    Show notes

Welcome to this special episode of Connectivity, and boy what an episode it is. Last week, our own Daan Koopman organized ten separate interviews with indie developers currently working on games for both the 3DS and Wii U eShops. In each interview, Daan discusses those upcoming games as well the experiences of developing for Nintendo's digital platforms. The entire thing clocks in at just over four hours long, so below you'll find a handy tracklist with the studio and their current game so you can seek out any particular interviews that interest you first. If you have any questions for Daan, be sure to post them below. Enjoy! 1) 00:00:00 Daan's Introduction 2) 00:11:28 Henchmen Studios - Monkey Pirates 3) 00:31:22 Ludosity - Ittle Dew 4) 00:57:41 Nnooo and 3 Sprockets - Cubemen 2 5) 01:29:49 The Game Bakers - Squids Odyssey 6) 01:57:48 Rain Games - Teslagrad 7) 02:25:34 BeautiFun Games - Nihilumbra 8) 02:56:51 Paladin Studios - Momonga Pinball Adventures 9) 03:23:36 Teku Studios - Candle 10) 03:42:49 SnowCastle Games - Festival of Magic 11) 04:07:42 Nyamyam - Tengami

    Episode 98: Cross-Platform Play Aug 16, 2013
    Show notes

Welcome to this special episode of Connectivity. We are proud to announce that, starting this week, we are introducing cross-platform capabilities to our podcasts. What does this mean for you? Read on to learn more! We open this week's show with Scott, Danny, and Patrick answering some listener mail. The trio discuss the future of Mario RPG's, why Miiverse is relatively troll-free, playing 3DS games on Wii U, and what series needs to take a break for a while. While you enjoy this segment, you'll notice a new feature. Thanks to our new cross-platform infrastructure, you'll find that you can download this podcast to any of your devices. That's right! PC, Mac, iPhone, Android device; feel free to download this episode on virtually anything. Revolutionary! Next up, Alex and Justin discuss life in Animal Crossing after 100 hours. The duo discuss their immaculate towns, goals in the late-game, and where New Leaf fits amongst the others in the series. Thanks once again to our new cross-platform cloud system, you can also rest easy knowing that you are free to start this segment on one device and finish it on another (some fast forwarding may be required). How convenient! Closing out the show, Neal, J.P. and Patrick discuss the merits of the Vita and whether or not there is place for it in the homes and backpacks of fervent 3DS owners. The guys go in-depth with the Vita's hardware and software, so if you've been curious about it, this is the segment for you. Unfortunately, we haven't worked out all the kinks with our cross-platform system, so this segment inexplicably might not run on newer devices, despite being available on their progenitors for years. Hey, we aren't perfect here! Be sure to send your listener mail to Connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. We love hearing from you guys, so keep it coming! 98 episodes in the can, how wild. Wonder what we'll do for 100...

Episode 97: Just Shut Up Aug 09, 2013
    Show notes

We have a heck of a show for you this week, and unlike plenty of upcoming games, it's available right now, no matter where you live! Kicking things off, Neal, Scott and Justin discuss to the two major Nintendo releases of the past week: Pikmin 3 and Mario and Luigi: Dream Team. While the trio has mostly nothing but adoration for the pluckable plants, Dream Team doesn't fare quite so well. If you're on the fence about either, this segment should help you make up your mind! After that, Carmine joins Dave, Julia, and Josh to break down the latest videos in the Tropes Vs. Women series. Despite some controversy and vitriol from both supporters and detractors of the series, the group takes an evenhanded approach in discussing the overall themes and their implications for gaming as a whole. Next up, Scott and Neal host a new, recurring segment called "This Week in Nintendo," which is focused on covering the latest eShop and Virtual Console releases as well as discussing any important news from that week. In the first installment, the duo go over a rather pedestrian Nintendo Direct before discussing this week's digital releases, including Spin the Bottle and SteamWorld Dig. Speaking of SteamWorld Dig, the final segment for episode 97 features Daan's interview with Image and Form CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson, the studio behind the surprisingly great new title. Brjann discusses the game as well as the future of the SteamWorld universe. As always, you can send your listener mail to Connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. We've gotten a handful of good e-mails this week, and will probably start reading them on air next week. So if you have a good question or topic you're sitting on, send it our way! See you next week.

Episode 96: Guys in Tiny Body Suits Aug 03, 2013
    Show notes

Greetings foolish mortals, and welcome to episode 96 of Nintendo World Report's Connectivity podcast. On this week's episode, we have two delightful segments for your enjoyment. First up is a good 'ole fashioned eShop Round-Up. Neal, Justin, James, and 'Trick circle the wagons and talk about some downloadable video game goodness. After that, we have a real treat for you. Daan has interviewed Lau Krosgaard from KnapNok Games, developers of Spin the Bottle: Bumpie's Party for the Wii U. I keep imploring, yet you keep ignoring. You know what I'm talking about. It's that listener mail you still have yet to send us. Polish up your final draft and shoot it to us at connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. And when you're done with that, run along and rate and review the show on iTunes.

