    Show notes

This week Tom & Zeus review the November 13, 1980 appearance by Gene Simmons and Ace Frehley on the Australian TV program , The Don Lane Show. This surprise TV appearance was during the Unmasked tour in Australia in 1980.

This rarely scene clip is unique in that it is only Gene & Ace. They showed up surprising the host and briefly joked with him and the audience. There is a lot of subtleties and interesting things going on and Tom and Zeus breakdown and analyze the video in typical SIOL fashion.

Performance Anxiety: Dave Weiner (Steve Vai) Jul 25, 2021
    Show notes

This episode I am honored to be joined by a great guitarist as well as an all-around great guy, Dave Weiner. Dave has been Steve Vai’s rhythm guitarist for many years. He shares how he met Steve and how Steve has helped him grow by keeping him out of his comfort zones. He also tells us the most important lessons he’s learned from Steve. Dave has released three solo albums (and already remastered one of them) and is set to release another soon. It’s not easy writing and recording music when you tour with Steve Vai. So when everything was locked down last year, Dave took advantage of the time. He also talks about his website guitopia.com, how is began and what’s in store for it in the near future. Follow Dave on Instagram @daveweinerguitar, @guitopia, @visibleatnight, or @monumentshine on Twitter @daveweinermusic, @monumentshine, or @visibleatnight. Facebook is daveweinermusic. Follow us @PerformanceAnx on IG & Twitter. We do like coffee from ko-fi.com/performanceanxiety if you’re inclined to treat us to a cup. You can purch some merch at performanceanx.threadless.com. So let’s get right into the conversation with Dave Weiner on Performance Anxiety, part of the Pantheon Podcast Network.

That guitar helped him recover, and is now the center piece of his latest project, Through The Fire, Featuring Guilda. He joins us on Americana Music Profiles to talk about that story and his new CD.

The Band: A History - The Last Waltz Pt. 1 Jul 24, 2021
    Show notes

“None of us truly understood where we were headed, but we knew change was inevitable.”

The Band meant something, their music had spoken to many. Whether that meant flying from another continent, taking a train cross country, selling their worldly possessions or quitting a job, even the slightest hint that The Band could hang it up caused a reaction, a tidal wave.

And while uncertainty hung in the air for everyone involved and feelings were mixed. The Last Waltz as it was titled, was about to become a defining moment for a group of four Canadians and one American that had spent the better of sixteen years making music together.

Certainly, it was unfathomable to think November 25, 1976 was about to become one of the defining music moments of the decade, let alone popular music history. The alchemy The Band concocted that evening with seventeen of music's biggest stars will forever be etched into history.

Produced, hosted and edited by Tyrell William Lisson. Additional writing and research by Oscar Ashley.
