    Artist Spotlight - J $wift Mar 11, 2016
    Show notes

Born and raised in the infamous streets of South East San Diego J Swift developed a love for music at a very early age and found it as the perfect way to communicate his thoughts. As early as elementary school he began to write his first rhymes and while most kids were worried about video games and candy, J Swift balanced his time focusing on perfecting his musical writing skills. J Swift took lessons from Hip Hop legends such as Jay Z, Method Man, 2-Pac and Biggie Smalls and combined their musical sounds with the classic oldies his father would listen too and brought them together too begin developing his flow and musical sounds. In Middle School J Swift got his first recognition when he allowed a friend to listen to a recording he had created at home and without telling his friend it was him rapping he was told that whoever it was on the tape was amazing and needed to keep creating music.
As J Swift entered High School he continued to record music and finished his first mix tape before graduation. This mixtape wasn’t really given the promotion it deserved as at the time J Swift was more focused on playing basketball. Upon his graduation however he picked music as the talent that would get his full attention and quickly reconnected with a number of Southern California entertainment professionals. As he began to record new music J Swift began gaining more and more attention within the West Coast music industry and was asked to appear on the San Diego classic “D.O.M. The Re-Mixtape.” This appearance not only led to more people taking notice of J Swift’s brand but also led to him being asked to create and release his own Re-Mixtape which he titled “$wift iz the name.” Both the release of this project along with his epic release party held in downtown San Diego established J Swift as a true force to be reckoned with and has him preparing new projects for release as well as building his own label in which he plans to not only release his own music through but also develop other artists on.
As J Swift continues to build upon his brand with promotional tours that have him traveling state to state spreading his music to the masses as well as creating new materials he quickly is coming upon his goal of becoming the best from the West.

Artist Spotlight - JP One Mar 03, 2016
    Show notes

In a day and age where lyricism seems to be the extinct, JP ONE, born Alvin Hill, has made it his sole focus. As an artist, he has crafted some of the most captivating hip- hop to date. As the CEO of Gifted & Talented, LLC, he has become one of the leading forces in Detroit’s hip-hop scene. He has released five critically-acclaimed mixtapes, close to two dozen videos and has been featured on WorldStar, VladTV, and othertop hip-hop sites… All of this in less than four years, since he was released from prison after serving nine years. This life has not been an easy journey for JP ONE, who was born in Detroit, MI, but soon moved to Benton Harbor, MI, after his father passed from a drug overdose. After a troubling 11 years with his mother, he would bounce around between foster homes and family members to juveniles for years, but he never gave up on his dreams.
At 15, he would sign to Motown Legend, Barrett Strong’s, Blarritt Records, as “Jackpot”. Although he would finish recording his debut album, Tha Chosen One, it would never see the light of day, due to an ill-fated brush with the law. While incarcerated, he occupied his time by writing lyrics and reading business books. Upon his release, he wasted no time. He started his own record label immediately and released his first mixtape, Tha Power of ONE, exactly four weeks after his release. Now, performing under the moniker, JP ONE, short for “Jackpot Tha Chosen One”, he performed at clubs all around Detroit, and before he released his second project, A Beautiful Mind, he was being heralded as one of the local artists on the come-up. A few years and three more mixtapes later and JP ONE was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Artist and his project, Gifted & Talented, was nominated for Best Hip-Hop Album at the Detroit Underground Hip-Hop Awards, where JP ONE was also one of four performers. JP ONE recently released the first installment of the Fire & Brimstone trilogy on March 9th, which featured the hit single, “City Under Siege”, featuring fellow Detroit lyricist, and recent signee to Nas’s, Mass Appeal Records, Boldy James. The second installment was released July 27th and features Elzhi, Gulity Simpson, and Black Milk, who also produced a track for the project. The future has never looked brighter for this rising star.

Artist Spotlight - Tony Moreaux Oct 25, 2015
    Show notes

On the outskirts of Boston, Massachusetts, coming from the east side of a small city going by the name of Lynn, born on February 20th, 1991 is Tony Moreaux. A fair amount of culture runs through Tony's blood especially with him being part French Canadian and part African American. Tony comes off as a lyrical cat with a twist of generation Y with his catchy and infectious hooks. Tony is also a producer who has not only produced for himself, but worked with a variety of artists from his city. Aggressive bars, witty punchlines and always real is what makes Tony such a special artist. He is speaking about things that appeal to a wider audience but most of all things people can relate to.
Tony can go from putting together a gritty boom bap track to switching flows on an ignorant trap record and always holding his own on any featured slot that is thrown his way. As an artist, Tony is giving you his take on life from the "regular guy" perspective without being "regular" or typical. His creativity allows him to keep his product as raw and fresh as ever. Just like anyone else, the man has a story and he gives you just that without any fabrication.
