Drama in the desert with Arizona losing its AD plus a booster makes it personal with Jedd Fisch Jan 25, 2024

Show notes

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are in studio talking about some of the crazy drama in the desert around the University of Arizona. When Kalen DeBoer left Washington for Alabama, it opened up an opportunity for Jedd Fisch to head to Seattle, leaving the Wildcats high and dry. That really pissed off Arizona booster Humberto Lopez, who felt he had a deal in place for Fisch to stay in Tucson. He then went out of his way to throw NIL money at Wildcat players just so Fisch couldn't take them to Washington, including star quarterback Noah Fifita and receiver Tetairoa McMillan.

Arizona also fired it's athletic director and according to Brett McMurphy, Dave Heeke was fired for "financial & operational mismanagement, resulting in an athletic department financial 'disaster,' loss of major donors & mishandling of former coach Jedd Fisch's contract."

As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat.

Washington Huskies fall in the national championship game to the Michigan Wolverines Jan 10, 2024

Show notes

In this episode of the Podcast of Champions hosts Ryan Abraham and David Woods are in studio to breakdown the final Pac-12 college football game ever, Washington's 34-13 loss at the hands of Michigan in the national championship game. The Huskies had an opportunity to win their first national championship since 1991, but the Wolverines run game and defensive front were too much for Kalen DeBoer's squad that finishes the season an impressive 14-1 in only his second year at the helm.

The guys breakdown what they saw from Monday night's game where UW was unable to generate the explosive plays that propelled them past Texas and into this title bout.

As usual Ryan and Dave end the podcast answering listener emails and questions from the YouTube chat.

Next up No. 14 Arizona had a monster matchup with No. 12 Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl, one of the best games outside of the NY6 games. The Wildcats ran out to a 13-0 lead before the Sooners rattled off 28-straight. Arizona was able to capitalize on OU turnovers and finished strong for the 38-24 victory.

Finally, No. 19 Oregon State faced No. 16 Notre Dame in the Sun Bowl on Friday morning in El Paso. Both teams suffered major roster opt-outs, but the Beavers were far more depleted including the majority of their coaching staff. This one wasn't much of a contest with ND cruising to a 40-8 victory.
