    340. Elyssa Vulpes, Italy, Scotland, and New Zealand, The Music Follows! Jul 08, 2022
    Show notes

    DE 340

Elyssa Vulpes is a globe-trotting multi-instrumentalist indie folk musician with over a dozen albums under her belt. Having cured her anxieties (including stage fright) through a combination of her day job as a mindset, performance and artist coach and writing and performing music, Elyssa hopes to inspire others to release their "scorpion energy" – confronting their fears and regularly shedding skins.

Her music is meditative yet motivational, with not only a classic singer-songwriter style but elements of Neo-folk, Indie-rock and Americana.

Born in Italy, now based in Scotland and New Zealand her music revolves around themes of life's suffering, hope and transformation.

Soaking up the cultural elements of these disparate places, from the Celtic Folk Traditions of Ireland and Scotland to the celebrated Italian singer-songwriters of the 1970s, her music showcases a variety of musical hues that go from sombre to comedic. Influences include Amanda Palmer, Neko Case and Martha Wainwright.

So strap up your seatbelts and let's take a ride to New Zealand on this episode of the dHarmic Evolution podcast.

    338. Laura Cheadle Breaks "The Lust in Between" Jun 10, 2022
    Show notes

If you're longing for some real music that you can feel in your heart, lyrics that speak to your soul, and a live performance with the power to blow the roof off the building, you can stop right here. If you're tired of all the staged choreography, blinding light shows, capes, costumes, lip-synching and auto-tunes that seem to have taken over live performances, you have found a place to rest, refresh, and renew. Welcome to the world of Laura Cheadle.

Along with her Family Band, she has opened for some of the biggest names in the business and won numerous awards, including "Best Indie Jazz/Blues Band" at WXPN sponsored Tri-State Indie Music Awards. She has performed on stages from NYC to London, appeared on 6ABC's "Tuned In" as the very first viewer's choice, the "NBC 10" Show, and the National reality show "Next Great Family Band." Laura was recently featured in Curve Magazine, named one of "100 Women We Love" in Go Magazine, and declared a "Super Woman" in South Jersey Magazine for her active Charity Work.

As Traveler Guitar's newest Brand Ambassador and a recent distribution deal with Sony Orchard, her solo career is starting to explode, performing a set at NAMM2020, filming specialized performance and educational video segments for Next Level Guitar's site, and having recently been honored with the Musician of the Decade award for her body of work and trend-setting style. One of her original compositions was recently included in a popular TV show, and she participated in a Philadelphia Film project with a seamlessly acted feature role in the short film "Ether."

Gifted with a voice powerful enough to shake rafters, and tender enough to navigate the entire range of the emotional scale, Laura Cheadle is a singer commanding more than just a listen or a look. Her albums, like her concerts, are an experience. Inseparable from the truth of the songs she writes, the raw emotion that tears out of her reaches deep into your heart with the kind of performance her audiences remember long after the last notes have been played.

So without further ado, strap your seatbelts as we take a ride to Philadelphia on this episode of the dHarmic evolution podcast.

    335. The dHarmic Rising Stars Spotify Playlists, Is Your Music Here? Apr 29, 2022
    Show notes

Today on the show, still doing something different, I talked about technology, what's happening and how to protect yourself. Also, I discussed how to leverage your podcast after a show and finally shared the story behind the dHarmic rising star Spotify playlists. And just as a teaser, we will be having guests from all over the world very soon. So, strap up your seatbelt and enjoy this wonderful episode on the dHarmic Evolution podcast.

    As a preview:

On technology, I switched to the Brave browser, an ad-blocking privacy browser that helps keep my browsing info private. Whenever I'm doing something sensitive, especially relating to my financial accounts, I use Brave. Another cool perk is you get paid for the viewing ads of your choice!

Regarding podcasts, I wanted to drop some growth hacks. When you are invited to a show, leverage that opportunity as an infomercial. Don't just shut off your microphone and move on, take some steps to promote. Share it across your socials and even follow up just to get feedback and continue to build on a blossoming relationship.

