    Show notes

From flat-out lies to false reviews, social media scammers to unqualified doctors, “plastic surgeons” use a number of tricks just to make a buck. If an operation is conducted within the four walls of a private practice and by anyone with a medical license, patients are a lot less protected than they think they are. Regular doctors are getting into the industry because it’s more lucrative and without any regulating bodies, patients aren’t even aware that they’ve entered the Wild West of Medicine. Join Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Rady Rahban and cohost Monique Marvez as they interview a patient who fell right into these traps. Dr. Rady hopes to open your eyes and prepare you for one of the most important decisions you will make regarding your body.

S1E25: Social Media and Unrealistic Expectations Nov 06, 2019
    Show notes

Bikini shots of insta models and celebs on vacation seem to be a daily reminder in our newsfeeds of what we should look like. On a positive note, social media can allow potential patients to see what’s available and have access to real results, but on the opposite side of the coin, it can set an unrealistic standard. Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Rahban has found that sense of self is entirely based on comparison and the dial of what is “the norm”. Unsurprisingly, with filters and editing, this dial has been drastically shifted and self-image has never been more skewed in history. Join Dr. Rady Rahban and Monique Marvez as they dive into social media and plastic surgery and how this digital age has managed to change the perception of what “normal” is.
