#168: Miami Transfer Portal Updates - Steve Irwin Boulevard Apr 24, 2025
    Show notes

We open with props to the UM Basketball team's recruiting, which has been ramped up in the last few weeks... and that somehow spins us into a conversation about forgotten department stores and our favorite spots in the mall. But we quickly get down to Greentree, as Mario also offers an update on Carson Beck's progress, which looks like it is ahead of schedule for his return. And we debate whether Beck will have the ROI that Mario will need to ensure he's not billed as "lucky" on his transfer quarterbacks.

Everyone also takes a moment to lament about the dysfunctional Spring portal window and how bad it is, especially as Arkansas now has plans to sue Madden Iamaleava, and how college players will need to start signing contracts to keep this from happening. Plus Curt Cignetti was throwing Miami's name around this week for a reason we really don't mind, and how Lane Kiffin's shot at Carson Beck's NIL deal was based entirely on rumors. Toast also brings the Miami Hurricanes Mount Rushmore to the show as the trend is making the rounds on social media.

Plus we are loaded up with a WILD Wheel of Topics this week, which starts with the falling stock of Shedeur Sanders on the eve of the NFL Draft. We also have a huge laugh at the double-speaking Australian twins who went super viral this week, and wonder if Paul Heyman will be banned from ESPN after his wild appearance on McAfee's show. And the audio of the week from Shaquille O'Neal who clearly destroyed a toilet after running off the set of Inside the NBA on TNT.

And it wouldn't be a show without a round of Five Questions - which this week include what celebrity we'd switch places with, the most petty reason we stopped talking to someone, where we would teleport and what animal parts we'd add to our bodies.

    #167: UM Spring Game Winners & Losers - Boobie Feaster on a Glizzy See-Saw Apr 17, 2025
    Show notes

We open the show right away with the biggest college football story of the week, Nico Iamaleava parting ways with Tennessee over his NIL demands, which really makes us all re-examine how dangerous the portal has become to college football. And Toast lays the blame for this mess at the feet of former NCAA President Mark Emirate for failing to fix the issues that have loomed since his reign.

From there we quickly pivot into the Miami Hurricanes Spring Game as we break down our winners and losers from the day, and how Scoop feels like we already have too many slot receivers. It ranges from Ny Carr hitting the transfer portal, to the possible addition of Trebor Pena from Syracuse, and how that room already seems to be mis-managed by the coaching staff. And as we lose guys in the secondary, which Toast and Roman feel will happen, Scoop finds himself a little more surprised.

ESPN also made the Nico story, somehow, about Mario Cristibal as both Ryan Clark and Mike Greenberg sounded off on how Mario handled Carson Beck and his Oregon contract which the guys point out makes NO sense. Cam Ward also inked a deal with Under Armour ahead of the NFL Draft, and looks like he might have accidentally revealed on a Fortnite stream that his deal to go #1 to the Titans is done.

We also have a LOADED Wheel of Audio this week... which starts with Colorado deciding to retire the numbers of Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders which is met with a lot of kickback from not only the OBB's but Denver local news. Scoop really enjoys reliving the Rory win at The Masters, and everyone has a laugh at the amatuer who peed in Rae's Creek at Augusta National. Plus some amazing audio from Mad Dog Chris Russo's interview with golf legend Gary Player, and Braves reporter Wiley Ballard getting a girl's number live on the air in the middle of a game... which, despite the faux outrage, sparks a conversation about how everyone got their wives numbers when they first met.

And of course we close it out with a round of Five Questions - which include fictional characters we'd like to be friends with, what mysteries we'd like to have the answers to, places we've never been but feel nostalgic about, extinct animals we'd like to have brought back to life, and things that should be universally free for everyone.

#166: Miami Spring Game Preview - Famous Annus Cookies Apr 10, 2025
    Show notes

As always, we open with another left turn topic as we revisit the Nutella debate, and Jenners tries his first ever Nutella sandwich live on the show... and it's not that bad. But he isn't as all-in on it as Toast and Roman are, which spins us into a whole tangent about pancake etiquette. And it's Spring game weekend, and dive into the quarterbacks as we're looking to see who shines with Carson Beck still on the sideline. While Roman is focused on the defense, which spins into a debate about the new scheme's "simplicity", Scoop seems less than optimistic that Luke Nickel could emerge as QB2. Toast thinks that the defense is going to feast on the offense if only to make a big statement.