Lastly, the dHarmic rising stars Spotify playlist is a Spotify playlist of 30 songs each that I created and named after certain star constellations. A very eclectic bunch of great songs from various genres are available on these playlists! Also, as a guest on the podcast, you get to put one of your songs on the playlist for free.

    Listen and enjoy

    Quotes:

"I worry that we are getting too complacent on letting our private information run rampant on the Internet"

"Keep your software updated and turn your phone off at least once a day"

"After your show is done, think of ways of how to keep it alive"

"Having your infomercial is very powerful, you took the time to do this, you showed up, you invested the energy and did the right things; don't let it die"

"There are always things right in front of us that we tend to overlook"

"I've been doing this for a long time, and I am very comfortable in trying to make people comfortable on the show"

"You're tired of your own music at times. Where do you go for inspiration? Other artists, of course!"

    333. Credenda, Family Vocal Harmony Trio Shares Their Lovely Music For The Soul Apr 01, 2022
    Show notes

Credenda is our musical guest today, they are a family band. I've only had a few of them on the show but I really enjoy this probably more than any other type of interview because of the family dynamics and interaction. I just love getting involved with that, and I'm sure you're going to love being part of this great conversation too. So strap up your seatbelts and let's take a ride to Nashville, Tennessee to visit the family vocal harmony trio, Credenda!

Before we get into the show, I just want to remind you that my coaching program is open for you folks out there in need of coaching in these categories: Relationship coaching, Spiritual coaching, Life coaching, and of course, Podcast coaching.

So for all my dHarmic Evolution fans and supporters who are looking for life-changing results in any of these areas, please email me at james@dharmicevolution.com I'll set up a 30-minute NO COST, NO OBLIGATION Zoom call for you and I to vet this out and see if we are a good fit together, because this is one-on-one coaching. It's not group coaching. Therefore, I can only handle a limited number of people and I hope it's you! Again, there will be limited spaces available as this is "one-on-one", so reach out ASAP to reserve a spot!

Back to Credenda! Music for the soul, that's what they are! They are a family vocal harmony trio consisting of mom, (Barbara), brother (Daniel), and sister (Anna). Their signature sound, which can be best described as Americana with the heart of Gospel, and it is marked by blood harmony, unique songwriting, and soaring melodies. With a retro yet modern sound, they pay tribute to the bands of the past and present while at the same time bringing a wholly unique and original sound that will bring peace to the listener. They also bring an approach to classic songs that is all their own! You will feel like part of the family as you join them for a time of stories and music!

Barbara, Daniel, and Anna shared great stories and experiences, and you will love their sense of humor and most especially the music that we featured here today. It will absolutely be an enjoyable hour, so let us all give Credenda a warm dHarmic Evolution welcome!

    More about Credenda

dHarmic Evolution has been a place for indie music and a lot of up and coming artists are here all the time, so let's show our support for Credenda and their music through different platforms. You can go check out their website, social media pages and music platforms and follow them through these. All the links are provided below!

    Quotes:

    05:51

"I was just a mom. I actually was into classical music. I'm one of these prodigy kids that my parents had in lessons from a very young age, and I gave it up in my late teens, and went into a nursing program instead of following through on my music. And so when we had tons of kids, and they all started showing that they were very musical. I just heard of them all together. We did music together, I would write a bit and they'd sing it and, and it just evolved, but the sound just produces itself, I think." - Barbara

    12:30

"And we go on this sort of little family, with sweet, angelic harmonies. And it was kind of interesting, it didn't matter how drunk people were, everybody just stopped doing anything, and they didn't turn around from the bar. And watch, and listen. So we knew that what we were delivering was having an impact in some way. And somebody told us later that the harmonies bring peace to them. I think there's something about harmony when musicians put harmony together." - Barbara

    22:41

"I wasn't this kid, this millennial that would be glued to my phone growing up. I loved books and literature and the influence of parents that they brought into the house, but the music and just family culture was important to me." - Anna

    26:47

"I'll kind of build everything around that melody, and the lyrics just kind of incidentally, fall into it. And mom was the original lyricist, but she kind of gave me the self belief that I could start contributing to that department. So I've been doing a lot more recently." - Daniel

