It's a busy day as Josh is back from vacation and Carey and Eddie spent the afternoon at the OU coaches luncheon where Brent Venables, Ben Arbuckle and Todd Bates talked some OU football to raise money for Fostering Futures. Ben Arbuckle got to talk about his receivers and the offensive line while there was plenty of praise for some key defenders by Brent Venables and Todd Bates. We also had some breaking news mid-pod as Donald Trump announced an executive order for NIL. And Josh was back from vacation to catch us up on the latest in recruiting.

Brace yourselves Sooner fans. There is a member of the Scoop crew who is high on the hopium after SEC Media Days. We take a look back at what we learned from OU's trip to Atlanta for talking season. And we learned that a lot of national media is high on the Sooners heading into 2025. Granted, hearts have been broken around here and we're coming off one of the worst seasons in recent OU history. But are the national people seeing something we're just not allowing ourselves to see? John Mateer was definitely one of the biggest stars in Atlanta. We've catch up on recruiting with Josh and find out what's left the rest of the way. Is OU trying to crack open some opportunities with players already looking elsewhere? U40: Things are changing inside the OU athletics department Jul 09, 2025

Carey, Eddie and George reconvene after a long week of surprises and press conferences. And we're diving head first into what we feel is going to happen inside the OU athletics department. Football is a beast of it's own, but there were a lot of other coaches at Joe Castiglione's retirement press conference that are left wondering where they stand in the new world order without Castiglione at the helm. We talk about the power structure of OU's athletics department moving forward. What does OU need that they don't have? Do they know what they need? Or is that for the next AD to decide. And where with this new AD come from? Intercollegiate athletics, or from the outside world, like business or marketing?

A big takeaway from George's upcoming John Mateer series Jul 02, 2025

We're back for another episode as the Thunder euphoria has died down. You're welcome Mavs fans who also listen. It's July so we're hanging on and hoping for a quick return of football. Today we caught up with George on his visit with John Mateer as he's ready to run an extensive series on OU's QB after talking to Mateer, family members, former coaches, analysts, everybody. We're not giving away anything, but we have seen the nearly hour long transcript and George has previewed some of the quotes for us. And we have one big takeaway about John Mateer. U40: Did a red hot John Mateer help land Bowe Bentley? Jun 25, 2025

It may not have been something that was aesthetically pleasing to us, but the Jaden O' Neal/Bowe Bentley worked out as we believe Ben Arbuckle wanted. We are left to wonder, how much did John Mateer play a role in swinging Bentley to OU over LSU? A Fong Bomb that caught everyone's attention. We finally make Eddie happy and get into the Thunder parade discussion as Carey, Eddie and George all were in OKC for the big event. And that is the decommitment of Will Conroy who flips to North Carolina. We also talk some Elite 11 and what performing well at the Elite 11 has meant over the years. U40: Today's Bowe Bentley thoughts. SEC schedule announced Jun 11, 2025

The crew is back as we have some offseason news to talk about. OU continues building better infrastructure to operate in the modern era of college football. Jim Nagy officially announces his staff and OU adds to their sports medicine staff. We also give you the latest we're hearing on Bowe Bentley as the Celina, Texas, QB could make his decision between OU and LSU any day now. We're also getting set for another round of Brent Venables football camps on Thursday and Friday. Josh talks about the guys who could be coming in to workout for the staff. A little offseason football talk with the SEC schedule coming out today and OU knows where and when they are headed. Also no one believes Carey's car is clean when he proclaims it so during the pod. Eddie rushes out to check the parking lot to catch him in a lie?

U40: Stickball is somehow over. Time for summer camp season Jun 04, 2025

It's almost impossible to believe. The OU softball season and baseball season have come to an end. Really within hours of each other. But that doesn't mean it wasn't a productive year for the softball team and this team took an entirely new roster back to the WCWS and was just a run away from being back in the championship series. Baseball might have had some more issues. And they didn't make it past the regional round. We discuss what's next for both. We're fired up for the Thunder being in the NBA Finals, so forgive us a little Finals matchup talk. And Josh is heading back to Oklahoma for another big summer camp tomorrow. Oh yeah, Bowe Bentley is visiting this weekend as well and then we have another huge week of summer camps after that one.

It's the upside down world on the Unofficial 40 as Josh McCuistion is here in studio during his Oklahoma spring football tour and George Stoia is in Florida at the SEC Meetings. We catch up with George on everything that's been going down in Florida as he's had a chance to speak with Brent Venables on multiple occasions. George is back from wedding vacation, baseball and softball are in full swing and recruiting is getting ready to take the stage as Josh heads to Oklahoma next week for a full tour of the best talent in the Sooner state. The Sooners are actually in the running for a legitimate high school tight end and they've made a new offer to a 2026 running back. We've got some football talk regarding impact players for 2025, but we've also got the latest on how to make more money because George thinks we're leaving a lot of money on the table.
