    Home Health Panel - Part 1 Nov 05, 2018
    Show notes

On Oct 28, Troy brought together a group of home health therapists with varied experiences and backgrounds to answer your questions from Twitter and Facebook in our first Facebook Live event - an event so large that we had to split it into more than one episode. Since this was a live event, anything (like kids and dogs) goes. In Part One, we make introductions, discuss the strengths of working in home health, the weakness to working in home health, and what do you do when your patient refuses but their family insists on therapy.

High Intensity Functional Exercise (HIFE) and Dementia Oct 22, 2018
    Show notes

For PT's working in residential facilities, two things are often true - most patients will have decreased ADL function, and there are not many studies addressing the effects of high intensity functional exercise on these populations. Alyssa looks at an article that addresses theses concerns, along with the feasibility of including pts with decreased cognitive function (MMSE 10 or higher).

How Does Your Patient Approach a Curb? Oct 15, 2018
    Show notes

Meg Lowry is back - interviewing motor control researcher Steven Van Andel about how people approach and step onto a curb. Steve explains perceptual motor coupling with an analogy we can all relate to: Super Mario Brothers. The differences Steve found in the strength of perceptual-motor coupling in younger adults vs older adults, and older fallers vs non fallers may be contrary to what many clinicians expect.