We also get into the wide receivers, simply because everyone wants to know who will fill Restrepo's shoes both on the field and in the locker room. Plus Mario flipped another defensive stud from Georgia, and we discuss the expectations of Rueben Bain after he was named #4 on PFF's list of returning edge defenders. Credit also goes out, as best as a bunch of Canes can muster, to the Florida Gators who won the National Title this week.

This week's Wheel of Topics starts with Alex Ovechkin breaking Gretzky's all-time NHL scoring record, which spins into a conversation about sports records that will never be broken. And we get a highlight in the ongoing feud between Charles Barkley and the women of San Antonio, we highlight another classic small-town baseball brawl and the wild story about the high school baseball player who peed in an opposing team's water cooler.

And it wouldn't be a show without a round of Five Questions - which this week include worst food we've eaten that we'd feed to an enemy, unconventional weapons to defend ourselves, what sound we'd replace car horns with, unexpected vending machine items and what rules we'd make as kings of our own islands.

#165: Carson Beck Expectations - White Bread and Nutella Apr 03, 2025
    Show notes

We open the show this week with more talk about the Miami Baseball team and try to figure out the last time Miami was .500 this far into the season. And Toast pivots us quickly to a strange question - is it okay to shower naked while also bathing your pet? After a few wild laughs we quickly pivot to Canes spring practice, especially the emergence of CJ Daniels as the leader of the wide receiver room. Roman also has some praise for the strength of Carson Beck's arm, as he's hopeful that the right WRs will help him excel, while Toast praises him for coming in after Cam Ward with a lot to prove.

Everyone runs down some of the things that Mario still needs to accomplish in his tenure, including winning (or at least playing for) an ACC Championship. And there is a lot of discussion about how Miami's Pro Day was dominated by offensive players, and the tweet that Scoop threw out that set the fan base on fire.

The Wheel of Topics this week starts off with discussion of Torpedo bats, which is all the rage so far this season in MLB, as everyone falls in on different sides of the argument. Plus we lost Val Kilmer this week and all the guys weigh in on their favorite Kilmer roles and moments in movies. We also jump into the crazy changes to the NFL rules, including teams trying to ban the tush push simply because it's become too successful. Plus the downfall of the Oakland A's is hysterical, as is Shaq not knowing where Nikola Jokic is from.

And it wouldn't be a show without a round of Five Questions - which this week include signs of a serial killer, things we probably shouldn't judge, things our pets would roast us for if they could talk, what the weird kid at our schools did to earn his reputation, and what part of the guy code we don't like.

#164: Xavier Restrepo & Canes in the NFL Draft - There Was One Named Curious Mar 28, 2025
    Show notes

Right out of the gate everyone jumps on the Miami baseball team for their "lackluster" performance as of late, especially after getting run-ruled by Florida State and a horrendous showing against Stetson. We also spin into MLB Opening Day before getting down to Greentree, which offroads into how long the MLB season should be, as 162 games is just too many. Everyone is also hyped to have Xavier Restrepo join the show as we look back at what he was able to accomplish as a Miami Hurricane, and we try to figure out where he'll get drafted.

We are also joined by Miami's all-time leading receiver, now headed into the NFL Draft, wide receiver Xavier Restrepo! We talk to X about how he looks at his accomplishments at Miami, how his legacy will live on in Coral Gables, and he talks about how dangerous it would be for him and Cam Ward to get drafted by the same team. X also has a lot of love for Cam and talks about how he thinks he and Cam will adjust to NFL systems after playing under Shannon Dawson's offense. And with a lot of wide receiver talent leaving Miami, X breaks down how the offense was built for guys to be able to replace the players going out.

Plus we ask him about who he'd like to score on in the NFL, his bucket list golf courses, and his best (and most meaningful) catches while playing at the U. He gets a little blind sided when Toast asks him if he ever got an NIL offer to leave Miami, and he talks about the story that's circulating about his "slow" 40 time at Miami Pro Day.

We also take a look at the ESPN SP+ rankings - which somehow have the Canes as the #1 offense in the country, but the defense at #49. That spins us into a conversation about the growth of the roster, what transfers and commits moved around this year, and a look at the rankings of all the Canes opponents this season.

The Wheel of Topics gets heated when Toast has to defend his boy Danny Hurley as the UConn head coach got caught on a hot mic complaining about the officiating after their loss to Florida in the NCAA Tournament. While Scoop has a great distaste for Hurley, Toast argues that Miami would fire Jai Clark in a heartbeat to have him coach the Canes. And everyone reflects on the life of George Foreman, talks about the mystery woman behind Rick Pitino who was offered a porn deal, and whether LeBron James is as big of a baby as Danny Hurley after his back-and-forth with Stephen A Smith.

