Episode 23 – Blithe Spirit featuring Tia Ballard Aug 13, 2021
    Show notes

    “We waxed AND vaxxed.”

Since our last in-booth guest in March of 2020, we’ve done solo shows with the occasional remote movie watch to stay safe. With both Terri and her guest being fully vaccinated, we took the opportunity to get back to the way Obscure Chatter started for our August episode!

OC was blessed with a visit from the one and only Tia Ballard!

Here are a few things Terri and Tia chat about while watching [CENSORED]:

    • Technical Difficulties and Rolling Chairs
    • “Anime brought us together.”
    • Wave, Listen to Me!
    • “You can’t let your emotional core be based around somebody else’s weakness.”
    • Hannibal, Missouri
    • “Have you ever kissed a lizard?”
    • “I miss you guys. Wait, you said questions. Uh… so I was wondering… I miss you guys?”
    • “What’s your home recording space like?”

    • One Of Few
    • “What lesson from life has stuck with you the longest, and what lesson from a show has stuck with you the longest and which has proven to be better for you?”
    • Beyond the Credits

Big thanks to all that submitted questions! If you would like to be a part of a future episode, please submit something via perpetuallyoffbeat@gmail.com (you can even remain anonymous) OR through @ObscureChatter or @TeeDotally.

    Episode 22 – Color-Coded for Your Convenience Jun 28, 2021
    Show notes

Obscure Chatter’s June episode was delayed slightly due to the insane heat that Texas’ grid is not prepared for—but that’s a whole other story that has nothing to do with this episode.

Join Terri as she watches [CENSORED] and attempts to stay cool on a Sunday afternoon.

FULL DISCLOSURE: The beginning of the episode catches Terri at the end of a vocal warm-up. Hoff decided to just keep that in.

Here are a few things that Terri goes over:

    • Moving Forward: Guests OR Solo?
    • First Double-Date in Forever
    • Demon House
    • Wave, Listen to Me! is now available on Blu-ray!
    • ZOOM
    • Becoming the Mask(less)
    • A Remote Microaggression
    • “I will literally not leave a building until the keys are between each finger.”
    • Happy Anniversary, Doty-Hoffs!
    • Lonesome Dove

    Episode 21 – Madden Into Misanthropy May 31, 2021
    Show notes

Our May episode is another one where Terri watches television rather than a movie. We’re still censoring titles, character names, etc so you can just focus on the rambling woman.

And OH, NO… Someone gave Terri beer.

Here are some things Terri covers while watching [CENSORED]:

    • 100% Vaccinated
    • AC Debacle
    • Terri can’t think of the word “transaction.”
    • Karen = Yolanda
    • Still wearing a mask
    • “What’s one seemingly insignificant thing you wish you could do over?”
    • “If I remember correctly, in an episode of That anime show, you guys gave advice to a man about to turn 20. Do you have any thoughts or advice about entering the 30’s? I turn 30 in about two weeks, and to be honest I’m a little stressed out about it.”

    Episode 20 – Horror Doesn’t Settle for Simple Tuesday Apr 25, 2021
    Show notes

April is Terri’s least favorite month because it makes her feel old(er).

    That’s right, it’s Terri’s birthday month!

It’s another solo episode (with Hoff engineering). These are typically the easiest for post-production (i.e. minimal beeps)!

Here’s are just a few things that are covered while Terri watches [CENSORED]:

    • Preparing for Death
    • “I’m sure you’ve already told me…“
    • Podcasting Is(n’t) Therapy
    • “What’s in the box—er, chest?!“
    • Mega Man
    • Last Week Tonight with John Oliver
    • “Strength is built through endurance.“
    • Same Scene; Different Experiences
    • The Fate of Future Episodes
    • Stephanie Young and Drizly (Terri said “Drizzle” in the episode)

    • Alzheimer’s Association
    • The AAPI Community Fund
    • Paralyzed Veterans of America

    Episode 19 – Cryptically Unhelpful Answer Mar 15, 2021
    Show notes
This episode is dedicated to Judy.

Terri and Stephen are back from break!

Well, Stephen stays outside the booth for the first episode of 2021. He multitasks recording the show, keeping the dog busy and getting groceries that are definitely delivered in the middle of the episode. We know this because Terri was super professional and left her phone on…

Here’s are some things Terri covers while watching [CENSORED]:

    • “The bitch that is life.“
    • Question from Nicole- So much has happened since the last episode and firstly I’d like to ask are you doing ok since the snow storm in your area? 2nd question: have you been watching any light hearted shows (anime, sitcom, cartoons) or movies you would recommend?
    • Question from Rick- What’re (in your opinion) the BEST and the WORST western remakes of Asian films you’ve seen? And why.
    • Question from Benjamin Oscar- Have you ever watched the Leprechaun horror series during this month? If so, any favorite moments or films?
    • Question from Jamstar529- Given the recent cast announcement, what aspects of your life experience have helped you prepare for ‘Wave, Listen to Me‘?
    • Question from Jean- We have these things called chicken breasts and yet chickens don’t have nipples, now why?
    • Question from Marquis- In regards to what you and many have had to endure in Texas lately, where would be other places you would like to live? (Whether for business or personal reasons.)
    • Sakura Wars The Animation
    • Adoration for Aaron Dismuke
    • Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table

    Episode 18 – Crappy Holidays Dec 25, 2020
    Show notes

It wouldn’t be December without a holiday episode, would it?

No, seriously, would it? We really don’t know.

Terri spends Christmas Eve watching [CENSORED] and trying to stay on the topic of Christmas (Past, Present and Future—Dickens Style). And the “Crappy Holidays” trope is definitely fitting for 2020’s holiday season.

Here are a few things Terri will discuss:

    • The Doty-Hoff Busy Bees
    • Reminiscing About Past & Present Gifts
    • Emotional Support Parrot
    • Angela Stidham’s GoFundMe
    • Tarrant Area Food Bank
    • Arlington Life Shelter
Obscure Chatter will return in March 2021.

    Episode 17 – Trouble Entendre Nov 16, 2020
    Show notes

In this episode, Terri is doing an episode rather than a full length movie. November’s show was put on hold until after the election, so we are very grateful for your patience and understanding!

The “Trouble Entendre” trope is specifically tied to Episode [CENSORED] of [CENSORED].

Here are just some of the things Terri covers during our shortest episode:

    • Time is… fun(?).
    • “Fictional characters are always there… and rarely disappoint you.”
    • Willow Barks
    • “It’s not just a matter of opinion.”
    • Owning up to Mistakes and Missteps
    • Doty’s Voting Experience VS Hoff’s Voting Experience
    • Wilted Salad or Rat Poison
    • Tsuki (Hana’s Mom) in Uzaki-chan Wants To Hangout!
    • “You can’t avoid the darkness.“
    • Getting Reacquainted with an Old Friend
    • Unpredictable Times
    • Aggressive Interactions
    • Hoping for a Semblance of Normalcy

If you would like to be a part of a future episode, please submit a question via perpetuallyoffbeat@gmail.com (you can even remain anonymous) OR through @ObscureChatter via Twitter.
