    In today's episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast we talk to Howard Jacobson, PhD all about Staying Motivated In Tough Times. It seems that people are finding it harder to stay motivated to live healthy, stay happy and balance life. Howie talks about connecting motivation to transformation. Wanting to be healthy isn't enough of a motivator for most people to actually reach their goals and and sustain them. We explore different options for higher level motivations, how they work, what they look like in practice, and how we can connect with them and use them.     In today's episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast we bring back one of our classics that put us on the plant-based podcasting map: Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease with Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn. It was an extreme honour. Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn is known for being one of the founding fathers of the plant-based lifestyle and is the author of the book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. We covered a lot of the questions and uncertainties out there. We hope this conversation will help you or someone you care about cross that line from uncertainty to taking action. To be able to prevent and reverse heart disease and many other chronic illnesses just like Adam did. Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn is widely recognized for his role in the documentary film, Forks Over Knives. Twenty-three years ago, while chairman of the Cleveland Clinic's Breast Cancer Task Force, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn wanted his peers to do more in the way of preventing heart disease as he found the research on plant-based diets to be extremely strong. He and his family adopted a plant-based lifestyle and he is responsible for so many others following suit with tremendous results. He and he is his wife, Ann, are full of energy and spirit. He holds a BA in Philosophy from UCLA, is a public speaker, podcaster (What Sid Thinks Podcast), certified nutritionist & running coach, Oxygen Advantage breathing instructor, and founder of smallsteppers.com. He is the Stanford Inn & Resort's Wellness Programs Director and Race Director of the Mendocino Coast 50K trail ultramarathon. Dr. Garth Davis Dr. Garth Davis, MD is now a surgeon at the Houston Methodist Department of Surgery. He started his career in Houston, Texas where he established The Davis Clinic and was an assistant professor of surgery at The University of Texas-Houston. This special Dr is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is also boarded in medical management of obesity. Dr. Davis is the author of two books: Proteinaholic: How Our Obsession with Meat Is Killing Us and The Expert's Guide to Weight-Loss Surgery. In addition, he starred on a tv show called Big Medicine. Having spent 20 years in the field of surgical and medical weight management, Dr. Davis is a recognized expert in both surgical and medical management of obesity. He believes strongly in the comprehensive management of patients struggling with obesity. If anything is clear today, it is that there is simply no more time for the things that don't fill your cup. Understanding your basic needs and real values is a must in life. Showing up for yourself to be who you are meant to be for others is key. We will take you through some tried and tested exercises and share a little bit about what we love to do and what we are leaving behind. For those of you who are new here, I'm Shoshana Chaim, I am a health expert, redox educator, author, speaker and 8 year running host of this podcast. Right now I'm a leader in the redox education field, teaching other health practitioners and individuals how to address healing in the body, beyond nutrition, deep within the cell and mitochondria. We teach the body to communicate and heal on its own. Daniel is a force to be reckoned with on the course and in life. When he sets his mind to something, he does it. Daniel Puth is 40 years old and immigrated from Germany to Toronto, Canada 8 years ago. After sustaining injuries from soccer, he moved to running and found a new passion for running and endurance sport. He developed a huge interest in fitness and a healthy lifestyle through diet and activities. He started Vegan Running just before his first successful vegan marathon to build, assist and expand the vegan running community as well as exchange experiences. His passion is to run mid and long distances and perform them being plant based. It will be his honor to wear a vegan running singlet in the 2024 Boston Marathon with the long goal to run a new personal best at the age of 42.
