    One Vision

One Vision podcast co-hosted by Theodora Lau, Arunkumar Krishnakumar, and Maxson J.Y. Tee, brings purposeful innovation to spotlight.

It is where impact meets innovation. One Vision is a convergence of minds that dream of a sustainable world for future generations galvanized by innovation.

We speak to startup founders, investors, industry players, thought leaders and policy makers in the innovation ecosystem and get their views. While there have been a lot discussed about innovation in the western world, we believe that impact at scale can be achieved in the emerging markets too. In recent times we have seen several leap frog moments across the emerging world. What Alibaba and Tencent have achieved in China, PayTM in India and MPesa in Africa are great examples of impactful stories. We talk to many emerging market players and highlight their efforts to create such leap frog moments.

We believe there are many innovation stories that have impact on people’s life across the world. We identify these stories and talk to them about their journeys, successes and challenges they have had to overcome. In providing a stage for these entrepreneurs, thought leaders and innovators, we hope to inspire a generation looking to effect positive change. One Vision, One Dream, One Voice for One sustainable future.

    Show notes

Voice of Change Jan 12, 2021
    Show notes

We are all familiar with the systemic racism in our society and its long lasting generational impacts. In a recent report by Brookings, it was revealed that the "400 richest billionaires have more total wealth than ALL 10 million Black American households."

To encourage a more diverse and inclusive community, we must create different pathways to technology. As the past nine months have demonstrated, digital technology has untethered opportunities from physical locations — the coastal cities and innovation capitals — enabling us to engage with talent from all walks of life and all around the world.

Join Theo and Bradley for an inspirational episode with Dr Sue Black and Dr Simon Schofield, as we talk about diversity in tech, AI, and their latest endeavour, TechUp Women.

Future of finance is open source Jan 05, 2021
    Show notes

While there is no lack of challenger banks disrupting the digital banking space for consumers, what about the needs for marketplaces? Can we make sending, receiving, and storing money much simpler than it is today?

Who would aspire to be the most boring company in fintech? For a fintech company that has just raised a $27 million round led by a16z, Moov is anything but boring. Tune in to our latest episode of One Vision as Theo and Bradley chat with Wade Arnold and Walt Cox from Moov.

    A dumpster fire year Dec 22, 2020
    Show notes

It will be hard to find one word or even one phrase to describe 2020. For many, it was a year of broken dreams and hardship. A global pandemic, coupled with a racial reckoning, leaving many of us feeling lost and exhausted. But within the moments of the bad and ugly, there were good. The experiences that we share have brought many of us closer together, and made us realize that we share much in common, that there are fights worth fighting for.

In this new episode of One Vision, Arun, Bradley, and Theo talked about the year that was 2020, what they are grateful for, and what they look forward to.

Thank you for being part of our journey this year. We wish you a safe and wonderful holiday season.

Bringing Sexy Back (Yeah) Dec 15, 2020
    Show notes

We all start getting older the minute we are born. Yet, somehow, magically, after a moment of arbitrary time, getting older ceases to be sexy. Worse, our society associates this with decline — and treats ageing as a disease needing to be cured.

Is this negative attitude and bias towards age driven by our culture? In this day, how do we leverage technology to change our perception of ageing, and truly embrace age as but a number? In this episode of One Vision, Theo and Bradley chat with Dr. Chaiwoo Lee and Dr. Julie Miller, from MIT Age Lab, on how to drive meaningful behavioural changes using technology and think about ageing in new and more hopeful ways.

We are here but to serve Dec 08, 2020
    Show notes

In an industry where fees play a large part in one’s business models, is it possible for banks to make money off of customer success rather than unfortunate circumstances? Where we are enabling access to financial products, how do we use data to help customers do so responsibly?

In this episode of One Vision, Theo and Bradley chat with Curt Queyrouze, President of TAB Bank, a passionate believer in equality, and whose philosophy is uniquely human. This conversation will warm your heart. We promise

Starling is my darling Nov 24, 2020
    Show notes

What a month it is in the land of FinTech. Starling Bank became the first retail challenger bank to turn a profit. WhatsApp finally received approval to launch in India. Barclays and Amazon formed a new partnership and Google Pay re-launching and adding Plex bank accounts with Citi, Stanford FCU, and a dozen others — there is never a dull moment. But when the dust settles, what are you most excited about? And what are you most grateful for?

Tune in for a new episode of One Vision with Arun, Bradley, and Theo as they continue to reflect on the year that is 2020.

    Beyond Good Nov 17, 2020
    Show notes

To achieve global financial inclusion, we must work together to help our communities thrive. We must be more aware of the plight of those living very different lives, just as we must strive to empathize with the lives of those living within our own communities — often just miles away, tucked behind often invisible cultural barriers, born into very different circumstances than our own. Inclusivity doesn't require creativity; it requires empathy. Join Bradley and Theo in this episode of One Vision as they unveil their new book: Beyond Good.

The future of work is 1099 Nov 10, 2020
    Show notes

Thanks to the rapid growth of gig economy platforms such as Lyft, TaskRabbit, Uber Eats, and Deliveroo, the way we earn a living has changed quite dramatically these past ten years. While this might be labeled with the endearing term, the future of work, touting flexibility as the primary benefit for adopting contingency work, many gig workers are simply overworked and underpaid.

In this episode of One Vision, Theo and Bradley chat with Hantz Fevry, co-founder of Stoovo, on why the current class of neobank apps is not enough to meet the needs of this growing demographic of workers, and what more can be done.

    Show notes

What does it take to build an ethical AI that enables humankind to use technology for good - instead of exacerbating the systemic inequalities in our society? What are the key considerations and pitfalls? Who owns the data? Whose rules and standards do we abide by? Who gets a seat at the table?

In this episode of One Vision, Theo and Bradley chat with Uday Akkaraju, CEO of Bond.AI, a human-centered artificial intelligence platform for banks. The trio explore the challenges around data collection and human bias, and the Fintech innovation ecosystem in Little Rock, Arkansas.
