Hi! Amanda here. I wanted to do a little deeper dive into sustainable quilting and what that can look like in my life. There are varying degrees to which we all try to do our part (think recycling, reusing plastic bags, etc.) and I think that approach can work for quilting too. In this episode, meet Brooke Stambersky, owner of Brooke’s Bitchin’ Stitches. She began her quilting journey about 6 years ago. She has always been a creative and crafty lady, and when she finds a new craft, she dives right in! Quilting was no exception and she fell in love at first stitch. Over the past year, Brooke has launched her new quilt pattern design company and website, Brooke's Bitchin' Stitches, where she is currently working on a quilt pattern series entitled, Home. This Home pattern series allows quilters to create the United States, state by state, using fabric. These patterns are a wonderful way for quilters to use their fabric stash and be an artist with fabric. Each pattern focuses on a specific state within the US and features mini quilt designs. Brooke and Amanda chat about their experiences with crafting and quilting. They share a kindred spirit and find joy in the process of designing and creating beautiful things. Please enjoy!

In this episode, Amanda chats with vintage quilter, Jessie Eblen. Jessie started SouthernChick Quilts in 2019, and loves to work with vintage pieces, helping to repair them for longer term use and preservation. Jessie learned to quilt the "old fashioned way" and has only recently given in to owning a sewing machine. Her love of hand-crafting goes so far as to have something with her at all times. If her southern charm doesn't get you hooked, then her insight into repairing quilts will. Cozy up and enjoy!

In this episode, Amanda talks to Astrid of Apples & Beavers. Astrid is a pattern designer in Canada and has recently released some adorably fun patterns. They chat about everything from being their own bosses to embracing the challenges of parenting. Astrid was born and raised in Germany but moved to Canada as an adult. It was then that she started seeing quilts in abundance and started falling in love with them. As most small business goes, a passion hobby turned into something more for Astrid.

On this episode, Amanda talks with Molly, a brand new quilter! Abe (Amanda's husband) is classmates with Molly and introduced her to Amanda. Molly graciously agreed to be on the show so they could chat about her experience of making her first quilt. Amanda has a soft spot for young (or not!) new quilters because of the importance of getting more people interested in the craft.