And we round it out with another hilarious round of Five Questions, including who we would shapeshift into, the worst punishment we ever got from our parents, what celebrity sold their soul to the devil, how we would notify our loved ones if we were kidnapped, and the worst response to the question "do I look fat?"

#163: Adam Rank & Beck vs Cavinder - Camel Toe Munching Caterpillars Mar 20, 2025
    Show notes

We open with the case of Beck vs Cavinder, as relationship drama has seized Miami spring camp. Scoop immediately puts Carson on Heisman watch now that he has no distractions which spins into a hilarious comparison of Carson's life as of late to a country song. And do the Canes need another receiver with Ray Ray and Jo Jo showing out this spring? Maybe these new tight ends can fill some of that space as the Canes have a pretty great looking tight end room so far.

We are joined by NFL.com's Adam Rank, who turns the table on us immediately by picking our brains about Cam Ward's game compared to some of the best quarterbacks over the last few years. And as a die hard Bears fan, we don't know how well our criticism of Caleb Wililams was received. Adam lays out why he's gotten bigger on Cam Ward, side tracks into a discussion about Cannonball Run, and his take on the big receivers on the board as we close in on the NFL Draft.

And of course we off-road into wrestling as John Cena's name comes up, and Adam loves to talk about how great some guys are as a heel. Steering it back to football, Adam also breaks down where he feels like Cam is a more complete quarterback than Shadeur Sanders.

We also roll out a wild wheel of topics, which go through Tracey Morgan puking his guts out courtside at a Knicks game, hilarious audio of a baseball fight that the play-by-play announcer just doesn't seem to care about, and a shocking take on Scottie Scheffler's Masters menu. And it wouldn't be a show without a round of Five Questions - which include basic skills that most people struggle with, professions we'd never date, our weirdest habits, and what anxiety smells like.

    #162: Shawne Merriman & Miami's Best Spring Players - Tomato Cans Mar 13, 2025
    Show notes

It's Spring practice in Miami and the guys are excited to talk football with Shawne Merriman! And as Spring ball rolls on we are starting to turn up the hype level on the 2025 Canes as guys like Hayden Lowe start to show out and impress the coaching staff. Plus everyone seems to be big on the defensive additions including Xavier Lucas, who Wisconsin continues to whine about losing which tells Ro he's the real deal. The Canes came in at #2 on USA Today's spring rankings, which doesn't mean much in the Spring, especially with FSU all the way up to #8 somehow.

Then we are joined by NFL legend Shawne Merriman, who immediately gets into the origins of his iconic "Lights Out" nickname, and how he knocked out four kids in a game in high school. He also jokes about how he started the Lights Out dance while at Maryland and coach Ralph Friedgen shut it down, and it didn't surface again until the NFL. Shawne also shares some iconic stories about almost decommitting from Maryland to go to Miami, how Ralph Friedgen once played quarterback and how much the rules of pro football have changed since he last played. And how Shawne went from the NFL into MMA is an iconic story about Jay Glaze and Randy Couture, and when he knew he could grow it into a cool new network.

Shawne also gets into the depths of his fandom for MMA and UFC, and how his Lights Out Xtreme Fighting has become a feeder for pro fighting. He also jokes with the guys about WWE, including his all time favorite wrestlers, and how he's had the opportunity to be in the ring and meet some of the legends. And there is no way we part with Shawne before talking to him about his biggest defensive plays in the NFL and what his NIL number would be if he played today.

And we close out with another round of Five Questions - including would your kids be off limits to the media if they were professional ball players (spurring a huge debate about Bronny James and his voyage to the NBA), the ingredients on your ultimate sandwich, a single line from a comedy film everyone knows, the ugliest car ever made, and where we feel completely at home.

#161: Miami Spring Practice - Feed Me and Call Me Coach Mar 06, 2025
    Show notes

Scoop started a bit in the group chat this week regarding a current picture of a former rocker, that turned out to be Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit... and he's getting the full backstory about the band on the "Disrespectfully" podcast, which is a wild story. And as we get down to Greentree we get into the settlement of the FSU and Clemson lawsuit against the ACC, with payouts coming to teams with great seasons - and Miami is really the big winner here!

We also start jumping into Spring practice and marvel at the fact that guys we covered only a few years ago are already seniors, and just how fast those years go by. And a huge salute to Jimmy Johnson, who retired this week after a 31 year career at Fox and over 34 years as a coach, a true UM legend! Plus a look around the defensive side of the ball has us slightly optimistic as we start to get a pulse from the practice fields. Recruiting has also been going strong, which has always been Mario's strong suit, as we start to see where some of the newest recruits will fall into the program.

