    Show notes

Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, has directed state agencies to treat gender-affirming care for trans kids as child abuse. This is part of a national, coordinated effort to systemically harm trans youth, deprive trans people of their rights, and make hard right ideologies the law of the land. Here are some resources to learn more and also to support trans youth, organizers, and advocates in Texas:

    • Texas' Attorney General is Laying the Groundwork to Separate Trans Kids From Their Families by Melissa Gira Grant for The New Republic
    • Transgender Education Network of Texas
    • Trans Kids and Families of Texas
    • Thread of resources to make use of if you are in Texas and to support

This week we’re bringing you an episode of one of our favorite podcasts, Gee Thanks, Just Bought It, hosted by our friend (and recent guest of OILT), Caroline Moss. You already know Caroline from episode 31 of OILT but now you’ll get to know her beyond her Real Housewives scholarship. In this episode, Caroline asks us about great gifts we’ve given this year and, as a result, we go deep talking about road safety and fake foods. Subscribe to Gee Thanks, Just Bought It and follow the show on Instagram!

Reality TV feat. Caroline Moss Feb 10, 2022
    Show notes

We’ve dabbled in reality TV over the years and decided it was high time we talk about it on OILT. So, we invited our friend and Real Housewives expert Caroline Moss to talk about reality TV and how it’s changed and evolved since the early 1990s, and also to dive deep into the Real Housewives phenomenon and franchises. Caroline provides a great overview of the entire genre of reality TV, and has recommendations for the Housewives-curious who aren’t sure where to start.

Making the Yuletide Extremely Gay feat. Aubrey Gordon Dec 16, 2021
    Show notes

We are once again celebrating holiday season, this time by talking all about queer Christmas movies with our special guest Aubrey Gordon, writer and co-host of the wonderful podcast Maintenance Phase.

In addition to discussing these specific movies, we also talked about more broadly what it means to portray queer intimacy, how queer cinema has evolved over the years, the absolutely delightful weirdness of Hallmark movies, and—and we can’t stress this enough—a lot more.

We Want Your (Non-Chain-Store) Gift Recommendations! Oct 25, 2021
    Show notes

It's almost gift-guide season and this time around we want to compile ideas for holiday gift-giving that rely as little as possible on places like Amazon, Walmart, and other chain stores. So, please tell us your favorite gifts to give (and receive!) that can be bought either from the company that makes them or from independent shops and sellers. Also fair game: easy-to-make DIY gifts, recipes, and items that would be widely available at local grocery stores (like Maldon sea salt for example). We will compile the recommendations we get, add our own, and put them all into an upcoming episode.

You can email us or send us a voice memo at OhILikeThatpod@gmail.com. You can also DM us your recommendations on Twitter or Instagram. Just let us know any info you want us to share about you—name, location, pronouns, etc. If you don’t specify we’ll keep it anonymous.

Thanks for listening and sharing your faves with us!
