Ep 380 | Pastor James Coates Imprisoned: Persecution or Ploy? | Guest: Erin Coates Mar 04, 2021

Show notes

Today we're discussing the idea of religious persecution regarding Pastor James Coates of GraceLife Church in Alberta, Canada. Pastor Coates is in jail right now for holding his church services at full capacity instead of the 15% capacity mandated by the government. A point of contention among Christian circles has been whether this qualifies as religious persecution or not. To give further details and commentary on the situation, Erin Coates, the pastor's wife, joins us. We address the theology of the situation and offer some encouragement for the future.

Ep 379 | Texas Is Open, Cuomo Is a Creep, and Rand Paul Is Based Mar 03, 2021

Show notes

Yesterday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that Texas will no longer have a statewide mask mandate and that the government will no longer require businesses to operate at reduced capacity. Then, we discuss New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and the #MeToo moment he's having right now. Three women have accused him of harassment, and unlike Cuomo's nursing home COVID scandal, the media actually seems to care about this one. And, it's time we addressed the much-talked-about exchange between Senator Rand Paul and Rachel Levine during Dr. Levine's confirmation hearing.

Ep 378 | Dr. Seuss Is Racist & Everything Is Stupid Mar 02, 2021

Show notes

In perhaps its most controversial move yet, the Biden administration did not honor Dr. Seuss during National Read Across America Day. If we keep canceling authors for their perceived problems, will there be any books left to read? Maybe just the ones by Robin DiAngelo or Ibram X. Kendi. This kind of cultural revolt against anything "old" has been seen before in Mao's China, to horrifying effect. The progressives of today have a similarly utopian dream, but the road to get to the equity they want so much is laden with suffering. Maybe we should stop burning books, literally or figuratively? They want math to be more equitable too: Some teachers are now being told that it's white supremacy to look for a single correct answer to a problem.

Ep 377 | 'The Bachelor' Cancel Queen Gets Canceled Mar 01, 2021

Show notes

Today we're discussing the controversy surrounding Taylor Nolan, Chris Harrison, and "The Bachelor," as well as Trump's return to the spotlight at CPAC. Taylor Nolan of "The Bachelor" has long been a champion of cancel culture and a self-proclaimed expert on all things woke. But that didn't save her from the rage mob when it was discovered that she had some offensive tweets of her own from years back. Incredibly, Taylor shifted the blame from herself to society at large. This is a classic example of the double-edged nature of cancel culture: Once they set their sights on you, no amount of wokeness can save you. As Christians, we know that God has the authority to really cancel us for all eternity, but we find our joy in his grace and forgiveness — two traits that cancel culture is sorely lacking. Moving on to CPAC, Trump took the stage to deride the Biden administration's stance on school openings and the fact that allowing transgender girls to compete in women's sports is harmful to biological girls. Many at CPAC said they would vote for Donald Trump if he ran again, but the man would be over 80 years old by then! Others say that Florida Gov. Ron Desantis could be a kind of Trump 2.0, since his state is faring quite well in the pandemic compared to blue states and he has taken other strong stances conservatives approve of.

Ep 376 | How the Equality Act Opposes Science & Faith | Guest: Lila Rose Feb 25, 2021

Show notes

Today we're talking about the Equality Act as well as Joe Biden's pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra. The man who succeeded Kamala Harris as AG of California, Becerra has already proved himself to be a pro-abortion politician. Christian Democrats who say they are pro-choice should really know better; one can't reconcile an acceptance of abortion with adherence to God's word, the Bible. A major piece of legislation that Democrats want passed is the Equality Act, and it's about much more than who can use which bathroom. There are much broader implications in this act for kids and churches, and to speak about that, we welcome pro-life activist Lila Rose to the show.

Ep 375 | Max Lucado, Carl Lentz & Ravi Zacharias: When Christian Leaders Disappoint Feb 24, 2021

Show notes

Today we're covering a much-requested topic: the situations surrounding Carl Lentz, Ravi Zacharias, and Max Lucado. What do we do when our Christian teachers and leaders let us down? Sin can happen to anyone, and it's always sad to discover that people weren't who we thought they were. Such is the case for Carl Lentz and Ravi Zacharias, who were revealed to behave differently behind closed doors. But remember, the strength of your faith shouldn't rely on our imperfect human leaders, but on God, who never changes. We also discuss the unfolding drama around Max Lucado, who is under fire for his views on LGBTQ marriage. Max ended up apologizing for his views, even though he still likely believes in the biblical definition of marriage. So why do it?

Ep 374 | Merrick Garland's Troubling Views on Gender and Equity Feb 23, 2021

Show notes

Today we're going to break down some of the most important aspects of Judge Merrick Garland's confirmation hearing. Why is the attorney general important? What job does he actually do within an administration? Unlike the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh or Amy Coney Barrett, the confirmation of Judge Garland is expected to go relatively smoothly. We'll talk about Judge Garland's response to Sen. John Kennedy asking him about women in sports and what that means for gender issues going forward. How does it set the tone for what we can expect from the Biden administration? And, what about Tom Cotton questioning Judge Garland on the difference between racial equality and equity? Unfortunately, Judge Garland's response leaves the door open for critical race theory in government.

Ep 373 | Uncovering Andrew Cuomo's COVID Corruption | Guest: Janice Dean Feb 22, 2021

Show notes

Today we're going over the corruption of Andrew Cuomo regarding COVID deaths in nursing homes. We look at the timeline of the pandemic in New York and the accusations of dishonesty by Cuomo's administration. Despite glowing coverage from the mainstream media in the past, Cuomo's corruption is finally coming to light — even though people on the Right have known for quite some time. Speaking of media coverage, we also discuss the differing responses that New York and Florida had to the coronavirus and how their governors were treated differently by the media. Then, we talk to Janice Dean of Fox News, who was personally affected by Andrew Cuomo's decision to put COVID-positive people in nursing homes.

Ep 371 | Power Outages, Moral Relativism & Middle Parts Feb 17, 2021

Show notes

For the past several days, Texas and other southern states have been slammed with record low temperatures. Many of the people and organizations in these areas were not prepared for the severe conditions, leaving millions without electricity. Frozen pipes are a problem as well, and there are heartbreaking reports of what's going on with our elderly in nursing homes during this time. Some on the Left, like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Beto O'Rourke, have claimed that this is all about climate change and that this is exactly why we need a Green New Deal. Naturally, this is hypocritical of AOC and Beto. Is weather related to climate or not? Texas gets 25% of its power from renewable energy, and during this cold snap, we've seen wind turbines frozen in place and solar panels covered in ice, limiting the state's ability to return power to the people. Also, we discuss last night's town hall with President Joe Biden, in which he said some questionable things about minorities and children, but more importantly, he sidestepped a chance to denounce the totalitarian behavior of the government of China. Biden had no interest in denouncing the CCP, in an eerily similar parallel to the appeasement of Germany right before World War II.

We were shocked and saddened to hear that while we were recording this episode, legendary radio host Rush Limbaugh passed away, and we will be addressing this in our next episode along with the horrific reactions from Twitter and the Left.
