How To Get Your Baby To Sleep - Sarah Mitchell [188] Oct 01, 2019
    Show notes

Hunter talks to Sarah Mitchell about How To Get Your Baby To Sleep.

The quality and quantity of babies sleep makes a HUGE impact on our lives. Unfortunately, having no experience with this before we go into parenting, most of us don’t really understand some important truths about babies’s sleep that can make all the difference in the world. This episode just may save your sanity!

Some big takeaways from this episode include: 1. The way we sleep is learned 2. There are 2 main reasons why babies don’t sleep well 3. The power of “le pause”

Originally from Canada, Sarah moved to California in 2014 with her husband and two children. Sarah has a Bachelor of Kinesiology and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree, but found her true calling helping parents get their kids to sleep at Helping Babies Sleep.

As a sleep consultant, Sarah empowers parents to teach their babies and toddlers to sleep by educating parents on age appropriate sleep needs and sleep training options. Sarah thinks there's no one way to raise your child, or get them to sleep, but not to forget that you are an important person too.

When she’s not helping babies sleep, picking up from preschool or watching kids on the playground, she enjoys talking to adults, exploring new sights, and seeing live music with friends.

    Show notes

Hunter talks to Bethany about How To Handle Potty Talk.

“My recent challenges have to do with my 6 year old being negative and using inappropriate language in public (which results in my 4 year old doing the same). I usually end up threatening consequences to get them to stop.”

Potty talk is so annoying, but it gets worse when your child does it in public — then it’s embarrassing too! In this on-air coaching call, listen as I talk to Bethany about how to deal with embarrassing potty talk and other things that her 6 year-old son says.

Some big takeaways from this episode include: 1. Resorting to threats may seem to “work” in the short run, but in the long run creates resistance 2. It’s vital to acknowledge and feel our feelings 3. Our beliefs under the surface can often drive our behavior

    Show notes

Hunter talks to Tosha Schore about Listening To Boys.

It’s time to be more conscious about how we are raising our boys. Culturally, there’s a lot more shaming going on for boys because we don’t want them to grow up “soft.” But is that really what helps? What do boys need to grow up to be emotionally healthy, and how can we provide that for them?

Some big takeaways from this episode include: 1. It’s time to look at “bad” behavior as a cry for help 2. What to do when your child hits you 3. Listening to each other can help us be that safe space for our boys

Tosha Schore creates happy households by building your parenting confⅰdence and helping parents shift boys' behaviors through connection. She is co-author of “Listen: Five Simple Tools to Meet Your Everyday Parenting Challenges."
