Episode 243 - Standing in the Gap Sacrificially with Jackie Marcum Feb 06, 2023
    Show notes

“God is a big God, and your prayers can and will have a global impact.” What an important realization about the power of God through prayer! We are continuing our new podcast series “Standing in the Gap” focusing in on some of the amazing intercessors in the Bible. Today, Stacy talks with Jackie Marcum, the Moms in Prayer International Director of Finance and Development. Listen in as she shares insights we can learn from a wonderful hero of the faith and an amazing intercessor, Moses.

    ABOUT OUR GUEST:

Jackie Marcum is the Director of Finance and Development for Moms in Prayer International. She and her husband Joehave been married for 29 years and have three adult sons who have all been blessed with amazing, godly wives. Jackie is a recent empty-nester still figuring out her hobbies in this new stage in life, but enjoys going on walks with her husbandand watching college football (a carryover from her days as a marching band mom). She earned a degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of California San Diego and worked as an engineer before becoming a mom. Jackie is also the founder of Turning Point Pregnancy Resource Center, a licensed medical clinic that provides free services and resources to women in crisis pregnancies.

    SCRIPTURES:

While the people of Israel were still at Rephidim, the warriors of Amalek attacked them.Moses commanded Joshua, “Choose some men to go out and fight the army of Amalek for us. Tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill, holding the staff of God in my hand.” So Joshua did what Moses had commanded and fought the army of Amalek. Meanwhile, Moses, Aaron, and Hur climbed to the top of a nearby hill. As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage. Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset. As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle. Exodus 17:8-13 (NLT)

I searched for a man among them who would build up a wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. Ezekiel 22:30 (NIV)

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19 (ESV)

Episode 242 - Standing in the Gap with Boldness with Bunmi Peters Jan 30, 2023
    Show notes

“Don’t give up on your loved ones; keep praying until God moves.” Why? Because God moves through the prayers of His people! Today we begin our new podcast series called “Standing in the Gap” focusing in on some of the amazing intercessors in the Bible. This week, Stacy welcomes Bunmi Peters to the podcast. Bunmi has been in Moms in Prayer for decades and she has also served many years on the Moms in Prayer International Board of Directors. Listen in as Bumni shares treasure that we can learn from Abraham, treasure that will inspire us to pray with boldness.

    ABOUT OUR GUEST:

Bunmi Peters has been involved in Moms In Prayer for decades and considers it the most rewarding ministry. She has been married to Tolu for 36 years and they have three grown children and four grandchildren; one is waiting in heaven for them. She has also served for nearly a decade on the Moms in Prayer International Board of Directors. Bunmi has seenmany miraculous answers to prayer from the time when she was taught to pray by her parents as a young child to today. She and her husband live in beautiful Tennessee.

    SCRIPTURES:

Abraham approached him and said, “Will you sweep away both the righteous and the wicked? Suppose you find fifty righteous people living there in the city—will you still sweep it away and not spare it for their sakes? Surely you wouldn’t do such a thing, destroying the righteous along with the wicked. Why, you would be treating the righteous and the wicked exactly the same! Surely you wouldn’t do that! Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?” And the Lord replied, “If I find fifty righteous people in Sodom, I will spare the entire city for their sake.” Genesis 18:23-26 (NLT)

I searched for a man among them who would build up a wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. Ezekiel 22:30 (NIV)

Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Romans 4:18 (NIV)

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1 (NIV)

Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:25 (NIV)

Episode 240 - Every College Covered in Prayer with Thai Lam Jan 16, 2023
    Show notes

“As we’ve met so many students over the years and heard their stories, inevitably we hear, ‘Yeah, my mom has been praying.’” After decades of college ministry, this is the hope-filled conclusion! Today Stacy talks with the executive director of Luke18 project, Thai Lam. Listen in as he shares his heart for college ministry and how it all began with his own college experience. Don’t miss his eyewitness account of the power of prayer and the opportunity to be a part of the Collegiate Day of Prayer.

    ABOUT OUR GUEST:

Thai Lam is part of the leadership team of the International House of Prayer and serves as the executive director of Luke18 Project, a campus prayer movement that is contending for revival and equipping college students to be praying leaders. He also gives leadership to Collegiate Day of Prayer, America’s oldest concert of prayer for college campuses on the last Thursday of February. Thai has pioneered and led campus ministries at UC Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford, San Jose State, KU, and UMKC. Thai came to faith in Jesus as a freshman at UC Berkeley, graduated in Religious Studies, and then studied Cross-Cultural Missions at Fuller Seminary. Thai and his wife Angela reside in Kansas City with their 3 children — Noah, Cohen, and Selah.

    SCRIPTURES:

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.“There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”

Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”Luke 18:1-8 (NLT)

So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Colossians 1:9 (NLT)

Fern Nichols is a former elementary school teacher and the founder of Moms in Prayer International, a prayer movement that mobilizes women around the world to gather together to pray for their children and schools. In 1984, Fern was fearful about sending her two eldest children off to junior high. She knew the school would be a battlefield for their hearts and minds. She realized the warfare would be intense and to fight in this battle she needed to invite other moms to pray. She called a mom and asked her to pray with her for their children and school. SCRIPTURE:

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory. Isaiah 50:15 (NLT)

I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. Ezekiel 22:29 (NIV)

And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. John 14:13 (NIV)

Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16:24 (NIV)

Episode 237 - With God Nothing Is Impossible with Greg Stier Dec 26, 2022
    Show notes

“There is nothing more dangerous to the kingdom of darkness than Moms in Prayer.” Wow! Today Stacy is joined by Greg Stier, the founder of Dare 2 Share, a ministry that helps youth leaders empower students to reach their world. How does Greg know the great power of prayer? By personal experience! He and his entire family were radically rescued and transformed through the Gospel and behind it all was a praying grandma who never gave up.

As the founder of Dare 2 Share Ministries, he is driven to help the Church activate Christian teenagers to reach their friends. A much sought-after speaker, Greg is a former pastor, church planter, youth leader, as well as the author of numerous books.

    SCRIPTURE:

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 (NIV)

After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. Acts 4:31 (NIV)
