Ep 370 | The Shocking Anti-History, Anti-Science Influence on Public Education | Guest: Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson Feb 16, 2021

Show notes

North Carolina recently approved a new curriculum that would teach elements of critical race theory to K-12 students, despite the move being extremely unpopular. The state's lieutenant governor, Mark Robinson, the first black person to hold that position, has been very outspoken in his opposition to these changes to North Carolina's education system. Robinson was in turn "attacked" by the leftist media, who accused him of racism and worse. We speak with Lt. Gov. Robinson about the attacks against him and the new radical curriculum. Then, we discuss the CDC's recent guidelines on school reopenings. Spoiler alert: Not many schools will be opening under these guidelines. These guidelines are so crazy that even Jake Tapper of CNN and the Washington Post aren't happy about them. Seems like politics has prevailed, and teachers' unions contributed more to the guidelines than science and data.

Ep 369 | The Bachelor, Solly Baby & Gina Carano: How (and How Not) to Handle the Mob Feb 15, 2021

Show notes

Today, as we often do, we're discussing cancel culture. The "cancel mob" can never be satisfied, and more celebrities are being canceled for holding views contrary to the Left, because of course, you can never be woke enough. Gina Carano of the Disney show "The Mandalorian" was fired by Disney for supposedly "abhorrent" tweets, but the same standard isn't being applied to Pedro Pascal, her co-star. Pascal and Carano both tweeted images that compared America to Nazi Germany, but only one of them is being fired. Meanwhile, Rachel Kirkconnell, rumored to be the next winner of "The Bachelor," has been accused of racism for attending an antebellum-themed party a few years ago. Not only that, but when host of the show Chris Harrison called for cooler heads to prevail, he himself was attacked online by the Twitter mob. Lastly, Solly Baby, a company that makes baby products, has come under fire for cultural appropriation after seeking to patent its new baby carrier.

Ep 368 | What Is Love? Feb 11, 2021

Show notes

Today we're taking a break from the news and focusing on the topic of love from a biblical, theological perspective, just in time for Valentine's Day! Christians don't need to worry about the ever-changing standards the secular world has for what love looks like, but rather we should be concerned with conforming to God's definition of love. C.S. Lewis wrote about four types of love: storge, philia, eros, and agape. Although there is a healthy and godly place for each of these types of love in our lives, they also present an opportunity for Satan to sow corruption.

Ep 367 | China’s Real Threat & Dems’ Fake Impeachment | Guest: Melissa Chen Feb 11, 2021

Show notes

Today we're speaking with Melissa Chen, a writer for the Spectator and an expert on China. Melissa describes how the Biden administration's approach to China (or lack thereof) compares to what the Trump administration has done. Basically all that has happened so far is that Biden has reversed many of Trump's executive actions and orders regarding China, and his administration banned the term "China virus," so that's just great. Seems like the current president is more concerned with moral posturing around race rather than the geopolitical threat presented by the CCP. Then, we give a quick rundown of what's going on with Trump's impeachment. The Senate voted to move forward with the trial, but conviction is very unlikely. As we've said before, Trump is often clumsy with his words, but he definitely did not incite violence on January 6.

Ep 366 | NYT, the 'N-Word,' and Becoming Uncancelable Feb 09, 2021

Show notes

Today we're discussing cancel culture through a theological lens. The leftist outrage mob came for a longtime NYT writer reported to have used the "N-word" in a meeting. From a biblical perspective, Christians don't need to be worried about cancel culture, since even though the standards of the world are always changing, God's standards aren't. Then, we talk to Professor William Jacobson, who created CriticalRace.org as a resource for parents and students to see what kind of ideology universities are teaching.

Ep 365 | Best of the Super Bowl & the Worst of Progressivism Feb 08, 2021

Show notes

Despite cynicism from conservatives, many of the Super Bowl commercials were pretty funny this year. Some, like the Jeep commercial featuring Bruce Springsteen, tried to virtue-signal to the Right, but didn't accomplish much since the Right isn't a fan of Springsteen and the Left decried the association the commercial made between Christianity and patriotism. Some on the Left are declaring the day after the Super Bowl "Colin Kaepernick Appreciation Day," but it seems like the millionaire activist has a lot to appreciate himself. Switching gears to talk about a more serious issue, we delve into the effect lockdowns are having on the mental health of our kids. This seems to be part of a larger social experiment by progressives to break down long-standing facets of our society, like family and gender norms. At the end of the day, a top-down approach to governing goes against human nature.

Ep 364 | Christians vs. Cancel Culture | Guest: Dr. Christina Crenshaw Feb 04, 2021

Show notes

Today we're excited to sit down with Baylor University professor Dr. Christina Crenshaw, who has recently made headlines for questioning the Biden administration's expansion of protections for transgender people. A small but loud group of students have been calling for her to be fired, but Dr. Crenshaw is holding strong against the cancel culture mob.

Ep 363 | Truth: The Dread of "Reality Czars" Feb 03, 2021

Show notes

A New York Times opinion piece recommends the Biden administration create a "reality czar" to combat misinformation. That couldn't possibly go wrong, could it? The right to free speech and the truth itself are a big problem for those with totalitarian aspirations. Speaking of totalitarian, Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee of Texas has introduced a gun control bill that acts as though the Second Amendment doesn't exist. And, we take a look into the horrific allegations against Ariel Robinson, which the media has been strangely quiet on.
