A story from Scotland - don't worry, I'm not on a Scottish kick, it was just an oversight on my part that I would have chosen two Scottish stories so close together. We're reading something from Ethiopia next week so if you're yawning over Scotland, don't fret! More countries are on their way!

Carib Culture and Stories Jul 24, 2020
    Show notes

In service to listener Stephan Gíl, I sought out a story from Carib aboriginal culture this week and... I almost completely failed. Luckily I found a JSTOR copy of a 1955 edition of Caribbean Quarterly which, also luckily, contained a nine page write up on Carib cultural stories by E.P. Banks.

Take that, crappy memory of mine!

The original document can be found on the blog post accompanying this episode, which should be up by the end of today (7/24/2020 - I'm writing it now) so you can read it yourself.

The Missing Web Jul 17, 2020
    Show notes

"The Missing Web" is a story from the book "Scottish Fairy and Folk Tales" by Sir George Douglas (1901). Douglas, of course, is not the author of the story itself, merely the version of it presented in this book. I, for my part, modified it still further in order to keep a tolerable cadence and not drive you into madness with my poor Scottish accent and clumsy handling of the Gaelic language.
