'I May Destroy You' and a Sort-of 'Search Party'-related game! Jun 17, 2020

Show notes

Hello! A note: this week's main topic is the new Michaela Cole HBO series 'I May Destroy You' (3:32), which deals (in part) with sexual assault. Understandably, this might be a sensitive topic for some listeners, so if you'd like to skip ahead, we get into some much lighter nonsense at (21:28), before playing a vaguely 'Search Party'-related game (49:39). Our theme song is by Juan Gutierrez!

Random Shows, Fall Lineups Revisited, and An Announcement! Jun 10, 2020

Show notes

If you're looking for new television to watch, I'm not going to lie, it's kind of odd out there right now. Which is why we ended up discussing a bunch of random shows! This week: Dustin dives into the final season of '13 Reasons Why' (11:38), we talk 'Top Chef' (26:36), Tori and Dustin try to explain 'Dark' (48:30), and we revisit the fall TV lineups we put together in our very first episode. Also, we have a sponsor! Kind of. Or at least, something we wanted to plug. They eventually send the money later, right? Our theme song is by Juan Gutierrez!

'Love Life', 'Space Force', and Television Portrayals of the Police Jun 03, 2020

Show notes

On this week's show: - HBO Max and the launch of 'Love Life' (5:07) - 'Space Force' on Netflix, which leads us down a number of other rabbit holes (18:23) - What should TV shows do about their often flattering, flattening portrayals of police (54:56)? - A game that may or may not be related to Anna Kendrick (1:33:31)! I'll be clever next week. Our theme song is by Juan Gutierrez!

'Snowpiercer' and 'Run': It's Accidental Train Week! May 27, 2020

Show notes

It's Accidental Train Week on Podjiba! Meaning that the show accidentally is about shows set on trains, not that something accidentally became a train. You get it. If you want to hear our thoughts/vaguely confusing explanations of the season finale of 'Run', you're in luck (7:08)! After that, we give our initial impressions of the first two episodes of 'Snowpiercer' (25:35) and play a game developed by Dustin (59:24)! All that and this week we kept the episode under two hours, which we're now counting as a win. Our theme song is by Juan Gutierrez!

'Survivor' Season Finale with Producer Seth! May 20, 2020

Show notes

Hello! In this second part of our second two-part episode, we discuss all things 'Survivor', including our thoughts on the season finale, who was the greatest player ever, and if we were in the final four together, how would the game shake out! Our theme song is by Juan Gutierrez (and possibly the only part of the podcast we all agree on, other than none of us watching Tiger King)!

TV Homework Reports (With Producer Seth!) May 20, 2020

Show notes

Hello! It's another week, and another two-part episode, because somehow it felt easier than giving you one two hour podcast. In this episode, our homework episodes from last week ('Fargo' for Dan, 'Friday Night Lights' for Tori, and 'Buffy' for Dustin) lead our discussion for the week (10:06) before we play Untitled Game 250 (34:40). We were also joined by a special guest, Producer Seth, who finally figured out how to unmute his microphone. Our theme song is by Juan Gutierrez (and possibly the only part of the podcast we all agree on, other than none of us watching Tiger King)!

Shows We Haven't Seen: A Shame Game Special! May 13, 2020

Show notes

In the second half of our two-part episode, it's this week's game, which involved everyone revealing some of the biggest, buzziest shows we, for whatever reason, have never seen! The answers may shock you (or maybe not, I don't know your life)! Our theme song is by Juan Gutierrez (and possibly the only part of the podcast we all agree on, other than none of us watching Tiger King)!

'Run', 'Killing Eve', 'Penny Dreadful: City of Angels', and More! May 13, 2020

Show notes

We're back with an episode so long, we split it into two parts! In this episode, we work through a bunch of different topics, including a detour through what Fall TV will look like (2:22), talking about the latest on 'Run' (23:31), 'Killing Eve' (39:34), and some other asides about streaming television (45:17) and our new TV stars on Youtube world (59:17) before ending with another look at 'Penny Dreadful' (1:06:48)! Our theme song is by Juan Gutierrez (and possibly the only part of the podcast we all agree on, other than none of us watching Tiger King)!

'Westworld' Season Three Finale, 'Defending Jacob', and Technical Times! May 06, 2020

Show notes

So, this week, we ran into some technical times, which means some of the segments we had planned did not record properly! Despite this, we still managed to salvage some of this week's discussion, including a discussion of the new Apple TV+ show 'Defending Jacob', and most of our discussion of the 'Westworld' finale (5:45). We'll be back next week with a (hopefully) better show! Our theme song is by Juan Gutierrez (and possibly the only part of the podcast we all agree on, other than none of us watching Tiger King)!

'Penny Dreadful: City of Angels', 'Deadwater Fell', 'Westworld', and More! Apr 29, 2020

Show notes

After this week's fairly lengthy preamble, we finally get down to television business by asking the question: what show are you using as comfort TV (11:40)? Then, we get down to the weekly shenanigans, as we talk 'Penny Dreadful: City of Angels' (23:38), 'Deadwater Fell' (32:53), 'Superstore' (54;31), and 'Westworld' (1:01:12), before finally playing a game (1:20:07)! As always, we hope you enjoy the show! Our theme song is by Juan Gutierrez (and possibly the only part of the podcast we all agree on, other than none of us watching Tiger King)!
