A New Way Of Educating - with Grace Jolley Aug 16, 2021

Is our education system failing our children? That's the question this week, as Ellie is on a mission with Grace Jolley, who believes that the system does not work for children.

Grace discusses the reasons behind her decision to quit her job as a teacher in order to found her own education programme, and why a fresh outlook on child-led learning is needed.

As it stands, education is set upon instilling the principle that maths, english and science are the subjects that must be embraced and developed, without taking into account the child's individual needs, or considering the path that they wish to walk in life.
OFSTED's regulations and systems are not focussed upon children, but take a far more administrative, standardised approach to teach itself. It seems to be far more concerned with ticking boxes than inspiring generations.
In the current education system, there seems to be a hierarchy in terms of subjects, with the arts squarely towards the bottom of the list. We must provide a rounded education course, with no negative connotations when it comes to the pursuits they are drawn to. This will build confidence and allow their creative minds to flourish and develop.

Ellie talks to Jack about his sporting career, the pressures of a sporting career and how the sometimes hidden pains of great success can weigh heavily upon mental health and wellbeing, and his work since with Champion Health UK, where he holds the position of Head Of Performance.
