Like always we open the show on a curve ball as we learn that Scoop does the show in pajama pants that he does not sleep in and wears for like an hour before bed. But we quickly jerk the wheel to Greentree as we take a look at Miami's newest coaching addition, Damione Lewis, who will line up next to Jason Taylor to help with the defensive line. Plus Miami's coaching staff lands high marks for recruiting this off season, but everyone wants to see these recruits develop so we don't have to rely so heavily on the portal.

We also celebrate 2-10 day in honor of Florida State's horrendous season, which leads us into terrible sports moments like Atlanta blowing a 28-3 lead that sticks around for a long time. And we get a classic story from Scoop about a real estate friend who had a WILD dating experience, and Toast shares a crazy road rage story from 595 in Fort Lauderdale. Plus Matt Patricia goes to Ohio State, Chip Kelly moves back to the NFL and Toast breaks down Pete Carroll going to the Raiders. We also weigh in on the way-too-early Miami predictions made by Canes Warning, including Carson Beck's return to excellence, Xavier Lucas making an impact and Miami making the ACC Championship Game.

This week's guest drops in and it's 7-time NBA Champion ROBERT HORRY who joins the show live from the Spectrum LA studios as he calls the Lakers-Jazz game. Rob talks about his iconic big shots, how he was anointed his nickname "Big Shot Bob" and the kind of relationship he had with Coach Greg Popovich during his Spurs years. We also get Rob's thoughts on the new-look Lakers, the differences between Pop and Phil Jackson, and Toast has to bring up Rob's loss in the Sweet Sixteen to Loyola in 1990. And as a college football podcast we of course have to get Rob's thoughts on DeBoer as an Alabama alum.

#157: Comedian Ben Palmer & Miami's Top-Rated Portal Class - A Gas Station Milkshake Feb 06, 2025

We open the show Scoop-less this week, but get right into Miami's top-rated portal class in 2025 - which was expected after we rebuilt the secondary and got the top QB in the portal for the second year in a row. And Toast and Roman react to the FanDuel line of 8.5 wins for Miami this season, as they take a look at the ACC schedule and try to figure out how Clemson and North Carolina will fare this season.

Ohio State's interest in Shannon Dawson draws a mixed reaction between the guys... as Toast believes the job will go to Brian Hartline, but Roman feels like he would have gotten the gig already and Dawson may be in play. We also debate how far OH's National Championship will carry them even if they are unable to beat Michigan.

Comedian Ben Palmer joins the show and talks about his epic trolling content - which started with his older brother who was a Canes fan all his life, even though Ben himself grew up a Cleveland Browns fan. We also pick Ben's troll brain about the best way to screw with Florida State fans and he immediately dives into his best trolling methods and it's hilarious! We also talk about how he would sue his friends to get on TV court shows, how he infiltrates neighborhood groups on Facebook and his proudest moment of pretending to be the City of Atlanta on Facebook and basically taking over the city's narrative!

Like always we close it out with Five Questions - including why we never see bicycles in the Zombie apocalypse, our thoughts on Elon Musk, things that should always be free, what's pissing us off right now and the dumbest reasons we've ever been late.

We open our series of offseason interviews with a sports legend - Chris Myers from Fox Sports. We quickly get into Chris being friends with Bill Murray (who wrote the foreword for his new book) and Chris shares some hilarious stories from their friendship over the years. Plus Chris got his start in Miami working alongside the legendary voice of the Canes, Sonny Hirsch, and all the Miami Hurricanes guys he grew up following. The guys also learned that Chris dabbled in stand up comedy before getting into sports broadcasting, and talks about his favorite comedians. And there is some impromptu Five Questions topics that spin us off into even more fun and stories.

#155: Miami's Way-Too-Early Top 25 Ranking - A Taylor Swift Dutch Oven Jan 23, 2025

It's whiskey talk at the top of the show as Ro celebrates Whiskey Wednesday and fills us in on the best new trends. We also talk about New York Yankee Steakhouse, our kids athletic accomplishments coming into the week and memories of Scoop and Roman's band. And as we head on down to Greentree, Toast has to take up for setting Twitter on fire with some comments about how the Miami administration failed to support Mario in the Lucas transfer controversy.

Congrats are due to Scoop's Ohio State for winning the National Championship, and how spending money in the portal can be largely beneficial if it's spent in the right place. That leads us into a debate over portal players versus developed players and how Toast wants more homegrown talent and fewer hired guns. And we won't have to face Al Golden's defense in Week 1 of 2025 as he moves on from Notre Dame.

Roman also sets the line at +3 favorable calls that lean toward the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. And the CBS way-too-early Top 25 has Miami at #3, and while Toast thinks it's insane, Roman actually likes it. Scoop also believes that Miami's defense is vastly improved and the offense, with Carson Beck, did not take as big a step back as anticipated. All that said, Ro needs to make sure these defensive backs and linebackers ultimately need to be cover guys. Plus Mario getting snubbed from the list of the Top 25 coaches going into the 2025 season is deserved according to Roman.

