    Show notes

This is the season 1 finale! Thanks for all of your support for season 1 of Murder on the Map! New episodes will be back on January 4!

Episode description: Christmas is supposed to be about spending time with family, eating too much turkey and getting some much needed time off work. Unfortunately, crime is a 365 days a year kind of thing with no exceptions for major holidays. Murder is tragic no matter when it happens, but when it’s on Christmas, it makes it just that much harder for the loved ones of the victims to cope, like in the case of these notorious crimes that are basically the opposite of the holiday spirit.

MURDERED: True Crimes of Thanksgiving Nov 22, 2020
    Show notes

The holiday season kicks off this Thursday, when uncles and cousins and college-student children will travel cross country and gather around tables, where they’ll offer thanks for the thing they appreciate most: their love for one another.

    That’s one version, anyway.

For some, though, the holidays can be considerably more grim- like for the people who are mentioned in this podcast. Although it’s widely believed that rates of domestic violence spike during the holidays, the available research shows that assumption to be limited and inconclusive. However, it may be that when gruesome crimes do occur during the holidays, they get more widespread media coverage since they’re so out of the norm of what we’d expect during such celebratory times.

On this episode, I'll take you through 5 true crimes that all happened throughout the states on Thanksgiving Day

MURDERED: Holly Bobo - Tennessee Nov 01, 2020
    Show notes

On April 13, 2011, in Darden, Tennessee, 20-year-old nursing student Holly Bobo woke up at 4:30 am to study for an exam she had later that morning.

Holly’s mom, Karen Bobo, woke up a bit later and got her a muffin before packing a lunch Holly could bring to school with her. Karen then left for work at the local elementary school where she taught.

Around 7:30 am, Holly’s boyfriend, Drew Scott, called her to check in. He was hunting turkeys on her grandmother’s property nearby.

From there, Holly got ready for school as she usually did on Wednesdays and walked out to the garage around 8 am.
