A dry mouth at midnight can feel like a small crisis. That simple, human moment—stumbling in the dark to drink cold water—opened a bigger question for us: what do we reach for when our souls are thirsty? We trace that feeling to Psalm 63, where David names his desire with clarity and courage: my soul thirsts for you. What are we drinking from? Where do we look when the day runs dry? We close with a simple invitation to seek God earnestly.
If this spoke to you, share it with a friend who might need fresh water today. Subscribe for weekday encouragement, and leave a quick review to help others find this space of worship and renewal.

    331. Come to Christ and Rest (Pursuit of God) Jan 12, 2026

When the weight of helping everyone starts to crush you, it’s easy to confuse care with control. We open up about a season of ministry marked by a church power struggle and the slow burn of trying to fix what only Jesus can carry. From that honest place, we turn to Matthew 11:28 and hear Christ’s invitation as more than comfort language—it’s a royal summons to a better way of living: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
We unpack what that rest actually means. Not a quick mood boost, but true Sabbath reality—justification by grace, peace with God, and union with Christ that secures a settled identity. We name the burdens that wear us down: legalism, self-justification, and the achiever’s instinct to earn favor through performance. Then we walk through four grounded applications: stop trying to justify yourself, lay down false burdens, live from rest rather than chasing it, and return to Christ daily for strength. Along the way, we reflect on John 15 and the freedom of dependence: apart from him we can do nothing, and that is good news.
If your week already feels heavy, may you come to Christ and find rest. Let the gospel reframe your work, your worship, and your relationships. Press play to hear a pastor’s lesson learned the hard way, a fresh look at one of Jesus’ most tender promises, and practical steps to help you rest in his finished work. If this encourages you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs peace today, and leave a review to help more weary people find real rest.

    330. Seek Him with Your Whole Heart (Pursuit of God) Jan 09, 2026

Jeremiah 29:13 states, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Spoken to a people in exile, this promise meets us in the middle of waiting, where faith feels thin and desires scatter. The invitation is a call to want the Giver more than His gifts.

Across this short reflection, we name the idols that fracture our attention and sap our love: comfort, accomplishment, even good religious activity. Drawing on the insight that the human heart is a factory of idols, we explore why halfhearted devotion leaves us restless and why honest, undivided seeking restores joy. The promise is clear and sturdy: God delights to be found by those who desire Him above all else. Jesus’ words to “seek first the kingdom of God” align our priorities and recalibrate our days, turning ordinary moments into places of encounter.

You’ll hear a gentle challenge to examine what competes for the fullness of your heart and simple practices for your day: slow reading of Scripture and prayers throughout the day. We end with a weekend charge—choose a time to open the Word, pray with focus, and seek the Deliverer before deliverance. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review to help others find these moments of worship. What will you lay down to seek God with your whole heart this week?

    329. Be Still and Know He Is God (Pursuit of God) Jan 08, 2026

Headlines never sleep, but neither does the rule of God. We open with gratitude for a surge of new listeners and then move straight into Psalm 46, letting its fierce comfort reframe a week packed with alerts, appointments, and unrest. Rather than romanticizing quiet, we examine how God speaks into the roar of history and calls us to a different posture: be still and know. It is active surrender rooted in the character of the Lord of hosts, the God who breaks the bow and burns the chariots, who governs the end from the beginning. When the world accelerates, this truth slows the soul and strengthens worship.
We talk candidly about margin. Breaks can clear the fog and help us pray, reflect, and notice grace we otherwise miss. But Psalm 46 refuses to tether God’s faithfulness to our schedules. He is exalted among the nations when our calendars overflow and when they open up. From there, we get practical: small pockets of silence across the day, naming where we’re striving to control outcomes, praying Scripture over those burdens, and ending the day by tracing His steady care.
If your feed feels louder than your faith, this conversation offers a sturdy alternative: behold the works of the Lord and recover courage for ordinary life. We close with a simple invitation to share your story and prayer needs so we can walk this road together. Subscribe, leave a review to help others find the show, and send a note about where you’re learning to be still—what’s helping you trust the fortress today?

    Psalm 46:10

    328. Draw Near to God (Pursuit of God) Jan 07, 2026

"Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you." We took that promise into the middle of the week and asked what nearness looks like when life is crowded, noisy, and full of subtle compromises. Instead of pushing for more activity, we slowed down to talk about attention, repentance, and the single-hearted worship that warms a cold soul.
We unpack why James links a beautiful invitation to a probing command: cleanse your hands and purify your hearts. Hands point to the choices everyone can see; hearts reveal the loyalties no one else notices. We spoke about double-mindedness—how pride, hurry, and friendship with the world create a quiet drift—and how Jesus’ words about serving one master set a clear line for our desires. Through the lens of the new covenant, we remembered that access to God is wide open in Christ. The call to draw near is not a harsh summons but a path back to fellowship, where grace meets honesty and restores joy.
To make this more than theory, we shared three simple applications for the start of the year: examine your nearness instead of your busyness, confess what is visible and what is hidden, and pursue undivided devotion through small, steady practices. We closed with practical rhythms for the week—opening Scripture before email, short prayers through the day, and Christ-centered music that lifts the heart—so that worship moves from routine to relationship. If this speaks to your midweek, press play, pause with us, and take one step toward the God who is already stepping toward you.

    327. Wait for the Lord (Pursuit of God) Jan 06, 2026

A bumpy neighborhood road and a long-awaited paving crew became our unexpected doorway into a deeper truth about waiting, hope, and worship. We took that small joy—cheering for fresh asphalt—and traced it to the larger ache we all feel when life moves slower than our hearts want. From there, we opened Isaiah 40:28–31 and let its promises meet our weariness head-on: the Everlasting God doesn’t tire, His wisdom is beyond measure, and He renews the strength of those who hope in Him.
We walk through what waiting on the Lord really means—active trust rooted in God’s character, not passive resignation or frantic self-reliance. Along the way, we explore the rich portrait of God in Isaiah 40: He is eternal and creator, sovereign and shepherd, glorious and incomparable, all-wise and near. The famous imagery of soaring, running, and walking becomes a map for spiritual endurance: God supplies lift for extraordinary moments and stamina for the long, faithful middle. We talk honestly about delayed answers, uncertain diagnoses, and project roadblocks, and we keep returning to one anchor: hope grounded in the finished work of Jesus Christ steadies the soul.
If you need a short, clear word to carry you through the in-between, this conversation aims to give you just that—Scripture read aloud, truth applied simply, and a prayerful call to steady obedience. Listen for the encouragement to trade anxiety for anchored hope, to remember who God is, and to take the next faithful step today. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend who’s waiting for something, and leave a review to help others find the show.

In this opening episode of our Pursuing God series, Pastor Keith McMinn reflects on Peter stepping out of the boat in Matthew 14, reminding us that faith falters not when storms grow stronger, but when our focus shifts from Christ to our circumstances. Drawing on Scripture and Reformation wisdom, this episode calls us to pursue God with humble dependence, fixing our eyes on Jesus and trusting Him when He says, “Come.” Join us this month as we draw near to God together.