    Episode 95: Mother Mother Jul 27, 2013
    Show notes

You may have heard rumors of a game called "EarthBound" finally being available on virtual console. Apparently it's a big deal, and it's informed this week's entire episode. In our first segment, Alex, Nick, and J.P. discuss the pricing structure on digital games on Nintendo platforms. Is it fair that EarthBound costs two extra bucks? We will answer that, and other difficult questions. Our second segment is a classic: What We've Been Playing. This time around, Andy, Scott, Mike, and 'Trick talk mostly about EarthBound and Animal Crossing but a few other games as well. Our mailbag is pretty empty, and we could really use more questions from you. Please send them to us at connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. And if you have a moment, please rate and review the show on iTunes.

Episode 94: My Two Dads Jul 20, 2013
    Show notes

Hey there kids, do you like candy? Well I've got some candy right here for you... ear candy, in podcast form for your enjoyment. In our first delicious segment, Patrick sits down with Daan, who just finished Pikmin 3. You'll get the lowdown on Miyamoto's latest garden strategy simulator. Secondly, Alex and Dave break down the New Super Mario Bros. series in detail. What's the best game in the series? Has it gotten stale? Will there ever be good music? And finally, Neal, Scott, and Andy discuss gaming with kids. It's something us older folks find fascinating, probably because we're old. Don't forget to send your listener mail to us at connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. And if you've got a moment, please rate and the review show on iTunes.

Episode 93: The Dream Team Jul 13, 2013
    Show notes

We're back and rested from our light break during the Fourth of July, and do we have a show for you this week! Opening things up, Scott, Zach, and the other Zack sit down to talk about their favorite games of 2013 to this point. This is an extension of our site-wide feature that was published last week, so if you haven't checked out the overall NWR staff vote, you should do that! Be sure to tell us what your Game of the Year has been so far, too! After that, Daan is joined by Dave and Julia, and the trio talks about Mario and Luigi Dream Team. Daan has played the game to completion and just posted his review earlier this week. Dave and Julia pick his brain about the upcoming RPG with virtually no spoilers at all. Closing the show, Neal and Justin return for more Shin Megami Tensei talk, fused this week with Alex and special guest Patrick McNulty. The group, must of whom have beaten the game, breakdown its mechanics as well as compare it to both other entries in the long-running series as well other RPGs altogether. If you are on the fence about Shin Megami Tensei IV, this segment will tell you all you need to know! As always, you can send your listener mail to Connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. If you have questions about Dream Team or SMT IV, or want to share your favorite games of 2013, do so below! We'll see you next week.

    Episode 92: JRPG4EVER Jul 06, 2013
    Show notes

This week's show, albeit a little shorter thanks to the Fourth of July, is packed with all the JRPG info you could ever need. First, Zach and Scott rave about the insane Project X Zone, a tactical RPG featuring characters from Namco, Capcom, and Sega franchises. After that, Neal and Justin offer their thoughts about the first few hours of Shin Megami Tensei IV, a game both of them have been playing. As always, you can send your listener mail to Connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. Enjoy this week's holiday-sized episode, and we'll be back next week with another full show!

    Episode 91: New Super Connectivity U Jun 29, 2013
    Show notes

Thank you for your interest in downloading episode 91 of Connectivity! Before downloading, please first download the update for episode 90, then come back and try again. Kicking off this week's show, Alex and Scott go in-depth with New Super Luigi U. Should you pick up the surprisingly challenging expansion pack? We think so! After that, conversation turns to other Nintendo franchises that could utilize DLC in the future. How about Pokémon microtransactions or new weekly Zelda dungeons? In the second half of the show, Neal, Andy, and Nicholas break down the recent Game Gear releases on the 3DS Virtual Console. Which of as many as 13 Sonic games deserves your attention? Find out here! As usual, you can send your listener mail to Connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. What's your dream DLC for a Nintendo series? Or do you dislike DLC in general? Let us know!

    Episode 90: A Little More Didactic Jun 22, 2013
    Show notes

E3 is over and we're back in action here on Connectivity. This week's episode is positively bursting with content, so prepare your damn ears. Scott and Mike couldn't make it to E3, so in our first segment they drill Neal with all of their questions about the games on show this year. What was good? What was bad? Neal knows all, and spills his guts. After that, Neal and Scott discuss Game and Wario. Spoiler: they don't like it, and would rather play Pokémon Snap. In our last segment, Daan and Justin break down all the new Streetpass games that just came out in Japan and Europe. Sorry, America, you get to stare across the playground in jealously. Hey, please send us some listener mail. I swear we'll answer it! You can send it in to connectivity@nintendoworldreport.com. And if you have a moment, please rate and review the show on iTunes.
