    Outsmart Overeating

You know exactly what to do. You’ve read the books, created the meal plans, promised yourself tomorrow would be different. But you’re burned out—running a career, a household, everyone else’s needs but your own—and somewhere along the way, food stopped being something that adds to your life and became something that runs it.

I’m Leslie Hooper, and on Outsmart Overeating, my co-host Steph Miramontes and I go straight to the psychology… not another hack, not another dead-end diet, but the actual psychological reasons that are keeping you stuck.

EPISODE 195: The 5 Biggest Lies You Tell Yourself That Keep You Overeating Mar 27, 2023
    Show notes

Are you a busy working Mom who's been struggling to eat whole foods and exercise for over 3 months because you have diet burnout?

    And let me guess.

You've probably already tried counting calories, Weight Watchers and Keto, but nothing works?

When we look at "naturally thin" people, they don't count calories, but yet they effortlessly maintain their weight eating everything they want no matter how stressful life gets.

If you want to learn what they're doing, it's important that you start by understanding their inner psychology.

In this episode, we explain how natural eaters think differently from dieters. And it starts with unraveling the 5 biggest lies dieters tell themselves that keep them overeating (and what to do about it).

It's important to understand that transformations happen in the mind long before they happen in the body and that's exactly what we want to show you.

To go even deeper into this topic, don't miss my upcoming workshop with Coach Steph Miramontes, "Train to Your Brain to Eat Like a Naturally Thin Person." You can check it out HERE.

EPISODE 193: What it Means to Eat Like a 'Normal' Person (and How to Do It) Mar 13, 2023
    Show notes

On this week's episode of the Fat Murder Podcast, Coach Steph Miramontes joins me to discuss how in order to permanently lose the weight, you have to lose the dieter's mindset.

Most of the women I've had the pleasure of working with do what all the other dieters do — they practice being overweight and seeking a magical solution.

Instead, you should be practicing what natural eaters do, NOT what overweight women do. I know this is surely not your intention.

You want to lose the weight AND the whole problem.

But if you are approaching it like a dieter, then you are creating more of what you don't want:

    • The thoughts of overweight women
    • The feelings of overweight women
    • The actions of overweight women

….and you are stuck in the struggle.

Of course you're not doing this on purpose. I know it's the opposite of what you want.

If you want to eat and think like a natural eater then you need to stop doing what dieters do, and start doing what natural eaters do.

Join us for the conversation. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how you think a 'natural eater' interacts with the world compared to a dieter?

Think of a child or "naturally thin' friend, colleague or family member. How do they eat? What habits have you observed?

EPISODE 192: Understanding Your Diet Personality Type to Stop Overeating Mar 06, 2023
    Show notes

When it comes to losing weight, there's no way around it: we HAVE to eat food. The problem many dieters run into is that they're torn between two extremes:

Restrictors: These people diet like it's their full-time job Permitters: These are the YOLO! dieters

In other words, Restrictors have a hard time saying yes to food while Permitters have a hard time saying no.

Join Coach Steph Miramontes and I today as we explore the world of dieting, the two types of people that inhabit this magical land, and how to turn the tables in your favor.

    Topics discussed:

    • Understanding the differences between Permitters and Restrictors; how these two types interact with food and what they can do to overcome these self-limiting barriers
    • How the way we view our body can influence how we view our weight loss journey
    • Why awareness and being kind to yourself are the two major players when it comes to any successful weight loss story
    • A step-by-step process on how to navigate your way out your dieting type so you can lose the dieter's mindset (and the weight), once and for all
    • How your diet brain is a dirty rotten liar that can't be trusted and what you need to be listening to for guidance instead

What about you? Are you a Restrictor or a Permitter? Everyone has aspects of both, but similar to having a dominant right or left hand, knowing which one you are can help you break free from the shackles of dieting.

EPISODE 190: Body Image & Your Sex Life Feb 20, 2023
    Show notes

Body image can really mess with our heads — in bed.

For women, the way they see their bodies can have a big impact on their feelings of sexual desire and their ability to become aroused.

Today, on the Fat Murder Podcast, join co-coach Steph Miramontes and me as we discuss the feelings of body self-consciousness and how it often interferes with our sexual lives.

In fact, according to research, next to financial differences, negative body image is one of the biggest obstacles of sexual enjoyment in women.

There are two kinds of body image issues that impact a woman sexually:

    1. what she thinks of herself
    2. what she believes her partner thinks of her body

Is this stone thing you've struggled with? If so, you're not alone. Don't miss today's episode on how body insecurity has affected your sex life and what to do about it.

In today's episode of the Fat Murder Podcast with Coach Steph Miramontes, we discussed the primary reasons WHY you may be able to nail your eating behaviors all day long, but as soon as the day progresses, the wheels fall off and you find yourself eating anything that doesn't eat you first. Have you noticed yourself snacking more during the evening hours? What foods do you find yourself gravitating towards? Are they the same as what's in your meal or are you eating foods on your naughty list? Why does this happen and how do we make it stop? EPISODE 188: How to Adopt an Abundance Mindset to Stop Overeating Feb 06, 2023
    Show notes

The "naturally thin" behave in mysterious ways. We all know those people who have that magical superpower where they can just have a bite or two of a cookie, put it down, and never think about it again.

WHAT PLANET DO THESE PEOPLE COME FROM!? The truth is, these people aren't born special with a special superpower nor do they have more willpower or a faster metabolism than you. The difference is in their inner psychology and you can learn how to become this person, too. Join Coach Steph Miramontes and me for today's episode of the Fat Murder Podcast as we discuss how incorporating processed foods into your meals can prevent instances of overeating. You'll learn:

    • Step by step guidance on how to eat these foods without losing control
    • How the fear of eating hyper-palatable foods can actually keep you enslaved to them

What do you think? Are you ready to learn the eating habits and inner psychology of the "naturally thin" so you can master your relationship with food and settle into a life that feels amazing? Check out today's episode and let us know what you think!

EPISODE 187: The Scale: Is it Helping or Hurting? Jan 30, 2023
    Show notes

When it smiles in our favor, we're walking on cloud 9 and nothing can bring us down.

When it shows us a number other than the one we want, it can send us into a mental and physical tailspin.

The scale is a neutral device made of plastic and metal...until we attach meaning and our worth to it. When we take a closer look at the amount of power we give it in our lives, neutral is the furthest thing from the truth.

In this episode, Coach Steph Miramontes and I talk about how to improve your relationship with the scale.

    Topics discussed:
    • Why people put so much value & emphasis on the scale
    • Scale avoiders vs Scale addicts
    • Different non-scale victories to celebrate and mark your progress
    • How often we recommend weighing yourself
What about you? What role does the scale play in your life? When you see a number that you define as "success" do you reward yourself by eating more? What about when the number doesn't represent your hard work? How do you respond? I'd love to hear all about it. Shoot me a DM on Instagram! Connect with Leslie:
