Psycho (1998) - Bad Remakes Sep 17, 2026

Show notes

Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon as they tailgate the Halloween season by handpicking their favourite prompts from this year's #31DayHorrorChallenge! Last week, we kicked things off with our discussion on RAD Remakes, and today we dive headfirst into the world of BAD Remakes, beginning with Gus Van Sant's Psycho (1998), the "shot-for-shot" remake of Alfred Hitchcock's beloved Psycho (1960).

Psycho (1998) is a bizarre experiment in filmmaking (a failed experiment depending on who you ask) and a prime example of a film that the world considers a BAD Remake. But does Psycho (1998) deserve reevaluation Redemption, even?? Laugh along as we break down the merits and misguided choices of this incredibly weird attempt to make lightning strike in the same place twice, and head on over to the Nightmare on Film Street Fiend Club to hear Part II of this week's episode, where we share our list of Bad Remakes in need of Redemption. Nightmare on Film Street returns and we're diving straight into our favourite annual Halloween tradition, the #31DayHorrorChallenge. Join your Horror Hosts Kimmi & Jon as they revisit The Ring (2002), our choice for Day 1 of the challenge, and a movie that despite traumatizing an entoer generation is somehow only rated PG-13...

And join us over in the Fiend Club for Part II of our Rad Remake discussion where we debate what are the raddest remakes of all time, and how Gore Verbinski's The Ring (2002) stacks up against remake royalty like John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) and David Cronenberg's The Fly (1986).

Friday The 13th (2009) - Midnight at Camp Blood Aug 28, 2026

Show notes

Join your horror hosts Jon & Kim as they starch their camp counselor uniforms and sit around the fire for the last time. Seeing us out the woods this week is the 2009 remake Friday The 13th from Marcus Nispel, director of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003). It's a decidedly different killer roaming this familiar campground, but motivations and machetes aside, he's still the same boy you love to fear. His name was Jason...

Jason X (2001) - Midnight at Camp Blood Aug 14, 2026

Show notes

As we all know, every horror franchise's best sequel is the one that goes to space. It's a scientific fact. And while there is zero scientific accuracy in this movie, we're confident absolutely no one will disagree when we say that Jason X (2001) is the greatest Friday The 13th movie ever made :P

Join your horror hosts Kim & Jon as they journey beyond the stars and celebrate the majesty and wonder of a movie that turns Jason Voorhees into an undead cyborg on a University field trip through space with a karate-chopping, gun-wielding robot lady.

And hey, love it or hate it, we can all agree that Adrienne's liquid nitrogen death is one of the all-time greatest kills of the entire franchise. Join ussssss...

Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (1993) - Midnight at Camp Blood Aug 07, 2026

Show notes

We're in the deep end of Crystal Lake now, Fiends! Join us as we wade through the weird, wild waters of Adam Marcus' Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday.

Yes, this is the movie that set the stage for Freddy vs. Jason and gifted us gore hounds with one of the absolute best kills of the franchise...but it's also the movie where Jason shaves a dude and leaps from body to body as a gross evil slug. Buckle up. It's going to be a wild ride! Join ussss.....

Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man (2026) is a Soft Serve of Gory Gags Aug 05, 2026

Show notes

Modern Horror Master Eli Roth is back with another serving of gory madness in Ice Cream Man (2026) 🍦💀🍦

Join your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon as the break down Eli Roth's newest flick, and all of the bizarre choices that make Ice Cream Man (2026) the goriest but also the strangest horror movie of the summer season. According to Eli Roth, this movie has more kills than all of his previous movies combined! We haven't been keeping track but based on the body count of this new nightmare, the math checks out.

Note: Drive Home from the Drive-in reviews are Full Spoiler Discussion BUT! given that we're dropping this review a few days before the movie hits theatres, we try to keep the discussion (mostly) spoiler free for the first 20 or so minutes. Want to know whether to watch or pass without the spoil?

Verdict: We're really conflicted on this one. Ice Cream Man (2026) has a TON of gory gags and fun kills....but it's also a little boring. We say check it out if you like seeing possessed kids scalp their parents and if you're able to see the movies with a group of friends or a rowdy crowd.

And as a special treat, we've recorded this DHFTDI in video! Glorious color! All the dimensions! Tune in via The Fiend Club on Patreon and see all our silly facial expressions while we review the most divisive movie of the year.

Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) - Midnight at Camp Blood Jul 31, 2026

Show notes

Ahoy graduates, and welcome aboard the SS Bloodbath! That name is, uh, purely decorative. You definitely won't be stalked and murdered by an undead maniac with superhuman strength with the ability to teleport. We promise.

Of course, if you're worried at all, join us in the rec room for a screening of Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. Some call it a high point of the franchise! Most others call it trash, but it's the only movie we have on the ship, and (bonus points!) it's got a scene where Jason kills a girl and knocks a dude's head off his shoulders in one clean punch. Join usssss....
