We Did It!!!
The Lesson I learned From My Four Year Old Son We all need help!
This weekend we went to Yellowstone National Park and had a blast! There was lots of walking and it eventually became too much for my 4 year olds little legs.
On one hike up many switch backs my son asked for help up the trail. He asked if I could be his horse! I carried him up the hill on my back. When we reached the top he yelled “we did it!” We all had a good laugh and celebrated reaching the top!
Later on I was thinking about how he didn’t say “you did it” he said “we did it!” We had, he did as much as he could and then asked for help the rest of the way. We all need help from time to time. There is nothing wrong with that. Many of us are afraid to ask for help, it’s ok! You can ask for help. It doesn’t take away from your accomplishments. In fact, the most successful people in the world have coaches, mentors, and guides.
It doesn’t take away from their success, it just means they were smart enough to ask for help.
Ask for help!
If you have a goal, there is someone out there who has done it. If you are trying your best and can’t quite make it, there is someone further along who wants to help.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. We all need it!

This past week I had a funny experience getting my tires changed that sparked a life lesson solo podcast episode! I had waited too long to get my tires changed so I knew I needed to get them changed before I left for our adventure to Yellowstone National Park! After they were finished I went to pick up the car. The moment I left the parking lot, every warning light you could imagine started blinking on my dash board! I went back to the tire shop only to find that they had put 3 matching tires and a 4th that was a different size! The car was out of balance! Once they figured out what happened they were very apologetic, and told me it would never happen again. I was not worried. I have done business with them for a long time. They replaced the odd tire and said, "I'm glad your car caught this right away because when a car is out of balance it can create serious damage!" It didn't create damage right away but being out of balance for a while would have damaged the car. This made me think about our lives. All of us get out of balance from time to time. In fact there are seasons of life where you will be out of balance. You are out of balance when you have a big project, you were out of balance during final weeks in college, you are out of balance during the holidays. We can do this when the season requires it but if we stay out of balance for too long it will do damage. After thinking about it, I am glad this funny experience happened because I got to have this life lesson and reminder. Enjoy this episode! Jake Ballentine Mountain Top Motivation See you at the top!

Episode 005: Three Words That Will Change Your Business
My son was locked in the car and I didn’t know what to do…
It’s Thursday! And that means a new episode of The Speakers, Authors and Coaches Podcast.
3 weeks ago I had an experience that changed my perspective on what the word commitment truly meant.
I was getting ready for a speaking engagement and I got a text from my wife saying that our 18 month old son was locked in the car and it was 95 degrees out! AHHHH! I panicked…
I didn’t know what to do since I was 1,000 miles away from home.
I stepped out of the room, knowing that I was on stage in 30 minutes and called my wife.
In that conversation I had a realization and experience that taught me what commitment truly meant.
our son was locked in the car, it was getting hotter inside and I knew it would take too long for AAA to get there. So I called my brother and asked him to head over and see if he could get the car door open.
I also told him that if he couldn’t get it open that he should break the window to get him out.
Did I want him to break the window? Of course not!
Why did I tell him to do that?
Because I was willing to do whatever it took to keep my son safe! I had made a commitment as a father to keep him safe no matter what!
In that experience I learned that that if we have the same attitude towards every commitment we make we would have a lot more success in our businesses and in our lives.
