Only 1 more pod before the season begins and the gang is all here with plenty of excitement and plenty of questions about what we're going to see out on that field when the Sooners take on Arkansas State Sept 2. After two more media sessions this week we have plenty of things to talk about. Jeff Lebby had plenty to say this week about the offense and the running back room. And we all had our takes on who the best running backs on this roster really are. Who are we kidding, we went down the entire roster for the most part. We're probably most confused by the starting cornerback spot. Everybody kind of took turns throughout the show and there was even some fighting about certain players. We also hit on another big week of commitments coming up, including the biggest, David Stone. Move over YouTube Eddie and George, it's time for the Unofficial 40 to take back center stage!

U40: Unpacking the recruiting madness, preseason camp talk Aug 16, 2023

It's a recruiting heavy edition of the Unofficial 40 this week as we finally put to rest the drama that has been OU recruiting this week. Josh breaks down everything that happened on his end and we look ahead to how the Sooners proceed. But we first start by recognizing the huge victory by our own Eddie Radosevich as tailgating is finally back on Lindsey Street. There have been some recruiting wins of late so we catch up on everything that has happened and is still happening for the Sooners. Bob Przybylo stops by for some hoops talk on a schedule release and an addition to the softball team. Carey, Josh, Eddie and George get together just before Josh heads out on vacation. We get a rundown of everything that is coming up on the recruiting trail and where things stand with some big names who are getting ready to make their decisions. Josh's vacation usually means commitments. So it's a great time to leave. With fall camp going on we've already had two media sessions and a viewing this week. The guys are here to talk about what they've seen. And we're getting in the weeds. We go so far as to talk about punters and kickers and return men. What position are we most concerned about? It's actually not on the defensive side of the ball. We took a moment to ask ourselves if we're drinking the kool-aid. Because we all think we're seeing a lot of good stuff out at practices. But we've all been hurt before. And the question around the office this week. What if one of us died? You'll find out what we mean soon.

Fall camp is almost underway as OU held a big media day Monday that lasted most of the day. The SoonerScoop staff was there to take it all in as every single OU assistant coach was made available as well as all the new transfers and freshman. We breakdown our biggest impressions from yesterday while we also hit up Josh about the latest on the recruiting front from a big week of commits and visits. Bob is here to talk about a strange media session with Porter Moser. Not the media session itself, but the odd timing of a media session. From SEC Media Days in Nashville, Tenn., Carey, Eddie and George breakdown what the last couple of days have been like as OU and Texas prepare to enter the SEC following the 2023 season. Shane Beamer and Josh Heupel were two of the coaches talking Thursday and we breakdown what the former Sooners had to say about their current teams. Where is Josh Heupel with his feelings toward Oklahoma these days? Shane Beamer seems pretty clear he still has fond feelings for the Sooners. And maybe a bit too fond as the head coach of another team. We explain. We're also joined live by On3's J.D. PicKell who talks about the Sooners in 2023 and beyond as they enter the SEC. We also noticed that complaints about the current state of NIL continue to be amplified this week in Nashville.

A lot has happened since the last podcast. Camps ended, OU had it's ChampUBBQ event, Kevin Sperry left Texas for Oklahoma and the Sooners have a couple of new commitments. Josh breaks down everything that's happened and what is getting ready to happen on the recruiting trail. It seems the first serious OU vs. USC battle is developing as well. It's getting good! Also, Carey had to leave in the middle of the pod because he had a disaster at home. Just like the disaster Bob had. It's an epidemic!
