    Problematic Women

Conservative women are “Problematic Women.” We are proud to be pro-life, pro-family, and pro-traditional American values. Because we don’t fit the left’s version of what a feminist should be, we have been labeled PROBLEM and we have embraced the title.

What Jane Austen Can Teach Us About Dating Today Feb 10, 2022
    Show notes

Few authors have influenced society's ideas about romance more than Jane Austen.

The English novelist, born in 1775, lived only to age 41. In her short life, Austin completed six novels, including her most famous, “Pride and Prejudice.”

With Valentine's Day just around the corner on Feb. 14—or the alternative Singles Awareness Day on Feb. 15— it’s a good time to reflect on Austen’s legacy.

Far more than the usual novelist, Austen instructs readers toward a moral good, just as a philosopher would, Brenda Hafera, a senior policy analyst in American studies at The Heritage Foundation, says.

Austen challenges class structures and common stereotypes for both men and women. She forces readers to look past the surface in romantic relationships to consider the character and intellect of a life partner.

Today on “Problematic Women,” we discuss the lessons we can learn from Austen in an age of dating apps and casual relationships.

Also on today’s show, we talk about he best way to celebrate Valentine’s Day as a single person, and why some brands are giving consumers the option to opt out of Valentine's Day promotional emails.

Plus, the Winter Olympics are in full swing in Beijing. We break down why China never should have been given the honor of hosting the games. And as always, we crown our Problematic Woman of the Week.

Author Rebecca Stow Shares Ways to 'Make Your 20s Suck (a Little) Less’ Feb 08, 2022
    Show notes

Many college graduates enter "the real world” with grand expectations. They have high hopes of landing a stable job with a good salary, forming a strong community of friends, and maybe even meeting a special someone along the way.

And why should they not have great expectations for their lives? They have been told to dream big and shoot for the stars—and they should. But sometimes, what older and wiser adults fail to mention is that the good job with benefits, the close friends, and the life partner all take time—and a lot of work—to find, Rebecca Stow says.

Stow is the author of a new book, “Unbothered: What I Learned the Hard Way About College, Job Hunting, & How to Make Your 20s Suck (A Little) Less.” She writes in the first chapter, “I’m all about encouraging people to embrace their passions, but there has to be more realism in the process.”

Stow spent her first six years after college moving from job to job, searching for a career she truly enjoyed, and that would allow her to live on more than rice and beans.

Amid the rejection letters from employers and the challenge of finding her place in the post-college world, Stow says, she started to learn how to become “Unbothered,” how to keep hope alive when circumstances looked anything but hopeful—and never play the victim.

With wit and charm, Stow recalls the lessons she learned the hard way, and offers advice to other 20-somethings who are also trying to navigate life's challenges.

Stow joins the “Problematic Women” podcast to share her personal story, and offer some wisdom to other young people who also hope to become “Unbothered.”

Abortion in Every Mailbox and Pregnant Men Emojis Feb 03, 2022
    Show notes

This year is arguably the most significant year in the fight for life since Roe v. Wade made abortion legal across America in 1973.

The federal right to abortion could be overturned this summer by the Supreme Court's ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. If the court overturns Roe v. Wade, abortion rights would go back to the states to decide their own laws on the issue.

Abortion is no longer “safe, legal, and rare,” phrasing coined by then-presidential candidate Bill Clinton in 1992. More than 63 million babies have been killed by abortion since Roe v. Wade, and one of the newer ways the abortion industry is promoting and profiting from abortion is through chemical abortions.

Chemical abortions are conducted at home with two pills. The body is forced into labor, and women experience heavy cramping and bleeding. Despite the dangers associated with chemical abortions, the Food and Drug Administration has loosened restrictions on the pills, making them accessible to women by mail.

Today, on the "Problematic Women" podcast, Mallory Carroll, the vice president of communications at pro-life organization Susan B. Anthony List, discusses the dangers of chemical abortions and why Planned Parenthood is heavily promoting the pills.

Why These Women Marched for Life, Against Vaccine Mandates Jan 25, 2022
    Show notes

Tens of thousands of people flooded the streets of the nation's capital on Friday and again on Sunday to stand for life and protest government overreach.

Despite temperatures being well below freezing Friday, busloads of students, church groups, and other Americans from across the county poured into Washington for the 49th annual March for Life.

Many in the pro-life movement gathered in hopes that this will be the last March for Life before Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 ruling legalizing abortion nationwide, is overturned. The Supreme Court is expected to rule on the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization in June, and could overturn Roe and send authority back to the states to determine abortion laws.

The Daily Signal spoke with a number of the marchers, including some individuals who at one time worked in the abortion industry.

