Ep 784 | Did the Resurrection Really Happen? | Guest: Jeremiah Johnston Apr 06, 2023

Show notes

Today we're joined by Dr. Jeremiah Johnston, president of the Christian Thinkers Society, pastor of apologetics and cultural engagement at Prestonwood Baptist Church, and author of "Body of Proof: The 7 Best Reasons to Believe in the Resurrection of Jesus—and Why it Matters Today," to discuss Jesus' resurrection and apologetics as a whole. We touch both on how to raise Christian thinkers and how to become Christian thinkers ourselves, citing how Jesus asks us to love God with our hearts and minds. We discuss the legacy of the Christian faith and the many wonderful things Christian thinking has brought to societies. Then we look specifically at the resurrection and why it's so fundamental to not just our beliefs as Christians but to the world overall. We cover some of the facts that prove it really happened and answer the question of why it matters for us now.

Ep 783 | Is Trump Headed to Prison or the Presidency? | Guest: Steve Deace Apr 05, 2023

Show notes

Today we're joined by one of your favorite guests, BlazeTV's own Steve Deace, host of the "Steve Deace Show," to discuss Trump's arrest and Steve's new movie, "Nefarious." Yesterday Trump pled not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records brought upon him by a Manhattan grand jury. We talk about how this is just an escalation of what has been going on the past few years and how this isn't a legal proceeding – it's a political one. We look at this from a theological approach and then discuss why we need to see a political power correction by Republicans, spiritual revival, and a generational changeover. Then, we talk about Steve's new movie, "Nefarious," which aims to portray the truth about the demonic world and give an opportunity for you to talk to your friends about Jesus.

Ep 782 | 'Pronoun Hospitality' Is Sin: Rosaria Butterfield’s Confession Apr 04, 2023

Show notes

Today we're looking at Uganda's "Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023" and the response from the U.S. Two weeks ago Uganda passed legislation that would rather severely criminalize homosexuality. We first look at a Washington Post opinion piece that argues that much of Africa is "marching back on LGBT rights" and reveals quite a bit about how leftists see their own morality in comparison to the rest of the world. The Ugandan bill is waiting to be signed by Uganda's president, but what was the United States' response? Threatening to withdraw aid. We discuss the Left's insistence on imposing its ideas of what equality should look like, when it's clear that Africa doesn't care at all what leftists think. Then, Rosaria Butterfield posted an article yesterday in which she repents for her previous use of preferred pronouns and calling other Christians to do the same. We explain why her view is exactly right and why Christians who disagree are missing the big picture and risking their witness.

Ep 781 | NHL Christians Stand Up, Trump Indictment, Trans Vengeance Apr 03, 2023

Show notes

Today we're talking about Trump's indictment and the endless rumors about what it means for both the upcoming presidential election and politics in general. While many speculate that his indictment means he's secured the Republican nomination, we argue that this event ultimately won't change the minds of Republicans who are sick of him. Then we talk about the Tr*ns Day of Visibility (which many activists deemed "Day of Vengeance"), which took place on Friday. Rallies across the country showed the true colors of the people arguing for "visibility," and one counter-protester, Billboard Chris, was assaulted. We discuss the NHL questioning its own "Pride Night" event after backlash and give an encouragement for those who are finding it hard to find good news of late. We end with a recap from Producer Bri on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour.

Ep 780 | No. I Won’t Let Them Blame Christians for Nashville Mar 30, 2023

Show notes

Today we're looking back at the aftermath of the Nashville tragedy and some of the awful rhetoric being promulgated by the media. First, we look at the Left's refusal to identify this atrocity as an anti-Christian attack when, if the victims were in a protected class, they would immediately identify the motive. We look at Audrey Hale's history of "not being accepted" by her parents and why some are seeing this as a reason for her inexcusable behavior. Then we discuss how after three 9-year-olds were murdered, the focus seems to be on the fact that alphabet people are scared. We look at where the violence is actually coming from and some ridiculous tweet reactions to the event, as well as yet another embarrassing moment from Biden.

