Episode 293: Building Resilience and Courage with Ginny Owens Jul 24, 2025
    Show notes

Ginny Owens has spent the past two decades sharing her heart with listeners and readers as a singer-songwriter, author, teacher and advocate. Her unique musical style and inspirational lyrics have transcended gender definition and taken her to diverse venues that include, the White House, the Sun Dance Film Festival, Lilith Fair and the National Day of Prayer in Washington, D.C.

As a toddler, Ginny picked out melodies on the piano before she was able to put words together in a sentence. Even as vision left her eyes, a degenerative eye condition left Ginny completely blind by age three. Songs began to emerge from her finger tips. Providing a window into the world she could not see. Not all Ginny’s words are set to music. Her first solo authored book, “Singing in the Dark,” finding hope in the songs of scripture. Shares her personal story as well as stories from scripture. Taking readers on a journey to find hope amidst their own challenges.

Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, she moved to Nashville, TN to attend Belmont University and made her home in Music City for many years. She now lives in New York City, and is on staff with Redeemer and you will love hearing us talk about the work she’s currently doing there.

Prepare to take notes as our dear friend Ginny reminds us what it looks like to build resilience in kids from the earliest years.

Episode 292: Curing the Bedtime Blues with Ziggy Marley  Jul 22, 2025
    Show notes

Ziggy Marley is an eight-time Grammy winner, he’s also a deeply grounded human, who leads with kindness, purpose and a whole lot of love.

Ziggy grew up as the eldest son of reggae icon Bob Marley and he’s carried that legacy with so much grace. But here’s what we love most. Ziggy isn’t just creating music that moves people, he’s raising a family with intention leading with character and showing his kids and all of us what it means to live with integrity and joy.

He is a dad of seven, and the way he talks about parenting is just beautiful! And delightful to hear his accent. Ziggy talks about being present, about listening, about letting his kids be who they are. It’s the kind of stuff we talk about everyday. Connection over control, guiding instead of forcing. He’s not just about parenting, he’s an advocate, a humanitarian and author of children’s books that are just as vibrant and thoughtful as his music.

Everything he creates, he does with a lot of heart. So whether you’re tapping your toes to True to Myself or reading one of his picture books like his newest “Pajammin” at bedtime. Ziggy Marley is one of those people who makes the world feel a little brighter, a little more loving and a whole lot more hopeful.

Stay tuned, because we have a really fun conversation about how to navigate bedtime battles in a super creative way. You will love this conversation with Ziggy Marley.

Episode 290: A Family Conversation with Caleb & Will Chapman (of Colony House) and Julia Chapman & Jillian Chapman Jul 15, 2025
    Show notes

Colony House is an Indie rock band made up of brothers Will and Caleb Chapman. As well as Scott Mills and Parke Cottrell is playfully self described as land lock surf rock. Their personal genre designation is as much inspired by their hometown of Franklin, TN as their new album the Cannonballers is. The band's music is built on pillars of honesty, accessibility and family.

The Cannonballers marks the band's 4th full length release. Their 3 previous studio collections take listeners on a journey through stories of loss, grief and heartbreak. While welcoming them into the hope that comes on the other side.

The band has performed their songs for world-wide audiences with 2 appearances on both Late Night with Seth Meyers and Conan. As well as the Today Show, VH1’s Morning Buzz and MTV Live. The Cannonballers is an app addition to the band's catalog. Staying true to what Colony House does best and expanding on what their fans have gravitated to for the past decade. Hope and light in the midst of it all.

No frills, no gemicks just heart, level, rock and roll music. Caleb is joined today by his delightful wife, Julia who is the Director of Operations for Show Hope, an organization we love and respect. Will is joined by his wife the incredibly talented Jullian Edwards whose music we love and recommend often.