The Daily Signal also attended the march against vaccine mandates on Sunday and spoke with several women who have lost, or may lose, their jobs because they don’t want to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

On today’s episode of “Problematic Women,” we share several of the conversations we had with women at The March for Life and at the march against vaccine mandates. These are women who are dedicated to being a voice for the unborn and for pushing back against authoritarianism and totalitarianism.

COVID-19 Myths & Michael Phelps on Sports Fairness Jan 20, 2022
    Show notes

Swimmer and Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps says sports should be played on an “even playing field.”

During a recent interview with CNN, Phelps was asked to give his opinion about University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas. Thomas is a biological male who competed as a male for three years before switching to the women’s team in 2020, after completing the required one year of testosterone-suppression treatment.

Thomas has dominated the female competition in recent meets and broke two national records in December.

Phelps says he believes everyone should be able to feel comfortable in their own skin, and “the one thing I would love is everybody being able to compete on an even playing field."

Today on "Problematic Women," we discuss Phelps' remarks and the debate over biological males competing in women’s sports. Also on today’s show, we break down a few of the COVID-19 conspiracy theories that have turned out to be true.

Plus, the March for Life is Friday. Learn why a progressive D.C. restaurant canceled a pro-life group’s breakfast reservation.

Kara Dansky Breaks Down Agenda of ‘Transgender’ Movement Jan 11, 2022
    Show notes

The true agenda of what has become known as the “transgender movement” is to abolish sex, according to author and self-declared feminist Kara Dansky.

Dansky, author of the new book “The Abolition of Sex: How the ‘Transgender’ Agenda Harms Women and Girls,” not only takes issue with the objective to destroy the concept of sex, but also with the use of the term “transgender.”

The term “transgender” was invented, but the “word has no coherent meaning whatsoever,” Dansky says, adding that “every single person on the face of the planet, all 8 billion of us, are either female or male, and that’s it.”

Dansky joins “Problematic Women” podcast to discuss the history of the term “transgender” and what she thinks the movement’s ultimate objective might be.

AOC’s Bizarre Defense of Florida Trip Highlights Left’s Hypocrisy Jan 06, 2022
    Show notes

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, states like Florida have received a lot of criticism from the political left for not requiring endless masking or imposing stringent lockdowns. Yet Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says, “If I had a dollar for every lockdown politician who decided to escape to Florida over the last two years, I’d be a pretty doggone wealthy man.”

DeSantis' remarks were made in response to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's recent trip to Florida over the Christmas holiday. National Review published photos of the Democrat congresswoman from New York sitting outside enjoying lunch with her boyfriend in Miami Beach, Florida.

Former Trump adviser Steve Cortes shared the photo on Twitter, writing, “If Leftists like AOC actually thought mandates and masking worked, they wouldn’t be frolicking in free FL.” He also took a jab at her boyfriend’s shoe choice, calling his sandals “hideous.”

    How did the congresswoman respond?

“If Republicans are mad they can’t date me they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet,” she tweeted, adding, “Ya creepy weirdos.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s response left many scratching their heads.

A few days later, Ocasio-Cortez was again seen maskless at a drag bar in Miami.

Florida's Conservative Voice founder Brendon Leslie reported the incident, tweeting, "For those of you with zero sense of humor: the whole point of this post is to expose hypocrisy. We don’t actually care she’s maskless. We care she fear mongers about Florida but then has the audacity to vacation here.”

On this week’s edition of the “Problematic Women” podcast, we discuss Ocasio-Cortez’s actions and the troubling COVID-19 policies being promoted by the left.

Also on today’s show, we discuss the media’s reporting of Sen. Ted Cruz’s daughter and give a brief update on the new host of "The Bachelor." And as always, we crown our “Problematic Woman of the Week.”

It's Always Winter in Communist Countries, but Never Christmas Dec 16, 2021
    Show notes

In his classic work “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” C.S. Lewis paints a picture of Narnia under the rule of the White Witch as a place where it is “always winter, but never Christmas.” Lewis used the imagery to describe the world under the influence of sin and death, but the analogy also proves a fitting description for nations struggling under communist rule.

This Christmas marks the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Soviet Union on Dec. 26, 1991. Sadly, millions of people across the globe still live under oppressive, totalitarian regimes in countries like Cuba and China.

Many young Americans today are advocates for communism and socialism because they aren't familiar with the history of communist nations, says Brenda Hafera, a senior policy analyst at The Heritage Foundation. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation.)

On today’s edition of the "Problematic Women" podcast, we discuss the bleak realities of communism and what should be done to educate the next generation on the realities of socialism.

Also on today’s show, we celebrate the holiday season with some Christmas trivia, plus we crown five of the most "Problematic Women” of 2021.
