    Episode 66 - Warcraft Sep 14, 2021
    Show notes

What’s up, Bomb Squad! Welcome back to Not A Bomb, the podcast where we reexamine films that bombed at the box office and were panned by critics. This week, Troy and Brad discuss the most successful video game movie of all time - Warcraft. Directed by the supreme talent, Duncan Jones, Warcraft follows the battle between Orcs and humans in Middle Earth….errr, Azeroth. Admittedly, the gang knows very little about the source material which makes them perfect for this film discussion. Listen as Brad admits to being Orcist and Troy lays the smackdown on Harry Potter. Yes, even the boy wizard isn’t safe from Not A Bomb this week. Can this film survive one of the worst first acts of any movie and the inevitable comparison to Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit? Warcraft is directed by Duncan Jones and stars Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Ben Schnetzer, Robert Kazinsky, Clancy Brown, and Daniel Wu. Episode 65 - Mortal Kombat (1995) and Mortal Kombat Annihilation Sep 07, 2021
    Show notes

GET OVER HERE!!! MORTAL KOMBAT!!!! That’s right! On this very special episode of Not A Bomb, Troy and Brad give you two bombs for the price of one. First, the gang rides a mysterious boat to an island for a fighting tournament and discusses 1995’s Mortal Kombat. This movie has it all! You’ll get to see Johnny Cage crotch punch a $1M animatronic character, our heroes fight a CGI reptile from the 90’s, some guy named Art Lean punches his way to the semi-finals, and Christopher freaking Lambert play Lord Exposition…..we mean Lord Raiden. Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, Mortal Kombat is considered one of the better video game movies and was a financial success. Sadly, the critics hated it which is why it’s on a podcast called Not A Bomb. Listen as Brad and Troy rain infinite praise upon this film. If one Mortal Kombat movie wasn’t enough, the boys decide to suffer through Mortal Kombat Annihilation. The 1997 sequel takes all that is great about the first film and completely destroys it. This movie sucks and is pretty much unwatchable. Hear Troy and Brad ponder Shao Kahn’s family issues, CGI dragons, and reject village people. Episode 64 - The Outlaw (2017) Aug 31, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This week is all about Korean film appreciation and a long discussion about 2017’s action/thriller/comedy - The Outlaws. To assist with this massive episode, Troy and Brad welcome back not one but two returning guests - Nathan and John. SPOILER!!! This film is totally not a bomb! The Outlaws was a huge success in Korea, but Troy and Brad wanted to introduce the movie to their audience so they are playing fast and loose with the Not A Bomb rulebook. The gang starts the show discussing what Korean films they would pick to introduce someone to the genre (get your notebooks out because their are a lot of great recommendations). The guys also spend a lot of time gushing over Don Lee, the star of The Outlaws. Don is mostly known for his role in 2016’s Train to Busan but he will also be starring in the upcoming Marvel film - Eternals. He is a true force of nature in this film and one of the most charismatic actors working in the movie industry. Lastly, a really bad Steven Seagal impression makes its debut, which Brad fully apologizes for in advance! The Outlaws is directed by Kang Yoon-sung and stars Ma Dong-seok (Don Lee) and Yoon Kye-sang. If you want to leave feedback or suggest a movie bomb, please drop us a line at NotABombPod@gmail.com. Episode 63 - Treasure Planet Aug 24, 2021
    Show notes

Ahoy, Matey! Welcome back to another exciting episode of Not a Bomb podcast. On this episode, the gang is once again discussing a sci-fi/animated film, this time in the form of space pirates - Treasure Planet. The film would mark the third time Disney adapted the Robert Louis Stevenson novel, Treasure Island ,and is known as one of the biggest bombs in the mouse’s history. With a colossal budget of $140,000,000, Treasure Planet is the most expensive hand-drawn animated film of all time. Treasure Planet was created by the powerhouse team of Musker and Clements, who created such films as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules. Of course, all of those films were major successes for Disney. However, when Treasure Planet was released, there was stiff competition from a boy wizard, a British spy, and Tim Allen in a fat suit. Treasure Planet is directed by Ron Clements and John Musker and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Brian Murray, Emma Thompson, David Hype Pierce, Michael Wincott, Laurie Metcalf, Martin Short, Roscoe Lee Browne, and Patrick McGoohan.
