(Episode 273) "Rocketman" Composer: Matthew Margeson. Dec 28, 2021
    Show notes

    Episode 273.
    "Rocketman"
    Composer.
    Matthew Margeson.
Matthew Margeson is a composer of film, television, and video game music best known for his diverse action and adventure film work that bridges orchestral and electronic music. He got his start as an assistant to composers on video games and film shorts, and worked as a technical score advisor, arranger, and synth programmer, among other roles, for Hans Zimmer's Remote Control Productions. His first main composer credits in film arrived in 2010 with Lunatics, Lovers & Poets and Burning Palms. A year later, Margeson scored the animated TV series Transformers Prime and the video game Carnival Island. In the meantime, his additional music for other composers could be heard in blockbusters such as X-Men: First Class and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. In 2013, Margeson co-wrote the score for the franchise sequel Kick-Ass 2 with Henry Jackman. It incorporated rock elements into a symphonic base. That led to more action films, such as 2014's Kingsman: The Secret Service, also with Jackman. His work in other genres around that time included the 2016 biopic Eddie the Eagle and Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (with Michael Higham). He and Jackman teamed up again for 2017's Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and Margeson received sole credit for his music to the 2018 horror film Truth or Dare.
The King’s Man score is co-composed by Matthew Margerson and Dominic Lewis and can be heard in theaters now!
    Please Welcome, Matthew Margeson.

    Episode 271.
    "Love & Basketball"
    Actor.
    Erika Ringor.
Erika Ringor was born in Inglewood, California, USA as Erika Lynn Ringor. She is an actress and producer, known for Love & Basketball (2000), King Richard (2021) and The Morning Show (2019). You can currently find "King Richard" on HBO Max. "Love & Basketball is considered one the most iconic sports movies of the last 20 years.
Iconic critic Roger Ebert reviewed "Love & Basketball" by saying this...
"Love & Basketball" is about how you can either be in love or play basketball, but it's tricky to do both at the same time. It may be unique among sports movies in that it does not end with the Big Game. Instead, it's a thoughtful and touching story about two affluent black kids, a boy and a girl, who grow up loving each other, and the game. Written and directed by first-timer Gina Prince-Bythewood (and produced by Spike Lee), it is a sports film seen mostly from the woman's point of view. It's honest and perceptive about love and sex, with no phony drama and a certain quiet maturity. And here's the most amazing thing: It considers sports in terms of career, training, motivation and strategy. The big game scenes involve behavior and attitude, not scoring. The movie sees basketball as something the characters do as a skill and a living, not as an excuse for audience-pleasing jump shots at the buzzer." -Roger Ebert.
    Welcome, Erika Ringor.