The audio of the week is the woman who drove the golf cart into the wall at the National Championship game. And Five Questions includes things we'll never do again, what fast food is actually the best quality, colognes we would recommend, the best advertisement line we've ever heard and the most childish things we've bought with our adult money.

Darren Heitner Discusses the Xavier Lucas Case with the Orange Bowl Boys Jan 21, 2025

One of the biggest stories in the country has been the transfer of cornerback Xavier Lucas from Wisconsin to Miami, and sports attorney Darren Heitner has been representing him in the case. Heitner, a UM adjunct professor of NIL at UM School of Law, has been frequently posting on social media in defense of his client, and he joins the Orange Bowl Boys to break down this wild case.

The Big Ten released a statement over the weekend supporting Wisconsin keeping Lucas from the transfer portal. Heitner stated that the contract between Lucas and Wisconsin is not binding because the NCAA does not allow its member schools to pay athletes directly. Wisconsin's claim of tampering was received as "absurd" according to Heitner.

We get into the big looming questions about how or if this will affect Xavier's transfer to UM, what action they plan to take against the Big Tem and Wisconsin, and how the loopholes in this case became a national story.

#154: Miami's New Defensive Coordinator - A Room Full of Jennifer Anistons Jan 16, 2025

The University of Miami has a new Defensive Coordinator... and we somehow open the show with the alleged Barack Obama affair rumors because we simply cannot believe who is involved!

We head on down to Greentree as we dive head first into Corey Hetherman as he takes the reins as the new Miami DC. And while there has been a lot of "coach speak" coming from him so far, the game film backs up his claims as Roman has now done a few Student of the Game breakdowns on Minnesota. Scoop remains a bit hesitant because of how excited everyone was for Guidry in the beginning and needs to see him simplify the approach and make it work for our guys. Toast enjoys the fact that he's a teacher at heart because he wants to see more on-field development from the defense.

Carson Beck had suitors in Georgia (who wanted him to stay) and Alabama, but he chose Miami not just for the NIL money but the talented roster that Mario has built. Scoop talks about why he's excited and what's giving him pause as Miami now has the most experienced big-game quarterback in college football. But without a Spring game, we really don't know what to expect going into the season. And everyone sounds off the new proposed transfer window which would not only make more sense but drum up tons more excitement.

The Wheel of Topics goes around from hilarious audio from the new TLC show about the social media influencer who has tourettes, and the insane story about the coyote being pulled out of the produce cooler of an Aldi in Chicago. And Five Questions covers good movie role models for men, signs that a person was a lonely child, what stocks would skyrocket if aliens landed tomorrow, things that aren't sexy that turn us on, and the biggest risks we ever took.

Carson Beck to Miami - Orange Bowl Boys Reaction Show Jan 11, 2025

Ro's been saying it for weeks - Miami needed "a dude" at quarterback. And Miami got their dude in UGA transfer Carson Beck. So the opening question is whether the guys are happy with their dude. And it seems everyone thinks this was the best move possible as Mario has somehow locked down one of the top QBs in the portal again.

Jenners offers up some insight as a UGA insider on the caliber of quarterback the Canes are getting in Carson Beck, which was a little mixed in 2024. Offensive line protection is a big part of Carson's success, and Ro feels like Miami did a much better job protecting Cam Ward than Georgia did protecting Carson. There is also some high praise for the UM collective for putting up all the money to get Carson Beck and the secondary locked down.

As Roman goes Student of the Game on Carson, the question arises about whether they go out in the Spring and lock down another guy to learn from him and develop into your next big starter. Toast also goes out and sets the bar again at 10 wins after spending this kind of money on a star quarterback. Ro also tries to break down the key differences between Carson Beck and Cam Ward as we prepare for a different style of quarterback under center.

And we address arguably the BIGGEST question on the table... will he be totally healthy when the time comes to play in Week 1?? We also try to figure out where we stand with the hiring of a new Defensive Coordinator and what that does to help lift up what Carson will be able to do on the offensive side of the ball. And we wrap it up with our thoughts on the National Championship matchup between Notre Dame and Ohio State.

#153: Miami Transfers and Secondary - Who Wants to Be Scoop's Bunny? Jan 09, 2025

It's an off season show that opens with conversation about the crazy wild fires burning out of control in California, as we have friends affected by the massive destruction. But we quickly pivot to Greentree as Toast asks the show if we can remember the last time a Miami player was heavily considered to go #1 in the NFL Draft. And we're quickly reminded that Vinny Testaverde and Russell Maryland were the last two to do it, and we debate if Cam will be associated more with Wazzu than the U in the NFL.

We also try to make sense of the Portal madness happening around college football with another year of NIL setting the tone. And with more transfers leaving the program, only to over perform at their next stop, we also try to untangle where that fall off comes from.

We have absolutely dropped some bags to rebuild the secondary and we’re all super confident it will show up on the field. While the backend of the defense has been addressed, the QB room has not. We talked about our three-deep room and there’s not a lot of confidence, especially when you realize Al Golden’s defense will be the first thing we face week 1.

And of course we close it out with Five Questions, which include the strangest places we've explored, weird rumors we've heard about ourselves, and what we would do with a Presidential pardon.
