Underworld (2003) - EP 419
Spooktober continues, Normies! This week, we're trading our zombie outbreaks for an ancient blood feud as we sink our teeth into the leather-clad, blue-tinted world of Underworld (2003)! That's right, it's vampires versus werewolves, and apparently the only way to settle a centuries-old supernatural conflict is with automatic weapons, trench coats, and an absolutely unreasonable amount of hair gel!
Join your hosts as they follow Kate Beckinsale's Selene, a vampire Death Dealer caught in the middle of a war between bloodsuckers and Lycans, only to discover that everything she knows about the conflict might be a lie. Directed by Len Wiseman, this gothic action-horror hit helped define the early 2000s supernatural aesthetic and launched a franchise that refused to stay dead. But does this stylish monster mash still have bite, or is it just The Matrix with fangs?
From Bill Nighy's delightfully dramatic Viktor to Michael Sheen's surprisingly sympathetic werewolf revolutionary, we're breaking down the mythology, the monster transformations, the industrial soundtrack, and the seemingly endless supply of black leather. Plus, we're asking the important questions: Why do vampires need so many guns? Who thought ultraviolet bullets were a good idea? And can we finally admit the werewolves might have a point?
The war has begun, Normies! So sharpen your fangs, load your silver bullets, and pick a side, because we're going underground to uncover the secrets of Underworld on Normies Like Us!
