Crime in Music 68: I'm 50 Cent and I Got Businesses, Beef and Bullet Holes!!! Jun 22, 2021
    Show notes

Born on the mean streets and raised by his mother, a local drug queen. After his mother was killed by rival drug lords, he started selling drugs in middle school. He told his grandma he was in after school programs, but in actuality he was slinging dope and carrying a starter pistol. The jig is up when he gets caught carrying his gun to school by the metal detectors at the entrance. From this point on, he straight up told his grandma that he sells drugs and carries a gun, in school. He drops out of school early, mainly due to racking in over $10K in monthly drug profits.

Like most budding artists, he starts out by performing in a friends basement and fell in love with the art form. After playing at parties and producing several mix tapes, he gets signed to a record label. From here, it's off to the races. He rubs elbows with Eminem, Dr. Dre and many of the most popular artist of the day.

He owns every business under the sun; books, music, beverages, mines, Boxing Promotion, apparel, shoes, video games, luxury underwear, a vodka company & so many more. Pull on your best bullet-proof vest, gather up some lawyers and listen to the the Finical Flummadiddle of 50 Cent.

The Age Old Question: What Is The Greatest "Greatest Hits" Album of All-Time? Jun 21, 2021
    Show notes

This week, Rich and Clint explore the greatest of the "Greatest Hits." Some artists produced exceptional albums - works of art that stand alone as complete creative expressions. Some artists created greatness that spread across their career. And for many of us, the "greatest hits" became the sampler platter that invited us to take a closer look at a band or artist, the way in to the original albums. With special guest and "Age Old Question" favorite Jeff Symonds.

Make it Stop: Season 4 Finale - Ska vs. Nu Metal Thunderdome (w/ Ethan Marsh) Jun 21, 2021
    Show notes

Alright stoppies, it's the moment you've all been waiting for - a knock down, drag out deathmatch between two deeply embarrassing teenage genres of the late 90s: Nu Metal vs. 3rd Wave Ska. Nu Metal Mike vs. Perpetual Ska Kid Heather battle it out with fan of both genres and very funny comedian Ethan Marsh reffing to make sure there's no wallet chain yanking or funny trombone stuff going on, keeping it a good clean fight. Representing Nu Metal is of course the legendary Florida miscreants Limp Bizkit who know their way around a sick riff, heavy bassline and a catchy sgriggedy scratchy DJ Lethal breakdown on 1999's Significant Other. Challengers and fellow Floridians Less than Jake take on the nu metal megastars with 1998's Hello Rockview, a stalwart of the ska-punk pantheon and catchy and fun in their own right, if a little repetitive as they make sure every song calls out how lame and boring Florida is (we agree). Which embarassing genre will reign supreme as the least worst? Find out on our EPIC SEASON 4 FINALE - Enjoy!

See Hear 86: The Sparks Brothers Jun 21, 2021
    Show notes

I Predict that When I'm With You, there will be no Existential Threat unless we're Eaten By The Monster Of Love in this Cool World.

Welcome to episode 86 of See Hear Podcast.

Edgar Wright has been known to use music to great effect in his narrative films, so it's only appropriate that he makes a music-related documentary. The Sparks Brothers tells the tale of brothers Ron and Russell Mael who as Sparks have been writing and recording albums for nearly 5 decades. Unlike so many musicians who had an initial creative flourish then lose sight of their muse, the Maels are still creating great music right up to today.

Due to a peculiar turn of events, Tim, Bernard and Maurice handed the keys to the See Hear car over to friends of the show Mike White of the Projection Booth Podcast and musician / documentarian Skizz Cyzyk. These guys are the best, and we felt completely comfortable leaving the show in their professional hands. As a bonus, Mike also presents an interview with the film's editor Paul Trewartha. It's a fascinating discussion about his involvement with the film as well as the editing process in general.

The regular crew will definitely be back next month to carry on with regular podcast shenanigans (which may be bad news if you've enjoyed the high standard brought by Mike and Skizz). You can find all things Booth-ian (except Frank) at https://www.projectionboothpodcast.com/

You can follow Skizz' activities at http://www.skizz.net/ Our huge thanks go to the gents for sailing our ship.
