PAWCast Episode Seventeen: Growth Focused Performance Management Nov 08, 2019
    Show notes

If you have even the idea of performance reviews, are you doing them properly?

In this weeks episode, we discuss the substantial efforts included in growth focused performance management and how that process allows us to improve performance and efficiency with staff across the clinic. This focus on the individual allows our team members to be autonomous in their performance growth plans and to only worry about daily improvement, not their place as it compares to the rest of the team.

In this episode, we review the concepts included in growth focused performance management as well as the performance vs. potential grid and how to use the tool effectively.

PAWCast Episode Sixteen: Teamcrafting Nov 01, 2019
    Show notes

If you could build a dynamic team, focused on enhancing individual strengths and heading off conflict before it ever happens, wouldn't you do it?

In this weeks episode, we discuss the deliberate "Teamcrafting" that we do using psychometric data, and how that information allows us to hire, onboard, manage and grow individuals, regardless of behavioral patterns and motivations. This focus on the individual allows our team members to be autonomous in their critical roles and tasks as the management team, as they have already been positioned for success based on their individual traits.

In this episode, we review all the parts of the Tri-core Assessment and how we use those variables in 'Teamcrafting' to maximize on our strengths, and isolate our weaknesses.

When you have a chance to record the PAWCast at the next home of the PAWCast before it's constructed, you take advantage of it.

This week's episode is a bit more informal, recapping a lot of what we have covered in the last few episodes, and covering how those critical pieces have worked for us to serve the patient, and push our physical capacity to the brink and require us to break ground on a new facility.

Also, Dr. Katie joins us this week!

PAWCast Episode Thirteen: The Forgiveness Model Oct 05, 2019
    Show notes

One thing that we have found to be most lacking when hiring and managing staff is an ability to forgive their coworkers. This skill set has been waning for a long time, and the lack of these deliberate conversations can be a major contributor to drama and a lack of team performance.

The forgiveness model boils down how to have the conversation between two people to either exonerate one another or release the anger and part ways. This model allows us to have emotional and rational conversation to express how we feel, but also come to a mutually agreed upon solution, and shift our sights forward.

In this episode, we review all the parts of the Forgiveness Model and how they can have a great impact in your clinic or business.

PAWCast Episode Twelve: The After Action Report Sep 27, 2019
    Show notes

Having specific processes to eliminate drama, obtain objectivity and solve problems has been one of the most critical pieces implemented at PAW in recent memory. This deliberate structure has taught us as well as all of our staff how to have reasonable, rational and professional conversations, and to avoid the interpersonal conflict that comes with drama.

In this episode, we review all the parts of the After Action Report and how they can have a great impact in your clinic or business.

PAWCast Episode Eleven: How to be Accountable to the Patient Sep 20, 2019
    Show notes

Accountability can be difficult person to person. It becomes even more difficult when we need to be accountable to an animal patient.

That means that we need specific processes to hold ourselves accountable to the results that occur in clinic both on a medical basis, but also in the effective implementation of processes. Insert our Case Review process, the topic of discussion on this week's PAWCast.

The Case Review is how we work with our staff on individual advancement in the event that issues arise. Rooted in forgiveness, we work hand in hand with our team members to make sure that problems are addressed and treated as learning opportunities, not just opportunities to reprimand.

PAWCast Episode Ten: Effective Accountability Sep 12, 2019
    Show notes

One of the most difficult things about developing a great culture is the maintenance of accountability. If you leave this up to arbitrary processes you will notice over time that the accountability within your staff decrease and ultimately disappear. This leads to high levels of drama, excuses, blaming and unproductive conflict.

So, we have implemented accountability processes that are planned, deliberate and highly effective to get in front of our issues and grow as a team. The case review, after action report and forgiveness model are all exceptionally useful tools that you can plug directly into your clinic.

This PAWCast previews those three pieces, with the next three episodes diving into deeper detail on each, so stay tuned!!!
