Shout It Out Loudcast: "KISS Kruise XI Recap Part Two" Nov 18, 2022
    Show notes

This week Tom & Zeus breakdown their remaining trip on KISS Kruise XI. The Kruise had one more stop in Ensenada, Mexico and many more shows, including the KISS indoor show.

Part two of the trip focuses on the KISS indoor show, Bruce Kulick's band, Black Label Society, Buckcherry, Stryper, Vixen, Sisters Doll, Plush, L.A. Maybe, Black Sabbitch, Richie Kotzen and more. The guys continued to see and hear some great music, the KISS Karaoke, notwithstanding.

The guys give the inside track of what really happened on KISS Kruise XI as only SIOL can. From Paul's pizza to Gene's game show antics. Rock Star meetings, tattoos, foul odors and more. The Kruise was filled with all sorts of bizarre occurrences.

So listen to the awesome conclusion to KISS Kruise XI as told by SIOL and make sure you listen all the way to end for another Klassik KISS Karaoke moment or you may get audited and will need the help of Ace Frehley Tax Accountant!

    Decibel Geek Podcast: Geekwire: Week of 11.17.22 - Ep505 Nov 18, 2022
    Show notes

We've got a new name but the same, goofy news coverage as we present Geekwire! As per usual, we're covering all the rock and metal news that you care about.

Starting things off is our announcement of Keelfest as a part of ROCKNPOD weekend in March of 2023. We go over the lineup and much more. If you haven't yet, get your tickets, VIP, podcast registration and more at www.rocknpod.com

Ex-Iron Maiden singer Paul Dianno has recently clarified a statement he made about Steve Harris. Eric Martin is hinting that new things from Mr. Big might be on the way. Steven Pearcy is planning a big release of career-spanning material. Nickelback actually gets some love in this episode (no spoilers here). Foreigner announces their farewell tour. Kurt Cobain's smashed up guitar has sold for almost a half million dollars.

Other stories discussed include Zakk Wylde learning Pantera tunes, KISS getting slammed on a Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame list, Sharon Osbourne bashing Bruce Dickinson, and Metallica paying an amazing tribute to Jonny and Marsha Zazula.

As always, Aaron brings you up to date or rock birthdays, death anniversaries, and notable upcoming releases.

It's a lot of news to digest, but we're here to bring it to ya.

We hope you enjoy Geekwire for the week of 11.17.22 and SHARE with a friend!

Rock's Backpages: Holly Gleason on women in country + Guy Clark + Taylor Swift Nov 15, 2022
    Show notes

In this episode we welcome the splendid Holly Gleason, all the way from downtown Nashville, and invite her to tell us about her life as a country music writer and publicist.
Holly explains how, as a teenage championship golfer, she first became enamoured of country in her native state of Ohio, later writing about it (as well as about rap and R&B) for the Miami Herald. Tying in the episode's main theme with Woman Walk the Line – the wonderful essay collection she assembled and edited in 2017 – Holly's hosts ask her about her favourite female artists from Emmylou Harris to Taylor Swift. Along the way she gives us the inside lowdown on "Music City" – having just attended 2022's CMA Awards – and talks fascinatingly about Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus.
The week's new audio interview, with the late great Guy Clark, gives us a chance to discuss that unpigeonholeable singer-songwriter, his complicated friendship with Townes Van Zandt, and his influence on disciples such as Steve Earle and Rodney Crowell. Two clips from John Tobler's 1986 interview with Guy prompt tearful memories of Holly's friendship with the Texan troubadour.
After we've said our own sad goodbyes to Melody Maker mainstay Colin Irwin, Low's Mimi Parker and Nazareth frontman Dan McCafferty, Mark and Jasper talk us out with their favourite new additions to the RBP library including interviews with Patti Smith and Little Simz.

Many thanks to special guest Holly Gleason; visit her website at hollygleason.com and find Woman Walk the Line at all good bookshops.

Pieces discussed: Women in country, Taylor Swift, Holly Gleason in conversation with John Prine, Guy Clark audio, Guy Clark: Randall Knives, Desperados & Homegrown Tomatoes, Colin Irwin articles, Low, Nazareth, Patti Smith, Bobbie Gentry and Little Simz.
