Will Trump Get Arrested? Mar 20, 2023

With word from former President Donald Trump that he will "be arrested" on a criminal indictment engineered by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg over alleged hush money payments made during the 2016 campaign. But that’s about all that has come to light, as the relevant authorities are being quite closemouthed about this whole thing. Insider says that “a source with knowledge of the investigation” told them on Saturday night “there is one more witness.” The indictment is apparently not a certainty until this witness testifies.

A state court’s aggressive reinterpretation of a more-than-century-old law puts businesses on the hook for potentially billions of dollars in unexpected costs.

New York law has long carved out an exception: “A manual worker shall be paid weekly.”

The weekly pay provision goes back to 1890, when the Legislature held that “every manufacturing, mining or quarrying, lumbering, mercantile … corporation … shall pay weekly.” The court found that employees could recoup as “damages” a dollar value equal to 100% of the wages paid late.

President Biden tweeted a handwritten letter he allegedly received from a little girl asking him to "fix" the gender wage gap Tuesday. The internet scorched him for it, with many suggesting it was fake.

A Kentucky middle school principal was arrested Monday, his first day on the job, He was served an arrest warrant at the school for fourth-degree assault and third-degree terroristic threatening.

And now things are spicing up even more after The Treasury Department has agreed to let House Oversight Committee members review suspicious activity reports pertaining to President Biden’s family, The records submitted by banks to the US government may contain new bombshells on the first family’s murky foreign income and the millions reaped by first son Hunter Biden and first brother James Biden in countries where their powerful relative held sway.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell on Tuesday cleared the way for larger interest rate hikes at this month’s central bank policy meeting, sending markets into a tailspin.

In his remarks to the Senate Committee on Banking, Powell said that economically painful interest rate hikes are “likely to be higher than previously anticipated,” and that as a result, the labor market is also “very likely” to weaken.

Chicago Mayor Lightfoot becomes the first Chicago mayor to lose a bid for reelection in 40 years, when former mayor Jane Byrne was ousted in 1983. Lightfoot’s loss sets up former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas (D) and Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson (D) for a head to head faceoff in the runoff election on April 4.
