Will NC State miss ACC Tournament? | Duke, Flagg respond like contender | UNC 33rd NFL team is silly marketing | OG337 Feb 13, 2025
    Show notes

Joe Ovies and Joe Giglio are back for another Butcher's Market OG Live. Maybe they should talk about Campbell Camels basketball instead of NC State and Wake Forest? Not a great night for the Wolfpack and Demon Deacons! Meanwhile, the SEC has firmly established they run hoops and football now. Is it as simple as money as to why? And is there a way out of this basketball slump for the ACC? Over to Chapel Hill, where North Carolina continues to market itself as the "33rd NFL Team". Why the slogan is silly and really doesn't make any sense.

UNC's NCAA window closing | Steve Smith takes issue with Cam Newton 'losers' comment | NFL Hall of Fame process stinks | Hornets check-in | OG335 Feb 11, 2025
    Show notes

Is one thing to lose. It's another to provide little resistance while doing it. Joe Ovies and Joe Giglio start with North Carolina's debacle at Clemson and provide a few signs of how the Tar Heels are in the bad place. Washington Post's Patrick Stevens drops by to discuss UNC's realistic NCAA Tournament chances, along with the rest of the ACC. To the NFL, where longtime Carolina Panthers reporter Darin Gantt joins the show to discuss how the Hall of Fame process is leaving everyone frustrated. Plus, context as to why there's always been friction between Steve Smith and Cam Newton. The former MVP's comments about the state of the franchise when he arrived did not sit well with the wide receiver. Staying in Charlotte, WFNZ's Walker Mehl joins the podcast to explain what the hell is going on with Mark Williams.

Super Bowl LIX was a night for the haters | Duke slips at Clemson | UNC bubble could burst tonight | OG334 Feb 10, 2025
    Show notes

Joe Ovies and Joe Giglio open with what else? The Super Bowl. That sounds easy, but apparently it isn't. Just ask the Kansas City Chiefs, who got absolutely smushed by the Philadelphia Eagles. It was the kind of blowout that leaves pundits and fans no choice but to reassess conversations we've all been having about Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, Jalen Hurts and others. Meanwhile, back in the Triangle, Duke was finally knocked off in ACC play. Big deal? Maybe. Giglio is curious when Cooper Flagg will be able to finish a close game. Can North Carolina jump on a fat and happy Clemson tonight? The Heels need to if they're going to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive.

    Can Hubert Davis modernize UNC hoops? | ACC's bleak bracketology outlook | Women's hoops check-in | OG331 Feb 04, 2025
    Show notes

Joe Ovies and Joe Giglio pour one out for FSU head coach Leonard Hamilton, who continued the ACC hoops brain drain with his retirement announcement. Is the conference headed towards a coaching crisis? Meanwhile, in Chapel Hill, UNC head coach Hubert Davis said on his radio show that the old model at Carolina doesn't work any more and plans on hiring a hoops GM. This only creates more questions for the Tar Heels. WUNC-FM's Mitch Northam drops by for an ACC women's hoops check-in before WaPo's Patrick Stevens lays out a bleak bracketology picture for the men's side. In the Lightning Round, Ovies & Giglio hit some highlights for Super Bowl Opening Night and have a few more questions about that Luka trade.

    Show notes

Joe Ovies and Joe Giglio revisit Duke trashing North Carolina with a simple question - is everyone overreacting to the result or is there serious heat under Hubert Davis? And yes, the OG Sports Phone had some more takes from Tar Heels and Blue Devils fans. ESPN's Brooke Pryor dropped by the studio before heading off to New Orleans for the Super Bowl. After some UNC basketball therapy, they get into a discussion about why the Kansas City Chiefs are positioned as the NFL bad guys. In the Lightning Round, Ovies and Giglio get into that insane trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks, and more.
