TJ Dominguez commanded fleets of planes, transporting tons of cocaine from Colombia into South Florida in broad daylight. At the height of his power, he was making five million dollars a week, hiding in plain sight with a cell phone empire, a Lamborghini dealership, and even a car for every shirt color in his closet.

But empires built on greed eventually collapse. Federal agents stormed his mansion in 1988, leading to a prison sentence, solitary confinement, and a failed helicopter escape plot.

Now, decades later, TJ is revealing the truth for the first time.

September 11th is a day that forever changed the world — and for me, it is deeply personal. I lost my fiancé on that day, and each year I reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the FDNY, who lost 343 of their own in the line of duty.

In this special episode of Miss Understood, I sit down with FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker, the 35th Fire Commissioner of New York City. Commissioner Tucker’s story is unique — he never served as a firefighter, but his lifelong connection to the department and his new role leading the FDNY give him a profound perspective on legacy, culture, and the future of public safety.

Together, we talk about what it means to inherit the weight of the FDNY’s history, the department’s priorities moving forward, and how the legacy of 9/11 continues to shape its mission today. After our conversation, Commissioner Tucker gave me the honor of visiting one of New York’s firehouses — a moment that left me humbled, emotional, and more connected than ever to the sacrifice made by these heroes.

Judge Frank Caprio, the beloved Providence Municipal Court chief judge and star of Caught in Providence, has passed away at 88 after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Known worldwide for his compassion, empathy, and sense of justice, Caprio touched millions with his humanity from the bench.

A few months ago, I had the privilege of traveling to Miami to interview him in person at his home, surrounded by his family. We shared a heartfelt, candid conversation about his life, his values, and the lessons he wanted to leave behind. Afterward, we joined our mutual friend Joseph Paolino Jr. for lunch on his boat — a memory I’ll never forget.
