Episode 022: The Return Edition Mar 30, 2018
    Show notes

Where has this show been? In detail...an explanation, and then, let's talk about pop culture. Jason Martin @JMartOutkick returns to the microphone to discuss the final season of The Americans, the brilliance of The Good Place, the promise of HBO's Barry, and Steven Spielberg's supremely fun Ready Player One. The first new episode of 2018, but one jammed with content to enjoy on this Easter weekend!

    Episode 021 - Wet Bandits Edition Dec 15, 2017
    Show notes

@JMartOutkick comes this week with exactly one topic, and gives you time to see The Last Jedi before speaking about it at all. Instead, he reveals his favorite Christmas movie ever, and for nearly an hour, describes Home Alone from virtually every angle, from the reality of Harry and Marv's certain deaths at the hands of Kevin McCallister to the score to the incredible box office record the film held for 27 years...to even the obnoxious nature of the pizza delivery guy. It's all here. You've seen the movie. You love the movie. Sit back and listen to Home Alone dissected like never before, as only Jason and Outkick can do it! You will dig this. Promise. Merry Christmas!

    Episode 020 - 2014 Top Ten All-Time TV Drama List Revisited...and Revised Dec 08, 2017
    Show notes

The first assignment Jason Martin ever took on for Outkick the Coverage was to compose ten longform pieces ranking the top ten dramas of his lifetime. Lists are subjective and limited by personal experience, but they're also a lot of fun. A little over three years later, @JMartOutkick revisits that list, atones for his mistakes, explains why each show was worthy at the time (except for one), and edits in new entries that would be included if the list were redone today, or at least speculates where they might fall. It was these articles that led to Jason's extensive pop culture coverage for the website, and later to his role on the Outkick the Coverage radio program, not to mention this podcast. This one's fun. Enjoy!

Episode 019 - Mr. Robots, Lauers, Cap'n Holts, and Much Tunage Ranked Dec 01, 2017
    Show notes

Back after the holiday break as Outkick executive producer and pop culture writer @JMartOutkick raves about Mr. Robot and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, going into detail about the reasons for success and why both are must watch at this stage, then discusses Matt Lauer's firing at NBC, chats about Netflix's media changes, praises Lady Bird, and ranks the top music of 2017 as we near its conclusion.

Episode 018 - Justice Leagues to End Kevin Pearsons and Praise Margo Prices Nov 17, 2017
    Show notes

Jason Martin (@JMartOutkick) goes real talk on Justice League, has a few final comments on the continuing Hollywood and political sexual assault scandals, crushes This Is Us for this week's episode, praises Margo Price's talent, gives a top five in music for 2017, apologizes for Mr. Robot delays, and has a Thanksgiving message for all the Outkick the Culture army.

Episode 017 - Scandals, Strangers, Sea Lice, and Nature Boys Nov 10, 2017
    Show notes

A heavier episode this week, as Outkick lead culture writer and Fox Sports Radio executive producer @JMartOutkick (Jason Martin) discusses the recent scandals and revelations in Hollywood, then moves on to review Stranger Things 2 with an attention to the positive messages of the series, and then goes into detail on the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair 30 for 30 from Rory Karpf that premiered this week. That plus a whole-hearted music recommendation, a concert review, and a personal thank you. Enjoy! Spread the word!

    Episode 016 - "2" Things of Stranger Origins Oct 27, 2017
    Show notes

This week, it's all Stranger Things, all the time, as Jason Martin (@JMartOutkick) reviews the new season, carefully avoiding any spoilers, and talks about the phenomenon of the franchise, detailing the successes of the first season, what it means to people who grew up during the 1980s, what worked best and why even the show's imperfections made it charming and endearing on a nostalgia level. We'll spoil it in future weeks, but this week is a SAFE journey to Hawkins, Indiana, where we just talk about how much fun it is to escape into the Duffer Brothers unique universe.

    Episode 015 - Huntin' Them Minds Oct 20, 2017
    Show notes

This week...@JMartOutkick had planned to talk about a lot of things. Instead, he talked for almost an hour about Netflix's new hit drama, Mindhunter, both about the real behind the show... and about the series, the stars, David Fincher, and tons more. Call it a theme episode, where the theme is serial killers. Fun stuff! But it's a discussion worth having.

Episode 014 - Mr. Robots and Mary Jane's Last Dance Oct 13, 2017
    Show notes

This week, @JMartOutkick talks a fun return for Mr. Robot, a good episode of This Is Us with an entertaining and important A-list appearance from Sylvester Stallone, the sad death of a legendary musician as Tom Petty passes away, and an introspective look at 2017. Also a few thoughts on Blade Runner's box office struggles and Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile's new album.

Episode 013 - Let's Talk TV Comedy, Politico, Us's, and Blades That Run Oct 06, 2017
    Show notes

@JMartOutkick puts a final bow on the Politico debacle from last week, commenting one final time on how he was portrayed in Ben Strauss' article, thanks the supporters for their kind words over the past seven days, and then gets deep into pop culture. A full review of This Is Us from this week, and then some rapid fire reactions to all of network TV's best comedies, focusing on Speechless, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fresh Off The Boat, and tons more. Finally, Jason reviews Blade Runner 2049 and compares it to another sci-fi sequel that found much critical acclaim a few years ago. Plus, a quick few pieces of information on Rick & Morty and Bob's Burgers. All that and more!
