delight
-Plot catch up - Angel killed an innocent, or did he?

    Episode #212: ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ 5×22, ‘Angel’ 2×22 - Inter-dimensional Booty Call May 14, 2017
Show notes Join us as we discuss Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 5, episode 22, "The Gift," and Angel season 2, episode 22, "There's No Place Like Plrtz Glrb."
    Superfans: Karen and Maj
    Newbies: Danielle and Mitch
    Fun Facts:

Karen is excited to be in Chicago visiting Danielle. Danielle is glad that she got to watch The Room with Karen (AKA the Citizen Kane of terrible movies). Maj is still enjoying all things hockey all the time, while Mitch went to a fun going away party for a friend who is going to go play Aurora in Paris, which, as we all know, is Mitch's dream job/life.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 5, episode 22, "The Gift":
    -Synopsis
    -100 episodes of Buffy!
-This was billed as a 'series' finale since Buffy moved to UPN in season six.
    -"Death is your gift"
-The newbies had a little trouble with the logistics of Buffy's blood vs. Dawn's blood and exactly what the gate needed to open and close.
-The Superfans explain as best they can.
-Lots and lots and lots of foreshadowing. Joss had this planned two years in advance. *jawdrop*
-And that's a wrap for Ben. And Glory. Wait, Glory is Ben? (hehe)
-There is always love for Anya, and this time she's the one coming up with all the plans.
-Xander proposed to Anya AND SURVIVED! Congrats buddy, we didn't think you'd make it.
-Buffy's ultimatum to the world: No Dawn, no Slayer.
-Willow is a little bit the deus ex machina here, but she's badass, so whatever.
-All the callbacks! Maj has a list of fun things that reappeared including the Buffybot!
-Tara's back, back, back. Back again.
-Spike feels! We get a moment between Buffy and Spike as well as some significant interaction between our blonde bloodsucker and Doc on the plinth.
    -Buffy... she dead.
-"She saved the world. A lot." Silly, but meaningful.
-You can almost imagine the Scoobies deciding what needs to be on Buffy's tombstone.

-Wesley in this episode was a little darker, a little more serious.
-Karen has a regular Fred-loving session. This will probably be a recurring thing.
-Fred and Angel: Yay or Nay?
-We do quite enjoy Cordy and the Groosalug, even if his eyes are a little creepy.
-Cordy wants to keep her visions and we all find even more respect for her.
-Why does Cordy have to com shuck with the Groosalug to pass on her visions when Doyle only had to kiss her?
    -Angel vs Groosalug.
-All is well in Plrtz Glrb. After Cordy abolishes slavery.
-Lorne's goodbye to his family is hysterical.
-Angel and Lorne's discussion about LA and how it's the place for those that don't fit in anywhere is beautiful.

Episode #211: ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ 5×21, ‘Angel’ 2×21 – Numfar for President May 12, 2017
Show notes Join us as we discuss Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 5, episode 21, "The Weight of the World," and Angel season 2, episode 21, "Through the Looking Glass."
    Superfans: Caitlin and Natalie
    Newbies: Kristen and Mitch
    Fun Facts:
Kristen is really excited to get a new phone tomorrow morning. Like, REALLY excited. Mitch didn't end up taking his trip to Syracuse, but can smell snow at home in Denver. Umm... It's May. Natalie saw David Boreanaz on a couple of panels at a convention this weekend and he was his funny, performing self. Caitlin got to hang out with Karen and meet Andrew for the first time, and had fun trying to avoid traffic jams. They weren't all that successful, but Karen got the authentic Atlanta experience.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 5, episode 21, "The Weight of the World":
    -Synopsis
-Buffy has been through a lot over the last five seasons, so this was the final straw.
-It's terrible timing, but completely understandable.
-Bitty Buffy is so cute... and then we go off on a tangent about actors returning on genre shows.
-The implanted memory of Buffy holding baby Dawn feels so real and SO cute.
-Death is her gift. Oh, Buffy. It doesn't have to be that way, though.
-We all have low points, so it's not out of the question that Buffy would have doubts and consider giving it all up.
-Buffy literally has the weight of the world on her shoulders.
-Willow succeeds in snapping Buffy out of her catatonic state and Buffy is ready to fight.
-Then Giles gives her all the contingency plans. They don't look good.
-Getting down to the nitty gritty: Is Dawn going to die in the finale?
    -Is magic the fix all?
-The newbies don't think Dawn is going to die, but for very different reasons.
-Willow is doing some powerful magic. I mean, it took a bunch of wizards to put a shield up around Hogwarts and Willow did it all by herself. BAMF.
-Spike and Xander visit Doc and find out he is definitely on Team Glory.
-But they do leave with a box that might help defeat Glory? **crosses fingers**
-The magic that has kept Glory and Ben apart is fading, and it's a hot mess. The look on Dawn's face throughout this scene is priceless.
-Newbies make finale predictions. Kristen's are fairly general; Mitch's are tragic and pretty specific.

Angel season 2, episode 21, "Through the Looking Glass":
    -Synopsis
-Big Question: Will Angel stay in Pylea in season 3?
-Kristen says no. Mitch says yes. We shall see.
-Angel and Buffy both hit their lowest lows in these episodes.
-This episode showed Angel at both his highest highs and lowest lows.
-Season 2 of Angel has been about deconstructing who Angel is, and this is a whole new facet of that.
-FRED! Angel gets to ride a horse!
-Cordy starts this episode at a very lofty high, but has fallen quite low by the end.
-Cordy and the Groosalug: We ship it.
-Time to get your com-shuk on, Cordy.
    -Wolf-Ram-Hart.
-Mitch really needs to meet the Senior Partners to feel the big-bad-ness of Wolfram and Hart.
    -Mitch predicts misery for himself.
-Is Lorne dead? His head is on a platter. Things don't look good.
-Cordy's final moments of the episode show she is definitely at a new low.

    Listener Feedback:
-We find out that Dawn may not have always been intended to be The Key. Wait, what?!
    -All the Superfans love Numfar!
-We are still figuring out our schedule for the two-parters coming up. Stay tuned for the plan.
-We can't really do live reactions, but if we ever figure it out, it would be FUN!
-It's hard to stop watching after just one episode.
-We have a Maple Leafs fan!
-And we hope you enjoy your Firefly rewatch.
    Mitch's Musings/Kristen's Kontemplations:
–Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 5, episode 22, "The Gift"
–Angel season 2, episode 22, "There’s No Place like Plrtz Glrb"
