Previously on Mockery Manor: In the Whimsy's grand dining room, Margot reveals that she has made JJ, Parker and a third unnamed deputy the inheritors of Mockery Manor, much to everyone's surprise. Frances eavesdrops on conversations between Urs Muller and the other Wizzzard bigwigs, while Ralph tells JJ that Margot has been behaving strangely. JJ spots Matty dressed as a waiter, but before she can tell anyone, Ronya Degermark (a high-profile Wizzzard) begins choking. Frances attempts the Heimlich manoeuvre, but it's too late. Nurse Debbie declares Ronya dead at the scene.
Mockery Manor was written by Lindsay Sharman, and directed by Lindsay Sharman and Laurence Owen. Music, sound design and editing by Laurence Owen.
Featuring: Hayley Evenett as JJ, Laurence Owen as Parker, Matty, Urs Muller, Giuseppe, Antoine and the Chef, Lindsay Sharman as Margot and Captain Crackles, Beth Eyre as Nurse Debbie, Chardaé Phillips as Frances, Tom Crowley as the definitely-a-real-doctor and Fin Guido Maneriumsen, Nicholette Chew as Lydia, Ivan Wilkinson as Ralph, and John Henry Falle as the Captain.

Previously on Mockery Manor... Matty has stowed away on board the Whimsy, assisted by his lover and co-conspirator Debbie, who is posing as the ship's nurse. JJ is blindsided by the revelation that Parker has just been dumped by an on-off girlfriend after seven years, despite him never once mentioning her. The pair then lay a wager on who can bed the most people before their week on the Whimsy is out. Meanwhile, a lone, vaguely French-sounding someone is lured into Mermaid Booboos' Aquarium of Wonders, before being chloroformed by a sinister masked figure.

Previously on Mockery Manor... JJ and Parker welcome the old bigwigs of Wizzzard Entertainment to The Whimsy, Margot Mockery's theme park cruise ship. Margot rehearses the ship's musical, The Spirit Of The Manor with special guest star Lydia, and tasks JJ and Parker's new assistant, Frances, with spying on Urs Muller, a wealthy Wizzzard who is yet to invest in The Whimsy. Today we'd like to introduce you to another great show from the Fable & Folly Network - Jack Valentine, Vampire Detective
That title was enough to grab me on its own, but in case you need more, here's what it's about.
From their base at Solomon College, Oxford, Jack Valentine and her colleagues are tasked with keeping the existence of vampires secret from humanity. Mostly they hunt those of their number who’ve got carried away while blood-drinking and killed a human by accident, but occasionally they encounter the most dangerous kind of predator: a vampire serial killer.
Jack Valentine, Vampire Detective is an LGBTQIA+-led comedy drama that mashes vampires and police procedural together into a fast-paced, sometimes gritty, sometimes romantic, and darkly funny mix.
This isn't the first Jack Valentine story - the series' creator Josie Jaffrey has written 7 books starring this character. The podcast is a prequel, so you don't need to have read the books to enjoy it, but this is a seriously fleshed out world with a whole load of lore and stories to get lost in.
You can find all the info here, and you can subscribe to the podcast in all the usual places
Once you've listened to this, the second episode is coming out on June 19th, so head over and subscribe to Jack Valentine Vampired Detective to keep listening.
And now, here's episode 1 - Dead Man's Hand.

And here's the link to our Ko-fi page
Hello, listeners! It’s us again. Hopefully you listened to our last message. If you didn’t, it was about how we’re taking all our shows off Spotify.
And now, that time has come: as of today, we’ve requested their removal. Spotify makes the process as opaque as possible, so we don’t have a definitive date for when they will disappear, but it is imminent.
So, where can you find us once we’re off Spotify?
Where are we putting our brand new season of Mockery Manor?
Are we making sure there’s always a free way to listen to it?
Firstly, yes, there are many ways to listen to our shows for free. They will continue to exist on almost all podcast platforms - except Spotify. The free versions include adverts, although we try to keep those to a minimum.
If you’d prefer to listen to Mockery without adverts - and who wouldn’t - then the most ethical way to do that is one we’ve just launched, where for only £3.49, you can purchase a whole season of Mockery on Bandcamp. And if you’re wondering why we chose £3.49, that’s because that was the average cost of a CD single in around 2002, when I started buying music.
All our scripted podcasts are now available on Bandcamp, and they sound much better. The audio quality of a podcast is higher there than on any other online platform. MUCH higher. That’s because podcast platforms use compressed MP3s, while on Bandcamp, everything is CD-quality, high definition lossless audio.
And unlike other online services, Bandcamp pays artists fairly. In a world that seems to be trying to destroy creators, services like Bandcamp means we can keep going.
Also, Bandcamp’s profits DO NOT go into the pockets of mass murderers! What a world, where that’s even a thing.
We’ve always given our monthly supporters free access to our music albums on Bandcamp, but going forward, they’ll also have access to unlimited plays of our podcasts in high definition, so join us over on Ko-fi for that delicious perk.
Mockery Manor season 4 is due out this summer, so please do listen to it for free on any other podcast platform, or for £3.49 on Bandcamp.
