The Browns caught nearly everyone off guard when they pivoted and chose Jameis Winston over Joe Flacco as their backup quarterback this season. Winston joins the Browns after being the backup in New Orleans.

Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe dig into the Browns decision and how it ended up with Winston as the guy to back up Deshaun Watson.

They discuss what they believe went into the decision and what prompted the Browns to make this decision. Is it a better scheme fit than Flacco?

They also talk about whether the Browns considered the reaction if Watson struggled with Flacco sitting on the bench -- and if they should have.

The Browns will embark on another free agency period under GM Andrew Berry next week and there are going to be opportunities to upgrade. Mary Kay Cabot wrote about what to expect from the Browns in free agency on Tuesday and we discussed it on the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast.

We started with receivers and touched on some names we haven't talked about much this offseason, going over some of our favorites for them to sign this offseason, including one who could become available and is very familiar with Deshaun Watson.

They also discuss the move at edge rusher and what they can do to find the right player to pair with Myles Garrett.

The Browns signed Deshaun Watson to a 5-year, $230 million contract after acquiring him in a trade in 2022. We're two years into the deal and Watson has played 12 games and the Browns have played in, and lost, a single playoff game.

It's safe to say things haven't exactly worked out.

How should we view the Watson contract now with three years left and as many questions remaining now as there were two offseasons ago? Can he ever live up to it and can the Browns still make this work if he doesn't?