    42:16

"If I had to go with a word for our recording process, it's casual. We're not like, "I want to do that again, do it again." People are really doing vocal bits over and over until it's just perfect. A lot of our best work is done like "One Take Jake" style, if we can." - Credenda

    50:42

"When people ask us, "What do you like to do besides music?" And then I always had this saying that musicians don't have a social life in general. We sort of make time to do things in periods throughout the day." - Daniel

    53:40

"My inspiration to any up and coming songwriter that's just hit Nashville or is just trying to make it in music in general, is keep at it. Be patient with yourself, your growth. Always have a circle of friends around you, even if it's just one or two people that kind of anchor you, and have conviction. Don't go for a deal just when it's offered to you, because sometimes it's not the right decision to make. So be patient. Be patient. Just keep at it. It will happen." - Credenda

That's the band I was in when Dale and I met and then now I just love being able to write with Dale, have our own stuff and not have to sing anybody else's stuff." -Lisa

    41:01

"I'm always practicing. I do my TrueFire, I do some of their courses. I'm always trying to learn something new. I love it." - Dale

    51:49

"My advice to anybody who wants to do music is to just play and enjoy it. Because even if nobody likes what you're doing, but you like what you're doing, I think you should just play and enjoy the music. Because as we talked earlier, there's so much ego in this business. And as long as you love what you're doing, you believe in what you're doing, I say just play, it doesn't matter if anybody likes it as long as you like it. And if you inspire just one person to play, I mean, it makes it all worth it. So that's me." - Dale

    52:26

"Don't doubt yourself, second guess yourself. Everybody has their own thing. God gave us all different talents and different gifts. So use yours. Don't compare that to anybody else there." - Lisa

    331. Zack Linton From Perth Australia, The West Side, That Is Rich With Talented Musical Artists Mar 04, 2022
    Show notes

Zack Linton from way down under is our musical guest today. We haven't been to Australia in such a long time, and I think we are long overdue. So strap up your seatbelts because we're going to take a ride and visit a musician, guitarist and singer-songwriter from Perth, Australia on the west side of the continent. Let's give Zack Linton a warm dHarmic Evolution welcome!

Before we get into the show, I want to let you know that I am opening up a coaching opportunity for my dHarmic Evolution fans and supporters, in the following coaching categories:

Relationship coaching, Spiritual coaching, Life coaching, and of course Podcast coaching. This offer is for one on one coaching with me personally and not a group coaching offer. If you are looking for results in any of these areas, please email james@dharmicevolution.com I will choose from a select group and offer a 30 minute zoom call to discuss your goals and see if we are a good fit to work together. There will be limited spaces available as I this is "one on one", so reach out asap to reserve a spot!

    Now let's get to Zack!

Nestled in soul, and combining a youthful love for Hard Rock and Blues, Zack Linton is a guitarist, singer-songwriter and producer from Perth Western Australia. His lust for the fretboard is only complemented by a strong passion for songwriting, music production and creating sounds that not only have a reminiscent feel and influence, but its own identity.

What's not to love about an awesome guitar player who writes great songs? Let's dig in and get to know more about Zack and his music! We got into some really cool discussions about songwriting, creating sounds, production, gear, guitars, amplifiers, of course, we also talked about the massive continent of Australia and maybe Bitcoin mining?? Check it all out here on this episode of the dHarmic Evolution!

    Quotes:

    25:50

"I just love guitars. It's definitely a big passion, it's not just playing guitar, playing different ones and buying them when I've saved some money."

    35:52

"My goals are to....... I think I've found my sound now that I'm wanting to do and it's kind of writing more based around that – so I want to produce more, produce my own stuff more."

    36:52

"It's big on obviously independent artists now, and you need to get your music out there but you don't really need a record label behind you anymore. So I mean, you can push your own music and it'd be nice to be obviously backed by hundreds of thousands of dollars by a record company, because that's what's going to ultimately get you putting the picture out there. But these days, being able to produce your music and put it out I think is a massive, massive thing. And that's why you've got so many independent artists now and they can actually do that."

    38:55

"A big thing for me was actually recording, getting into recording. I think through doing that you find your sound, you find what you're all about, and you find what you want to make. That's what did it for me."
