    ¿Quién Tú Eres?

Most people think professionalism is about fitting in, but what if it’s actually the reason we feel disconnected from ourselves?

This podcast explores the tension between who we are and who we feel pressured to be at work, in relationships, and in everyday life.

Through candid conversations, we unpack how different environments shape our behavior, how limiting beliefs form, and what it looks like to actually understand yourself beyond the roles you play.

After graduating from the 2-year Honors Program at New York Law School, Janelle began her career defending employees who were illegally underpaid by their employers. While she thoroughly enjoyed her work and the clients she served (mostly undocumented immigrants), she sought to expand her knowledge within employment law and began working for a firm that specialized in workplace discrimination and sexual harassment claims. As someone who had personally experienced sexual harassment and stalking while in law school, Janelle took a personal interest in representing workers who had faced similar experiences in the workplace with little to no protections afforded to them. Hundreds of represented employees later, Janelle joined a hiring and payroll startup as the Leader of Labor Affairs and oversaw legal matters relating to labor and employment law, business contracts, and general counseling work as needed.

Janelle founded Gen Esq Law to provide quality affordable legal options to small businesses and employees. Through her TikTok educational videos, Janelle continues to dedicate her time and talents to helping make the workplace a more fair, appropriate, and prosperous environment for all.

In this week’s episode, Janelle tells all about her life as a Latina in law and how she found herself opening her own practice. As a kid, her father instilled a lot of confidence in herself and her actions. Today she uses the same confidence she’s learned to feel comfortable in every room she’s in and win her cases. She uses TikTok to spread awareness about NYC labor and discrimination laws and is currently accepting clients. Listen to this episode to hear all about her incredible journey to becoming a founder and a viral sensation.

This week's been a rollercoaster. Caught myself getting judgmental after an anxiety nap, questioning the realness of my feelings. It's been hard, honestly feeling a bit emotional and just craving a hug from my Abuela. Despite trying to stick to my ideal morning routine—waking up early, hydrating, journaling, hitting the gym—I've been thrown off, especially when my schedule doesn't go as planned.

Ironically, marking my three-year anniversary out of corporate life made me reflect on the importance of routine for my mental health. Yet, I've struggled with self-doubt, especially on days I felt unproductive. A successful speaking engagement gave me a moment of validation, reminding me why I do what I do, despite the internal battles with imposter syndrome.

I've realized it's crucial to celebrate the wins, no matter how small, and change the narrative I tell myself. Taking care of my mental health is essential, not a sign of weakness. It's about being kind to ourselves, recognizing our accomplishments, and understanding our worth isn't tied to productivity. As I look forward to the launch of the Plurawl app, it's a reminder to stay true to ourselves and cherish those moments of joy and validation.

Do you celebrate your progress? Are you impatient with the process?

Pabel's his biggest critic and he often finds himself feeling impatient ont he progress he's making. That said, one meeting seems to have shifted his whole perspective on productivity, success, and celebration.

He went from feeling insecure/ impatient to feeling like he could bench press a building...while rapping DMX...in the song "What's My Name?".

With an extensive background in the entertainment industry, she has honed a diverse skill set including comedy, writing, and content creation. Her passion for storytelling and creativity allows her to create original and engaging content across all platforms. She’s currently working on the trailer for her dream project. She is manifesting good reviews for the trailer and hoping the dramedy makes its debut on HBO!

In this week’s episode, Jasmine tells us how she maintained her authenticity, both in school and in the workplace. While attending Barnard, an Ivy League school, she experienced a culture shock and started to learn what was ok and was not ok to say in PWIs (predominantly white institutions). This kind of social education continued in the corporate setting where she found herself going head to head with toxic hierarchical company cultures. In the end, Jasmine decided that she would be comfortable making others uncomfortable if it meant dismantling the hierarchy that was holding her and her colleagues back. Tune in to hear how her shamelessness, as she describes it, has allowed her to live her most authentic self.
