Quick turnaround for the Trojans heading into the Northwestern game Friday night Nov 05, 2025
    Show notes

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio following USC's successful road trip to Nebraska and the quick turnaround with a Friday night showdown against Northwestern. The Trojans couldn't get the passing game going in Lincoln, but the run game and the defense kept the game within reach before Jayden Maiava could get things rolling with his legs. The 21-17 comeback victory was an important result, keeping the Trojans alive in the race for the College Football Playoffs heading into the final stretch of the season.

Anna Watson from The Daily Northwestern joins the show to give her thoughts on this Wildcat squad and what challenges they can give the Trojans on Friday night.

The crew gives their thoughts on how the team performed against Nebraska, surviving the crazy blackout environment and securing a win despite not playing a clean game. They also take a look at Friday night's potential trap game against Northwestern with the Wildcats coming off a bye and looking to become bowl eligible.

Helium Boys Podcast: USC gets it done in Nebraska win, Friday night date with Northwestern and secret movies Nov 04, 2025
    Show notes

Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino are backbehind the microphones for another edition of the Helium Boys Podcast to discuss USC's big 21-17 road win over Nebraska and the upcoming Northwestern game.

Chris spends his 'Two-Minute Drill' discussing his interactions with USC fans in person after a long week with his lay off news. Shotgun takes the time to note the hospitality at Memorial Stadium with Husker fans, all the good and one sour interaction.

The Helium Boys then dive into Stock Up, Stock Down from the road win, which includes Jayden Maiava's legs, Desman Stephens, Marcelles Williams, winning ugly and much more. The second half of the show revolves around the upcoming Friday matchup with Northwestern (5-3, 3-2), which is coming off a bye week.

The Trojans will take their Friday night conference date against visiting Northwestern, their first meeting since the Rose Bowl in 1995. This is the first time these two teams have met in the Coliseum since 1969. USC is the second ranked opponent Northwestern has faced this season (then No. 4 Oregon) and first on the road.

The Helium Boys takes some quick questions before telling each other some movie secrets.

Coach Harvey Hyde sees USC's identity as running team that has the potential to win out Nov 03, 2025
    Show notes

On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together talking about the Trojans notching an important road win in Lincoln, taking down Nebraska 21-17. Winning ugly isn't the goal, but it is much better than the alternative of losing, and with the long travel and hyped up crowd in an impressive "blackout," it was an important victory for Lincoln Riley and his squad.

Coach Hyde talked about how necessary this win was for USC, going against a traditional power, a Big Ten foe that was looking for revenge after losing in the Coliseum last year, and a fan base that looked at the game as the biggest event in the state. The Cornhuskers were all in and in year's past, the Trojans likely don't win this game but Saturday night, despite not playing particularly well, USC pulled off the win.

With another impressive performance by running back King Miller, Coach Hyde feels this team's identity is the run game, helped by a constantly shifting offensive line and some great tight end play. The Trojans can run the ball and that was essentially the only offensive aspect that was working Saturday night in Lincoln.

Defensively Coach Hyde feels they played better, with full knowledge that Nebraska was limited offensively especially in the second half when Dylan Raiola was knocked out of the game.

Coach Harvey Hyde has been part of the Peristyle Podcast since 2008 and in the USC football world he is an expert on X's and O's, personnel, coaching philosophies and recruiting.

Tunnel Vision: Trojans overcome road woes with 21-17 win at Nebraska behind King Miller's 129 yards Nov 03, 2025
    Show notes

On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern Riley Sager are back in studio recapping Saturday night's USC's 21-17 comeback "Blackout" victory over Nebraska in Lincoln. It was not the cleanest game for Lincoln Riley and the Trojans, but it was an important result that was desperately needed. Now at 6-2 and 4-1 in Big Ten play, No. 20 USC's hopes of reaching the College Football Playoffs are still alive with three home games and one road trip to Eugene left on the schedule.

The crew gives their thoughts on some of the key storylines from the game, including an amazing performance by walk-on running back King Miller. Making just his second start, Miller ran for 129 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts and was the main weapon for the Trojans offense with Jayden Maiava having an off night.

The defense stepped up and made plays after Nebraska's opening drive touchdown, forcing a sack/fumble that knocked Dylan Raiola out of the game and coming up big in the second half, only allowing a single field goal to the Huskers.

Kicker Ryon Sayeri was also one of the stars of the evening, hitting both of his field goals including one that was just shy of 50 yards. The steady redshirt freshman from Chaminade High School has converted on 14 of his 15 field goal attempts and has been an absolute weapon for USC this season

That was the Trojans second Big Ten plane ride road trip victory of the season and Riley and company have a quick turnaround, facing the 5-3 (3-2 B1G) Northwestern Wildcats Friday night in the Coliseum coming off of their bye week.

This is the podcast version of our Tunnel Vision video show.

Tunnel Vision: Previewing USC's important road trip to Nebraska Oct 31, 2025
    Show notes

On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio previewing what is turning out to be an extremely important game for the Trojans following the loss at Notre Dame, a trip to Lincoln to take on Nebraska. The 6-2 Cornhuskers have revenge on their minds after falling to the Trojans in the Coliseum last season in what was Jayden Maiava's first start in Cardinal and Gold.

For Lincoln Riley squad, this contest against Nebraska could be a turning point in the season, either by fixing the road woes and finishing strong or falling to the Huskers and once again looking for answers after losing a winnable game.

Helium Boys Podcast: USC seeking marquee win in Nebraska, Trojan pass rush and Patrick Mahomes cosplay Oct 28, 2025
    Show notes

Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return off the second bye week to form the Helium Boys Podcast in anticipation of No. 23 USC's big road game against Nebraska where a sold out crowd is expected for the "Blackout" game.

It's no surprise that both hosts spend their 'Two-Minute Drill' talking about the trip to Nebraska. Shotgun shares his vehicle drama on his last trip to the state while Chris opines on this being his No. 1 road trip of the 2025 season.

There is no Stock Up, Stock Down without a game this past weekend so the podcast jumps right into a quick preview for the Cornhuskers, looking at their run defense, quarterback Dylan Raiola and much more.

The Helium Boys wrap up with a limited number of questions as well as some Take It or Leave It, which includes freshman quarterback Husan Longstreet, USC's All-Big Ten future selections and new potential starters out of the bye. Shotgun takes on a whole slew of topics in the Overtime period from Kool-Aid, Rainforest Cafe and TV dinners.

This will be just the seventh time these two programs have met all-time with the Trojans undefeated at five wins and a tie. This will be the first meeting in Lincoln since 2007.
