Check It Out: Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Jun 19, 2025

Show notes

"Check It Out" is our catch-all title for non-SNL topics that we discuss periodically. Movies, TV, music...it's all under that umbrella.

We published this immediately after it premiered on our Patreon, but we are sharing it now here on the free feed. We go deep on our thoughts on the final (?) installment of this long-running franchise. After a brief break, we'll be back soon producing episodes over there (with a new, cheaper entry level for new subscribers) on a more regular basis throughout the summer. "Check It Out" will be the umbrella under which we talk about lots of things between now and the start of SNL S51 later this year.

Enjoy!

Saturday Night Live, Season 50 Episode 20: Scarlett Johansson May 18, 2025

Show notes

We have reached the end of our season-long coverage! Thanks to all that have taken this season long journey with us.

But fear not: We will be posting content throughout the summer on our Patreon. Those episodes may or may not not make it to this feed before the start of Season 51, but if you want the latest and greatest you should definitely consider signing up. We have a single $5 tier for those that are interested.

Check It Out: Andor, Season 2, Episodes 10-12 May 15, 2025

Show notes

"Check It Out" is our catch-all title for non-SNL topics that we discuss periodically. Movies, TV, music...it's all under that umbrella.

In this one, we go deep on the final three episodes of this fairly stunning series for nearly an entire hour of analysis. We released this to our Patreon subscribers yesterday, but making it available for all of you now.

If you seek content like this earlier, join the others that have already subscribed to our Patreon! In the meantime, we will continue to drop SNL episodic recaps here the day after each episode airs and Patreon content on a staggered schedule.

Saturday Night Live: Season 50, Episode 19: Walton Goggins May 11, 2025

Show notes

Ryan and Mike are back with a look at the second-to-last episode of the season. This was a strong, silly episode that among other things showed that SNL has finally cracked how to cover the current President after almost a decade.

Also, Ryan gets approximately 35 names wrong in this episode, so enjoy the journey.

If you seek additional entertainment, join the others that have already subscribed to our Patreon! We will be dropping reviews of the final six episodes of ANDOR over there this week, and will be continually posting content there after the SNL season ends.

Show notes

As promised, Ryan and Mike are covering each 3-episode installment of the fantastic STAR WARS show ANDOR over the next four weeks.

"Check It Out" is our name for episodes that don't directly cover episodes of Saturday Night Live, and serves a sub-series within the feed.

We released this installment last week on our Patreon, but are releasing it here each week the day before the new batch of episodes drops.

If you want to hear these first, be sure to sign up for our $5/month Patreon!

Saturday Night Live, Season 50 Episode 16: Jack Black Apr 08, 2025

Show notes

Ryan and Mike are back, belatedly, with a review of this week's episode. We had announced the delay, but we apologize all the same!

In this episode: thoughts on a wild crowd, Jack Black's energy, and we finally learn how many days a week Billy Zane is actually Billy Zane. (That's not related to the episode but it's a fact you'll learn anyway.)

Saturday Night Live, Season 50 Episode 15: Mikey Madison Mar 30, 2025

Show notes

Ryan and Mike are back along with the show in its second-to-last batch of episodes. We look at the surprising sidelining of this week's host, the increasingly high profile of Marcello Hernandez, and the proper technique for avoiding lines at events.

We currently have a single, $5/month tier for now. The plan is to create 2-4 additional podcasts per month over there, provided there's enough audience for the upper end of that spectrum. Thanks to all that have already joined!