The Tennessee Titans have set up their meeting with Cam Ward - which for some reason, Toast does not like - as it looks like he may end up there after all. And the Wheel of Topics takes us from Mike Tomlin's coaching tenure, the John Cena heel turn and what that means for the resurgence of the WWE, everyone has some hot takes on the Travis Hunter vs Shohei Ohtani debate, and our most underrated bands.

Plus we close the show, as always, with a wild round of Five Questions - including two people who would light it up at a press conference, what we'd get as our next tattoos, the sign we'd hold up at the State of the Union, our last "we need to get out of here" moments, the job where you need a high level of tolerance for being yelled at, and your feel-good "don't care about calories" meal.

#160: Miami Spring Football & Running Backs Hype - Play Peek-A-Boo with Her Feb 27, 2025
    Show notes

Toast opens this week's show by sharing a story about how his wife was attacked by a wild animal during her morning Yoga... as she had an encounter with a puss caterpillar. We didn't realize that they were extremely poisonous but Toast learned when his wife almost ended up in the emergency room.

We go down to Greentree and start with the news that Miami's new head basketball coach will be Duke assistant Jai Lucas, with the news breaking before the school was likely ready to announce it. He is a great recruiter (while wearing the Kentucky and Duke logo) and Miami should be able to bounce back with some talent in the coming seasons, if the gamble pays off. And could a former Duke coach flip the Boozer twins from Duke?

Plus we do our best CSI investigation into the Carson Beck stolen vehicles (even though they were found a day later) as we talk about how scary it is to have someone in your home when you're sleeping. And Spring Football is HERE starting Monday and we can't believe how fast it came up. Scoop is hyped for the explosive running back tandem of Mark Fletcher and Jordan Lyle, with very high praise for both guys, and just how deep they are in that position group. Even though Carson Beck still isn't throwing, we will likely have eyes on Luke Nickel to see if he can elevate to the back-up position over Emory and Judd.

It's NFL Combine week and we try to figure out if Tennessee is going to go ahead and draft Cam Ward at #1 or they will pass him down to the Browns at #2. That spins us into a debate about who had the worse contract - Deshaun Watson or Daniel Jones. And we have no idea how we ended up debating Bill Clinton's body count, yet here we are.

A WILD wheel of topics includes the Mary Kate Cornett story that has taken over social media, the couple who was forced to sit next to a dead woman for four hours on a Qatar Airways flight, and how ugly the world's first flying car looks. Plus we close it out as always with a round of

Five Questions, which includes the best martial arts movie ever made, something we see lots of people do that we'd never do, our most shallow dating requirements, what we'd do with an extra hour a day and the best rock song to play during a protest.

#159: Roy Firestone & Miami Steals Will Harris - An Anomaly Showed Up Feb 20, 2025
    Show notes

It's a random wrestling conversation to start the show this week, as we talk about Miami's new coaching additions. We end up in a debate about our favorite wrestlers and who made the biggest impact on the shows in the last 20 years.

We are joined by a UM alum and media legend Roy Firestone and immediately joke about how much we are dating ourselves by remembering the highlights of Roy's hay day on ESPN! As a former Cane, Roy immediately starts reminiscing about the days of the Orange Bowl in Miami and how he wishes they would have kept the stadium, even sharing his favorite game of all time at the Bowl. As a legendary interviewer we joke with Roy about his favorite first questions and he shares some amazing moments with Shaquille O'Neal who he has amazing stories with from over the years. Roy talks about getting his start in Miami television and crossing paths with Chris Myers who was on the show a few weeks ago!

And of course Roy shares some of his favorite interviews including Wilt Chamberlain, Charles Barkley, Shannon Sharpe, Mike Tyson, Barry Bonds and so many more! Plus the baseball conversation turns to Shohai Ohtani and whether or not he's the best player to ever play. Roy is also intently dialed in to the Canes, as he was there for the Syracuse loss this year, and has some pretty high praise for Cam Ward as we close in on the NFL Draft. Plus we start a conversation about the biggest sports upsets, and where the Tyson-Douglas fight ranks on that list.

As we head down to Greentree, we talk about how Mario stuffed Billy Napier in a locker and stole Will Harris as his new DB coach. Plus Miami's kicker posting videos of him nailing 75-yard field goals will likely come back to bite him (and possibly us). And we close out the show as always with a fun round of Five Questions - which include the weirdest thing we've seen at an airport, the most inappropriate thing we overheard at work, the perks of being ugly, and the next thing AI will take over and improve.
