    Pain Reframed

Pain Reframed is a podcast for physical therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapy assistants and other health care providers about pain and how pain is managed in our society. Pain is a large issue right now and we will bring powerful and helpful insights on how we can manage pain in a much more efficient and effective way. Pain Reframed is committed to changing language and practice patterns across disciplines and points of care in order to reduce the unnecessary suffering that results from the propagation of misinformation, insufficient understanding of the pain experience, and the over-medicalization of pain in society. Dr. Tim Flynn and Dr. Jeff Moore will share their expertise, as well as the expertise from others in the medical and psychological fields, about pain management and our roles in dealing with pain. We want to create a sustainable, multi-disciplinary, international conversation on pain.

36: And, Not Or | Dr. Louie Puentedura Dec 08, 2017
    Show notes

Pain Reframed is on location, this week, at South College in Knoxville, TN. Dr. Tim Flynn and Dr. Jeff Moore are joined by Dr. Louie Puentedura. Last week's episode with Dr. Tim Tollestrup generated significant, and even passionate, discussion on what Dr. Tollestrup talked about (is there a role for peripheral interventions in tackling persistent pain).

Dr. Puentedura has extensive knowledge in this area as well, so Tim, Jeff, and Louie dive deeper into what was discussed last week to bring even more clarity to the topic. They also bring an "and, not or" call to action while discussing necessary strategies for treating patients with chronic pain in coordination with what was discussed last week.

35: The Issue is in the Tissue | Dr. Tim Tollestrup Nov 30, 2017
    Show notes

Welcome back to another episode of Pain Reframed! This week, Dr. Tim Flynn and Dr. Jeff Moore are talking with Dr. Tim Tollestrup, a peripheral nerve surgeon in Las Vegas. Tim reached out to Jeff and Tim after hearing some episodes of Pain Reframed in order to bring a different perspective stating that sometimes the issue is "in the tissue." His perspective fosters some healthy debate and discussion to provide slightly different treatments based on his experiences with his patients. It's a fantastic discussion that you can learn a significant amount from and also have your viewpoints challenged in a healthy way.

    Show notes

Welcome back to another episode of Pain Reframed! This week, Dr. Tim Flynn and Dr. Jeff Moore are chatting with John Gribbin, who is the CEO of CurableHealth.com, a technology company that's built around providing high-quality neuro education to individuals suffering from persistent pain.

Curable is built by a team of people who have suffered and still suffer from persistent pain, so they know what to provide for those patients suffering today. The science to reframe pain is out there, but unfortunately not accessible to most of society. As a result, Tim, Jeff, and John will discuss what Curable does and how we can integrate it into our practices.

33: Better Pain Management and Healing with Dr. Andrew Rothschild Nov 09, 2017
    Show notes

Today on Pain Reframed, Dr. Andrew Rothschild joins Dr. Jeff Moore and Dr. Tim Flynn. Andrew shares his story with extensive severe and chronic pain as a patient and also, now, from a PT perspective. Andrew's experience with pain as a patient was not, unfortunately, the best experience and, as a result, caused him to train to become a PT to do things differently and, as he puts it, better.

It's a powerful story and contains numerous nuggets along the way worth heeding and applying to our lives as PT's and/or patients suffering from chronic pain.
