    Quintessential Poetry: Online Radio, YouTube and Zoom

    The mission of the Quintessential Poetry: Online Radio, YouTube and Zoom podcast (QPORYTZ) is to provide a live platform for poets from all backgrounds and locations worldwide to showcase their poetry. This includes emerging, mid-level, and established poets. The podcast conducts conversational interviews with poets delving into the essence of poetry within the realms of the mind, heart, and soul. It also provides a platform for poets to showcase their craft, whether through traditional forms or spoken word poetry.     Dr. Michael Anthony Ingram is a retired university professor, social change activist, and spoken word artist. He taught Counselor Education and Supervision in the College of Education at Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR. He is the host and producer of the Quintessential Poetry Online Radio, YouTube and Zoom podcast (qporytz.com). He is also the Founder and Executive Director of the DC Poetry Project, Inc., in Washington DC. He uses poetry to spread awareness about power, identity, and oppression issues. His international reputation as a spoken word artist and performance poet has earned him the nickname The Counseling Poet. This is based on his background in mental health. Dr. Ingram has traveled extensively, lecturing and conducting workshops on developing cultural competency and empathy skills through the use of poetry. He has also been nominated for a Pushcart Prize for his poetry. His second poetry collection, Metaphorically Screaming is forthcoming. He resides in Washington, DC. RSSVERIFY

    Teresa Pearsall-Young is a native of Philadelphia, Pa, and was recently married to Pastor Anthony Young in 2021. She graduated from Overbrook High School in Philadelphia & earned an Associate Arts Degree from Southern New Hampshire University in 2019. Teresa has an extensive background in the Customer Service Healthcare field. Teresa surrendered her life to the Lord 22 years ago and has faced some struggles but has never given up on Christ. Teresa is a mother of one biological daughter, a grandmother of three, and a friend to many. God has blessed Teresa with a heart for helping people and the gifts of administrative help in the corporate world and ministry. Teresa is passionate about cooking; (ask folks about her potato salad and banana pudding) and most passionate about writing. Her writing extends into instructional documentation, short stories, and, her favorite, poetry. Teresa has been writing since a young teen, authoring stories, plays, and songs. Her writing talents went to another level when she gave her life to Christ. She has prepared many theme-based poems and writings for women's conferences and family dedications and continues to write about the wrongs and rights of life, always giving God the glory. ‘Seeds, Trees, Branches & Leaves, Teresa’s first book published in May 2021, is a compilation of poems and ‘stories’ summing up testimonies of life Before and After HIM, with the purpose of sharing how life’s journey and knowing Christ changed her life. The book is available on Amazon and other outlets. Teresa continues in ministry circles, being fed in the word and creatively sharing what has been learned about Jesus and the Kingdom of God. She has a heart for hurting women and hopes to help them find healing from their pain by expressing what they have been carrying so it will no longer hinder their future progress.

    Teresa E. Gallion was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and moved to Illinois at the age of 15. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Illinois Chicago and received her master’s degree in Psychology from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She retired from New Mexico state government in 2012. Teresa is a seeker on a journey to work on unfolding spiritually in this present lifetime. Writing is a spiritual exercise for Teresa. Her passions are traveling the world and hiking the mountain and desert landscapes of the western United States. The land is sacred ground and her spiritual temple where she goes for quiet reflection and contemplation. She has published four books: Walking Sacred Ground, Contemplation in the High Desert, Chasing Light, a finalist in the 2013 New Mexico/Arizona Book Awards and her most recent book, Scent of Love, a finalist in the 2021 New Mexico/Arizona Book Awards.     Natalia Lazarus, a woman for all seasons, is a talented, captivating, and alluring International Actor, Stage Producer, Director, and Acting Coach with over 30 years in the Entertainment Industry. She is Syd Field’s “docent” and one of the few in the world authorized to teach his screenwriting technique. Natalia was privileged to have studied with Syd for 6 years. Natalia Lazarus is the Artistic Director at the helm of The Promenade Playhouse and the CEO/Founder of the prestigious and highly revered Los Angeles Performing Arts Conservatory in Santa Monica, CA which celebrated its 25th Anniversary Year in 2021.     Melody S. Gee is the author of The Dead in Daylight (Cooper Dillon Books, 2016) and Each Crumbling House (Perugia Press, 2010), winner of the Perugia Press Prize. She is the recipient of Kundiman poetry and fiction fellowships, two Pushcart Prize nominations, and the Robert Watson Literary Prize. Her poems, essays, and reviews appear in Commonweal Magazine, Blood Orange Review, Lantern Review, and The Rappahannock Review.     Caylin Capra-Thomas's works include the chapbooks Inside My Electric City (YesYes Books) and The Marilyn Letters (dancing girl press). Her latest work is Iguana, Iguana (2022). Her poems have appeared in journals including New England Review, Pleiades, Copper Nickel, 32 Poems, Hayden's Ferry Review, and many others. The 2018-2020 poet in-residence at Idyllwild Arts Academy, she now lives in Columbia, Missouri, where she is a PhD student in English and creative writing. Alive to the beauty and anxiety of new worlds and people, Iguana Iguana imagines a tough and tender soundtrack for tumbleweeds in search of roots. Recursive, deliberate, and as adaptive as their titular lizard, these poems invite us to listen so as to better hear “...the sweet shriek / of those far-off trains you suspect are coming / to claim you. To lay open the hills you haven’t seen.” Caylin Capra-Thomas writes about understanding the strangers we meet and knowing the stranger within. In doing so, she maps a blueprint for "lay[ing] into the world / like it's good enough".

    Gordon Ferris was born and raised in Finglas, a North West suburb of Dublin. In the early eighties, he moved to Donegal where he has lived ever since. He started writing in 2014 and has had many short stories and poems in publications including Hidden Channel, A New Ulster, The Galway Review, Impspired Magazine, and Lothlorien Poetry Journal. He has also won prizes in the summer 2020 HITA Creative Writing Competition for his poem 'Mother', and won the winter competition for his poem 'The Silence'. Gordon was awarded a Poetry Town Bursary by Poetry Ireland.

    Sylvia Dianne Beverly is an Internationally acclaimed poet, presenting poetry in London, England, at the Lewisham Theater. A collection of her work is housed at George Washington University's Gelman Library. Ladi Di, as she is affectionally called is a proud member of Poets on the Green Line, Poetry X Hunger, Poetry Poster Project and Voices of Woodlawn. She celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Host Grace Cavalieri, reading on her show "The Poet and the Poem" at the Library of Congress Experience. She is a founding member of the Anointed PENS (Poets Empowered to Nurture Souls) Poetry Ministry, out of Ebenezer AME Church, an alum of Poets in Progress with Poet Laureate of District of Columbia, the late Dolores Kendrick. She is author of two books (Forever In Your Eyes and Cooking Up South). Recently her poetry appears in several International anthologies, Moonstone Press Anthology and part of Mike Maggio”s 30/30 Series for National Poetry month 2021 and 2022. The late Dr. Maya Angelou is her hero. She is the proud Matriarch of her family. Celebrating Black History 2018, she and her family received posthumously for her Dad, a “Congressional Gold Medal” from the United States Marines. He has poems translated into several languages such as Farsi, Chinses, Spanish, Albanian, Romanian. He has published some poetry chapbooks, and a collection of short stories. He has been nominated for Best of the Net 2019 and was also nominated for the Pushcart Price 2020.
