Friday afternoon Baker Mayfield held his inaugural No Bogeys with Baker & Emily Mayfield charity event at Top Golf in OKC to benefit Meals on Wheels in Norman. Carey, Eddie and George were in attendance and we had a chance to talk with Blake Bell, Orlando Brown, Grant Calcaterra and Baker Mayfield. The event was sponsored by Riverwind Casino and SoonerScoop.com served as the media sponsor. The interviews were uncut and unedited and do include some language. But it was a great afternoon for a great cause and some of the best interviews we've ever done at SoonerScoop, including a retelling of the Baker Mayfield suspension and Orlando Brown carrying out Baker's "jersey" for the coin toss against West Virginia. It was a great day to celebrate Kyler Murray as well as we got plenty of thoughts from former players about Kyler's big day tomorrow.

The entire game is here to breakdown the latest from spring practices and to preview the spring scrimmage this weekend. A couple of Sooners have hit the transfer portal. Could we see anymore? Josh is on vacation this week sailing around some foreign country for his anniversary and Bob is taking care of the wife post surgery so Carey, Eddie and George steal all the air-time this week to talk about the latest from spring football camp. We breakdown what we learned on Monday previewing the defensive line and receivers. We also go over some standouts from camp and our continued impressions of the roster as we continue to receive long viewing sessions thanks to Brent Venables. Todd Bates had a lot to say about his defensive line and Andrel Anthony has become a media favorites as well. We also get George's take on NIL and we breakdown the recent article from the OU Daily on Norman City Council members traveling to SEC venues for football games. It's been a fun and busy time as softball had a very entertaining series against the Longhorns. But it's spring football madness as we've now had three extended viewing sessions so far. This week we took a hard look at the linebackers after focusing on the running backs earlier. We had a surprise injury in Jovantae Barnes as he was rolling around on a scooter. It was interesting to see how Venables has injured players show up fully suited up to practices. We want to find out more about that quirk. Is Marcus Major deserving of being the No. 1 RB with his injury history? And what kind of coach and recruiter is Murray developing into? Justin Harrington and Dasan McCullough talk. Defensive end talk takes up a big portion of our spring practice discussions as well. Of course we've got you covered on the recruiting side of things and we had to dive into Eddie's football career after Sam Bradford's tales of his greatness. And we have a major announcement regarding the status of Eddie Radosevich's role with SoonerScoop.

Eddie took the captain's seat in today's Unofficial 40 as Carey was out with the Covid, although Eddie says it doesn't exist. Eddie, Bob and George dive into spring practices as we're squarely in the middle of it all. The guys give their impressions of what they've seen after two viewing sessions of practices. The tight end room is just a little sparse in practices. Josh is here also to talk about the big recruiting weekend that was last weekend. Future Freaks! Pro Day is coming up Thursday and the guys breakdown what we can expect to come out of OU's own combine for NFL decision makers. And we talk about the prospects for OU's draft entrees.

It's been a long week already with wall-to-wall spring football, but that means you have tons of fresh information from us to digest on this week's episode of the Unofficial 40. We give you our first impressions of the first spring practice where we had 45+ minutes of viewing goodness. Carey, Josh, Eddie, Bob and George all weigh in on the first day of practices as well as Brent Venables first spring press conference. We also talk about all the additions from the transfer portal and what the portal means going forward at OU. Josh gets us up to speed on a big recruiting weekend coming up and a lot of the biggest recruits in the country will be in town, especially in the 2025 class. We also catch up with the latest in the stick and ball sports. A little bit of drama for softball as former OU punter Michael Turk tweets and deletes some criticism toward Patty Gasso? The baseball team isn't very good at midweek games but we'll give them a pass after taking two of three from TCU.

U40: Putting out fires, burying hoops and getting ready for spring football Mar 15, 2023

It was a packed office today as everyone chimed in on the pod. We talked about the big fire near Campus Corner that Eddie had a direct role in putting out. Half the staff was asleep last night when the Sooners got a 2025 QB commitment. But the olds are awake to talk about it now. We also put an end to the basketball season as Bob gets his chance to wrap up a season that he'd like to forget and where Porter Moser goes now. We talk about the Under Armour camp Josh and Eddie attended Sunday and we dive deep into the recruiting pool. We also find out that George is road trip compatible. And of course we talk about what we're going to be looking for in spring football next week.

U40: New facilities, a Campus Corner dust up and JR Days Mar 08, 2023

Trying a new format this week as Josh, Eddie, George and Carey are in studio and we bring on Bob to talk about his beat of men's hoops and softball. Even though it's mid-week, there has been plenty of news this week. And that's exactly how we like it. George and Carey were at the Board of Regents meeting this week where several coaches either got extensions or raises and OU added to the Athletic Department master plan by approving construction company involvement in the new football operational facility to be built east of the stadium. We talk about what we learned about facilities coming out of the BoR meeting. Basketball is in a win or go home and softball is heating up as they now have a nice win streak building. Josh gives us updates on how things went and continue to go from last weekend's junior day in Norman. And we recap the NFL Combine from the weekend. We also torture George by asking about his family, which puts Eddie on his worst behavior. It's a jam-packed edition of the Unofficial 40 this week.

U40: We welcome George Stoia to his new home Mar 01, 2023

It's a massive day at SoonerScoop.com as we welcome in George Stoia to the company. We were able to steal George away from Denver where he's been covering the Denver Broncos over the last three years. George talks about why he came back to Oklahoma and decided to join up with us in Norman. Spring football is less than a month away but the NFL Combine is taking place and several Sooners are ready to make their best impression on NFL personnel directors. We talked with George about his experiences at the combine covering the Broncos as well. Hoops is playing well after a big win on the road at Iowa State and softball regained their swagger with a beatdown of No. 1 UCLA out in California. And Josh is always here to give us the rundown on a big junior day getting ready to happen this weekend. Eddie gives an update on his continued apartment problems.

U40: Football media shows samples of character on team Feb 22, 2023

The offseason is over in a month with the start of spring football. But Brent Venables gave us the opportunity last week to visit with his freshman and transfers so we could get to know them. We got a sample of some of the character of this team. What did we think? Who stood out? Any red flags? Bob is uncomfortable because Josh went to a football camp with '25 and '26 players. You also get to hear Bob and Eddie hold their own therapy session concerning OU basketball. They deserve this after covering this team all year. We also talk about SEC scheduling while plumbers come in and out of the office trying to fix stuff. There is actually a flood in the pod room right now.