Ep 779 | TikTok Is Spying on You: Here’s Why It Matters | Guest: Kara Frederick Mar 29, 2023

Show notes

Today we're joined by Kara Frederick, director of the Tech Policy Center at the Heritage Foundation, to discuss Congress' recent TikTok hearings and the arguments for and against a nationwide TikTok ban. We discuss how much power China holds over TikTok as a company and what, ultimately, China could do with our data. We talk about how it's not just a concern when it comes to government data and why it's also dangerous for China to have YOUR specific data. We also look at a clip from the TikTok hearing in which TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew cannot deny that the CCP is manipulating content on the app. But does China manipulate TikTok algorithms to push ideologies that weaken the U.S., while restricting those very same ideologies in its own country? We explain why it's naive to think the answer is no. We also talk about the RESTRICT Act, a bill proposed to ban TikTok, and the opposition from both sides of the political aisle.

Ep 778 | Take Heart, Nashville: Evil Will Not Win Mar 28, 2023

Show notes

Today we're talking about a difficult topic – the shooting that occurred at a Christian school yesterday in Nashville, claiming the lives of six people, three of whom were children. We start with a word of encouragement, as emotions are high: God sees this, he is grieved by it more than any of us could ever be, and he will do something about it. We share our condolences to the families of the victims, one of whom was the 9-year-old daughter of a beloved local pastor. The shooter, a woman who identified as a man, was killed by brave police less than 15 minutes after they got the first call. We take a look at some of the rhetoric that's been spreading since the shooting, from news correspondents blaming conservatives to anti-Christian messages of "understanding" about the shooter's potential motive against Christians. We also look at trans activists' recent history of inciting violence against those they deem "genocidal." Yet despite the increasing tensions, we know whom we can take comfort in.

Ep 777 | On Duggar Theology, Josh’s Arrest, & Media Lies | Guests: Jinger Duggar Vuolo & Jeremy Vuolo Mar 27, 2023

Show notes

Today we’re joined again by Jinger Duggar Vuolo, author of "Becoming Free Indeed: My Story of Disentangling Faith from Fear ," and Jeremy Vuolo to discuss their theology deep dive into Bill Gothard's teachings and how Jinger found herself in gospel truth. In her new book, Jinger shares her theological journey from following a fundamentalist leader to finding freedom in Christ. We discuss the immediate response to the book and some criticisms she has faced because of it. Jeremy shares how his upbringing shaped their theology after they met, and we talk about their study of the Duggars' traditional belief system and Jinger's realization that this theology was not entirely biblical. We also discuss Jinger's brother Josh, who is currently in prison, and how his actions, as well as the media portrayal of Christianity as a whole because of his actions, led Jinger and Jeremy to speak out for the true gospel. We also look at the lies spread about Jessa Duggar Seewald's miscarriage a few weeks ago, which many anti-Christian news sources claimed was an abortion. How do these lies affect Jinger, and how do Jinger and Jeremy cope with this media scrutiny?

Ep 776 | China & Russia Join Forces as US Debates the Racism of Coffee Mar 23, 2023

Show notes

Today our theme is "laugh so you don't cry" – we're covering some of the ridiculous things happening in our world, and while things are looking bleak, we're going to laugh at the absurdity. First, China's Xi Jinping and Russia's Putin met last week to ... take over the world? Meanwhile, in the U.S., the cast of "Ted Lasso" visits a White House press briefing (because we have time for that apparently), Joe Biden still can't seem to read from a prompter, and Vice President Kamala Harris sends a formal letter congratulating Dylan Mulvaney on 365 days of pretending to be a girl. We also take a look at a list of things that are now apparently racist, including coffee, ballet, and highways, and discuss Robin DiAngelo pushing for segregation.

Ep 775 | Pastors: Stop Trying to Be Nicer Than God Mar 22, 2023

Show notes

Today we're starting off with a quick Trump update before diving into news from behind the pulpit. First, Pastor Mike Todd made waves after a recent sermon in which he talks about gender identity and sexuality in a pretty bizarre way. We look at the full context of the clip and break down what he was likely trying to say and why it isn't quite as bad as the viral clip going around makes it seem (albeit still strange). We explain why we don't need caveats or apologies for what God says. Then, a progressive pastor on TikTok claims that "drag is holy," and we break down his obviously ridiculous statement. Also, another NHL player recently refused to wear a pride-themed jersey for his team's pride event. While it's good that his team supported him in choosing not to endorse the agenda, the whole situation raises the question: Why do sports teams need to make a statement about this to begin with?
